Since the new tweak will involve increasing their weight and other nerf factors, I then Think larger ships like Asp and up will benefit more and can fit more.

Best balance is to remove them in my opinion :)

I know the other running threads, sorry about that. But I was just struck with total mind convince that game would be much better without and would balance itself :)

Don't see how they can increase the weight of SCB and yet fit more?

I was waiting for someone to not give reasons anymore and just start asking to remove it outright.

This just gets better and better, they are staying in the game. Go play and get beat by someone with shield cells. :)

Well, if a larger ship has 4 or maybe more and you have 1 in a viper then again cells will be the deciding factor not pilote skill

No. A viper can avoid and harass the larger ship, and force him to blow all his cells... Just a simple "for instance."

So what? When ME 109's were fighting old Gloucester bi-planes over Malta that was somehow wrong? Combat is not about 'skill' it's about technology and wits. It's about stamina and concentration. The skill of the pilot is just one factor.

The person who should win a fight is the person who won and it doesn't matter if that person wore kevlar armour and carried 2 machine pistols in a knife fight.

You want to win a fight against someone who chose to bring more shield cells? Learn how to win that fight or retreat.

Trust me. Game will be much better

What about War zones? What about Traders? What about large ships being attacked by several small ships?
I don't trust you because you only see the game from your own small view point, I trust the devs because they see the bigger picture.
I also don't trust Moomins...

Why not, they are very nice ;) No hard feelings all. Just my opinion. Lets hope the devs do the best with them.

That doesn't make it imbalanced it makes the mechanic redundant. And a bit daft.

No it doesn't. It means the person who chose to equip more can last longer. It means the other pilot has to have better tactics. It means the fight might go on longer with the possibility of fatigue leading to mistakes.

It means you better think about your load-out and fly appropriately. If you have only one set and don't have the skills or other gear to put up a fight against a better equipped ship then don't start fights. Keep watching your six and give other players a wide birth. Run if you get caught. Know how to run.

There is nothing 'unfair' about one pilot choosing to carry more shield cells, especially as any number of shield cells can be dealt with by superior fling and the correct choice and use of armaments.

That's why I'm currently learning how to fight with rail guns and cannons so I can get shields down so quick it doesn't matter how many cells they have. And when they're down I can do serious damage.

Shield cell rework suggestion

I don't think I need to point out why most people think the current shield cells mechanic don't fully fit in the current game.

So fire away:

A bank: 1 shield cell, reduce incoming damage to shield by 75% for 10 seconds.

B bank: 2 shield cells, reduce incoming damage to shield by 40% for 10 seconds.

C bank: 4 shield cells, reduce incoming damage to shield by 25% for 10 seconds.

D bank: 12 shield cells, reduce incoming damage to shield by 10% for 10 seconds.

though?

T9 pilots - what size shield gen do you use?

Recently got my T9 and am just beginning to get used to how it...er...flies. Wallows.

So I...um...scraped the sides of the letter box in my last dock, even though I thought I was through ok.

Shields went down. Scratched the hull. Profits for the last two trips gone in repairs....(slightly different from my T7, where even when the hull was shot to hell I could earn the repair costs by playing the slot machines in the Pilot's bar for about 10 minutes.)

Taken to docking with 4 pips in shields.

So, what size gen do you use on yours?

I use D5 shields. Yesterday, while coming to letterbox too fast, I missed it and slammed frontaly to the coriolis station, just beneath the entrance, with just 2 pips in system. I was able to slow down and hit it with (I estimate) about 1/3 - 1/4 of the max speed and just lost 2 rings of shields, no hull damage. To be honest, was surprised, expected more damage.

What was your speed when you scratched the letterbox?

Not sure, to be honest. Landing gear might even have been down. But prob 3/4s of the bar was up. That was on a D5 too.

Bit surprised to have instantly lose shields AND ~30% hull in <1 second, when I literally scraped it as I maneouvred the far side.

A5 shields, Will keep you safe from any idiots up to at least T6 going full speed through the letterbox. I lost 2 rings (4pips systems) by a t6 comming in full speed while i was trying to move out the letterbox.

D5 too here. Enough to hold out against *gentle* touches and more than enough to headbutt any other ships except maybe another T9 that want to pass the letterbox the other way. small and medium just go boom, heavies get pushed aside.

Shield generator for my Cobra?

Scudo.jpg

Hi all! The only thing I haven't upgraded yet in my Cobra is Shield Generator. I have a shield generator that costs 19000 cr, the dafault one. Now I have money and I'd like to buy the one in photo that costs 169000cr. Is it right? The more it costs the better is? I haven't understood well "optimal hull mass" and "maximum hull mass". You recommend me to buy it or not?

Thank you!
