This thread is dedicated to the non-role-play Quest for Raxxla. Of course everything might be related, but we start out by keeping things simple (Occam’s Razor) and assuming they aren’t until proven otherwise. If you’re interested in Guardians & Thargoids there are more appropriate threads, e.g.
🙂
Just to clarify, because I haven’t looked into this particular mystery that much, is the report from the noble the only actual reference we have in the game? It seemed like the entire legend was born out of that person’s mind alone. But I’ll admit I didn’t read the whole thing.

Dont understand what noble you are talking about.

David Braben and Michael Brookes have both confirmed Raxxla is in-game.
In-game source for Raxxla is the Codex entry. Externally, interest arose in 1984 with Robert Holdstock’s The Dark Wheel novella which accompanied the original game, and some have been looking for it ever since

Though it has been confirmed that it has been implemented, for the first time, in Elite Dangerous.
But we dont know what it is!

Have a look through my FDQuotes thread (see my signature) which captures potentially useful things FD have said (though some of the links may now no longer work).

So canidate for TDW station...

Decima - Gustypants Outback Emporium

This one is NOT it but it fits the bill, large wheel style station, compact and older orbis - plus when the sun isn't hitting it, it's really dark.

Now if I could only narrow down systems with this version of an orbis station..... ok found it.

View attachment 319566

I'll be checking it out in the morning.
According to the codex entry, the station is "dark" because it use minimal power to remain "silent" (on radar I suppose?)

“Gustypants” seriously? Gusty - pants…outbreak…

Hey all,

I've been flying around Haumea in Sol for a few days since it was mentioned in here, and it seems I keep getting a bug of sorts. Whenever I'm pointing my nose at the planet, I'm constantly scanning it? In SC all I get is the scanning sounds looping, and in normal space I get both the scanning sound and the little animated target panel. Both loop indefinitely and persist between logs.

Is this a known bug? Some feature that I've half engaged with? I've scanned Haumea using detailed surface scanner etc. Can someone replicate this if it isn't a known bug please? You know how the madness can take hold...

Checked. Think it was the princess astrophy (or whatever) story. Says it was discredited 🙄sorry.
Cute story though

A few ppl have suggested the construct that supposedly guards it is guardian in nature. Some think they found it from a prior civilization, others that guardians were not indigenous to our galaxy and came thru it ( not supported in guardian historical logs)
Your take?

While trying (& failing) to hear these supposed noises from Trinkets of Hidden Fortune I took a couple of pix.
It may be interesting to note that the label on the container (NEX0275401977 VESPINE TRANSPORT SYSTEMS) has the same number as did SAP8 containers
Cant see this is coincidental, but is it meaningful?
I remember looking into the canister labels a while back… if i remember correctly. They are all the same - but worth checking again

Insufficient information to hypothesise on that. We know that Raxxla is discussed in the FD internal alien lore bible, but we dont have access to that. It does, however, imply Raxxla is of alien origin & the name supports that. We’ll (hopefully) found out when (if!!!) we find it!

Just in case the "discredited" part of the codex was here to mislead (after all, isn't it more of an opinion rather than a fact expressed here? Discredited why? Maybe the story contains clues.), I found this old story with a title very similar.
Who knows.
You have to treat anything said in-game, by npc or in text such as the codex, with a degree of scepticism. We were told that people in-game can lie. Indeed The Club is a secret in-game organisation of the powerful who have been manipulating humanity for a long time to their own ends, and The Club concept was supposedly invented by David Braben, but was the topic for Drew Wagar’s two Elite books Reclamation and Premonition.

We have no details on which to assess the veracity of any such claims in the codex. I would caution against taking a centuries-old historical document such as Philip Sidney’s prose as the intended book reference, the title is widely divergent for a start, and it’s not a children’s book!

From its prominence in that codex entry the reference to “Princess Astrophel and the Spiralling Stars” & “for those with eyes to see” might well be a clue but needs to be deciphered....

I’ve taken anagrams of the mentioned book title- and got over a hundred in-game system names from it!
The part about “eyes to see” might refer to John Milton who wrote Paradise Lost (Michael Brookes’ favourite author and book), since JM was blind when he wrote it. So Paradise Lost might be relevant, somehow. Search back for a few pages, Emperor and Rochester came up with another possibility for “eyes to see”. Search my posts in this thread-Ive had a few theories! None proved fruitful! 🥺

There are so many possibilities, which is what makes this Quest simultaneously so fascinating and so frustrating. Pick a hypothesis and go test it out! We like to share thoughts and ideas in this thread, and sometimes collaborate in the testing. But none of us have any real idea of where or what (as DB gleefully reminded us!) Raxxla is. Presumably only David Braben, Michael Brookes, and a handful of FD coders do; perhaps we need to supply FD pizza and beer suitably topped with truth serum! Slice of Feta with Jalapeño and Scopalomine David? 😉😁

Thats a well worn path. Good Luck.

You might benefit from looking through this (now out of date) summary of this thread written up by Xaintly - its good to get started on some of the well covered ground.

You will find this link and a few other useful tidbits on my site over at

Most of my stuff there is getting old now. But might save you from going over things we already deeply explored, and anyhow, we may have missed things so please hypothesise away

Well, this afternoon been out to Praea Euq EC-L d8-6291469, cos the coordinates are pretty close to the label on the Trinkets
“NEX0275401977”
X= 275 Y=401 Z= 977??
but nothing here other than 3 stars, no comets!

Earlier chat with @Dox Paradox re Paradise Lost reminded me of my early hypothesis wrt Apha Centauri & Eden, sadly no comets there either!

Over the last couple of days also checked Hathor (Mother of Galaxies), Aten (sun disk Jewel in her headdress) & Siren (obvious!) systems...
nowt to report!

is it too early for a brandy???

Piscium Sector....

I looked at the Astrophel & Stella, 8th song, 8th paragraph and it mentions Cupid.

There are 5 systems in Piscium Sector plus they are in that 'sweet' spot from Sol so next investigaion targets.

(Edit)
5 systems that showed up in my search on EDSM.

What about Raxxla being the "center" (like Sol is for the Bubble) of Guardian space?
Read in the codex the Guardian had a territorial space similar to the Bubble.

That’s possible, but it depends on where that centre is, it being Sol, or someplace else. The codex reads a little like a road map, potentially giving six references (much like the logo) which many suspect could relate to systems which if triangulated might resolve a common centre, that’s one theory.

It could just be down the back of Michael Brookes sofa.

Understanding that relevance has yet to be conclusively understood.

I think @DoxParadox was meaning the 'centre' being of the Guardian bubble.

One difficulty was that guardian sites were not implemented in the early releases, having come along with Horizons. Depends if you follow the 'available in gamma and not changed since' or 'it may have been updated over time' camp as to whether that is a problem..

Th
Or the centre is in the middle of Human, Thargoid and Guardian bubbles?
Thats a good hypothesis, but we already have a potential sphere of influence from the Tau Ceti date, which isn’t very large… doesn’t mean Raxxla itself isn’t in another location, the mystery / journey could be multi staged, beginning close to Sol then directed elsewhere?
