Please help me find a class 3 shield generator

Like a dummy I sold my shield generator on my Cobra and I cannot find a class 3 anywhere. I am in Altair and have struck out on 12 different systems. Anyone seen one close by? Thanks

I seem to recall Eq Pegasi being a tech economy with good upgrades. Otherwise i saw others mention 61 Cygni (i think)

Shield Cells and System Pips

I see in the Modules window Shield Cells are a SYS module. Does this mean in my default setup of 0s 3E 3W I am nerfing them? Should I have pips in systems when I use the cells?
Rus.

When you activate a shield cell, it will boost your shields back to full health (or maybe just additional health, if not full).

It doesn't make any difference where your pips are at the time.

If your shields are completely down (ie they are off), activating a shield cell won't do anything.

Shield cell bank/shield generator

I feel I should know the answer to this but I don't & I'm pretty sure there are others with same Q.

Do I have to have a shield generator to use with shield cell bank or can I just fit a shield cell bank on it's own?

Flame away! :D

Shield cells cant recover a completely dead shield and since having no shield at all is the same as having a completely dead shield......

Somethings don't look right here. A Viper's default shield size is class 3. The C3 should be giving the ~105 shield strength, not a C2.
Dimgook's table (and my version on the wiki) are based on the data and formula given to us by the Mike Evans. Obviously it's possible we've misunderstood something, but you can find all the info in the thread I linked to in my previous post in this thread.

If you spot any mistakes, please let us know so we can correct our tables.

The table looks proportionally correct, I'm just puzzled as to why Frontier would list the default shield strengths in such a manner that they required highly downsized components to achieve, especially when other ratings, like speed, are more or less correct for a mildly upgraded vessel.

The base shield rating listed for a ship is just that - the base rating. It's not the 'average' shield rating for the ship, it's used to calculate the actual rating, in combination with the hull mass and stats of the shield generator.

I haven't gotten around to looking at speed/turning stats and their relationship to thruster modules yet, but perhaps they are just based on a different type of formula that means that the base speed rating is closer to the actual speeds a ship can attain.

Need 1.07 shield cell ammo stats (possible outfitting bug)

Anyone know what the ammo capacities for the various shield cells class/grades are supposed to be ? - looks like they have been changed in 1.07 so it would be interesting to know what they are supposed to be (I'll be able to determine if what I'm seeing is a bug).

which shield is better?

Good day all,

looking to update my shields on the cobra, but curious...

Which one is better? my standard one is class 4 rate E, but I am looking at a Class 3 rate C. which one is actually better? my rate is better class is worse and my current mass is only 240T?

is it really worth the 58k to upgrade?

Cheers

the 4E shield will give you better protection.

The only advantage of the 3C shield is that you can use a size 3 slot for it, and thus use the size 4 slot for more cargo.

Check the optimal hull mass stat. Put the shield on a ship heavier than that and the shields power will take a penalty because it wasn't designed for something so heavy.
Cobra's hull mass is 180T... That shield will not be very powerful on a Cobra.
