An interesting side note is that somewhere in the DDA's it was mentioned that starting with ships the size of a Cobra, you'd have multiple shield generators. The Cobra would have two separate shield generators powering two 180 degree hemispheres of coverage, fore and aft. You could then rotate a depleted shield away from the enemy in combat, favoring the stronger shield.

Larger ships like the Anaconda would have even more separate generators and shield bubbles. There was even mention of a tactic for small ships to fly "under" the shield bubbles of the larger ships and attack the hull directly.

None of that made it into the game, but maybe the devs are still thinking about it for the future.

Yeah I still think its a good idea even if you need a bridge module to connect the shields taking 3 slots instead of two but i think we got shield cells instead.

Can´t find a A5 shield

After playing for a week, just with the objective to find a A5 shild for my ASP, i´m giving up. I Played for 2 or 3 hours a day and yesterday played for 6 hours, just going from a high tech system to another and i only found a A3 shield, nothing above from that.

Is a bug? thanks for any help.

Keep returning to the high-tech systems you've already checked. Outfitting supply at a station is not fixed and can change every few hours or so.

I only have a cobra so I've been looking for class 3 and 4 stuff not class 5... but I have been able to find A4 for everything including shields in either Condovichs or Nu (both near Achenar). I haven't seen class 5 (I don't know if it would appear for me) but if you're not too far, an A4 shield is better than A3 while you look.

Hope that helps.

Hi Almostpilot! You've just had some bad luck with your component hunt. Economy and population are what effect the availability of internals at any station as I understand it. You also need to insure that when you visit a system that is High Tech, that you go to the high tech station. It may seem obvious, but a star system can be High Tech, but have low tech faction stations and outposts in the system.

Go to the Galaxy Map View TAB, select the filter and choose "Economy" and JUST check "high tech", then on the lower filter, select "Population" and move the slide selector to mid-way. You should now JUST see mid-to-high population high-tech systems in the galaxy map. Pick the nearest one to you, go there find the High Tech station on the system map and buy yourself a shiny new Class 5 A Rated FSD drive.

The game has the tools, you just need to know how to use them.

Failing that, try Guest City at Zeta Trianguli Australis (Federation space) or Fan Horizons at Beta Sculptoris (Empire space). Both have always had them in my experience.

I dont think it's random in the sense that stock changes randomly, but it's random in which there is no way to know what items each station will sell unless you go there and check yourself / or some ody did it for you. They do not change their stock, so if you find it in one location it eill never be gone. Just checked and Fan Horizons (Beta Sculptoris) got one. I think some High Tech like Zeta Horologii/Ho Shi/Leesti/Meliontit should have one. I didnt take note tho so only Fan Horizons I am 100% sure.

If this is random, does not seem to me to be the best decision for the game.

But thanks for the info.

It's only semi-random, more like there's a range of what each station type is likely to provide. High-tech stations for example will generally lean towards having a wide variety of shields and beams and tend towards larger and rarer modules, so it sounds like you've just had a string of real bad luck unfortunately.

I did a search before i post, that is the problem. I already visited every possible place cited here and nothing. So it´s random. There is a chance of it be a problem with my time zone game. In this period will never find this type of shield?

Ok. My english is not soo good. I´m already used a galaxy map to filter for high tec system and population. becuase of that i´m posting here.

But thanks to all

Just saw it a few minutes ago in Atfero, Dowie something. Huge population, wealthy, industrial. Try this kind of station.

What's the difference between C and A shield?

The price difference between C and A shield is huge, my ASP currently has a C5, what do I get tangibly by upgrading to a 5mil+ A5? Or should I slot a C6 which is cheaper?
