The single most annoying thing currently in ED is.....

In a Pilots Federation Committee room a long time ago...

Committee Chair: Welcome to the Standard HUD display design committee, I would like to introduce Commander Expert as our pilots representative.

Expert Pilot: Thank you for the invite. Well to be honest we don’t really care what the HUD looks like – just make sure we can see it. As you know the most common star is a Red Dwarf, these are orange in colour and can be pretty bright, so just don’t make the HUD orange.

Committee Chair: Right, great … so it’s decided then; the HUD should be orange.

Expert Pilot:
Wait, what….

I have said this before, but perhaps devs read this thread.

My single most annoying thing (but I believe FD will be addressing this in the near future):

* Not being able to store my engineer commodities.

And therefore being forced to stay in a cargo carrying vessel.
I have not seen any of my Combat vessels since the start of Engineers, as they have no cargo space.
I can only use them if I ditch my engineer commodities, but I have worked hard for them.

It is also a pain to engineer pure combat vessels as they in general are unable to carry cargo.

Rep decay snakes and ladders. The fact that my 1 hr a day playtime gets me 1 or 2% increases if I do missions solidly, then I dont play for a couple of days, and I lose everything I've earned in the previous week or more. Soul sucking.

Have a look at the image below:

I would like to draw attention to the following:

Middle section:
Power settings - Why no method of turning modules on/off to see where the power can be found without making further changes.
You could have a selection of radio boxes to turn systems on/off... But you can't because;
Jump Range - A rather important number is hidden away at the bottom of the page in a dulled out tone.

Right section:
Balance and number are different font sizes (this may have been fixed as this is just a screenshot I found online of the new page).
Balance and number are in white - no doubt some artists way of balancing the page but instead just looks poor due to font size mismatch.
I think the Jump range numbers would be better of shown here allowing for larger numbers to be used including before and after range numbers for when changes to the ship are being made.
Balance and re-buy cost could be still on the page under the jump ranges and would look far better in the same colour scheme as the rest of the page.

I find this whole section of the game to be messy. It's better than it was but also worse at the same time. I have no way to see the whole load out at a glance. Also the page where it shows you the nice tablet friendly sections for each type of module is rather annoying due to not showing all module types but rather focusing on the types they have in stock. This just leads to a game of find the right icon. Would it not have made sense to have all the module sections showing with a notice 'Out of stock' if no items are available allowing us to get used to the positions of the items instead of the game of hunt the right selection.

You asked for personal gripes, these are my biggest two. As I reset my game for 2.1 I am using the refit screen a lot and it's painful... really really painful.

Thank-you to the people who make coriolis.io without you I would be lost!

EDIT: Do not get me started on comparison of modules...

Same here - since launch i've been missing the reliable function key mapping Elite always used to have - tap F3 a few times nad you'll see your roster, status and loadout screens, cargo space and cargo, jump range, fuel supply, legal status etc. etc.

I appreciate FD were aiming for some kind of 'total VR' aesthetic but the way it's been implemented makes it a PITAS to access the basic information you need - EG before i can accept a mission requiring cargo space i have to exit the mission screen, exit the missions board, exit terminal services and return to cockpit view, then enable headtracking, look down and to the right, press the '4' key to bring up the right-side holoview, scroll across to the relevent tab and look for a little orange number at the end of a list of other orange numbers that tells me i have, say 6 tonnes (or "units" or whatever) of free space. Then i have to repeat all of that in reverse to get back to the mission offer, if it's still there.

The slick ergonomics of the past games have been completely lost..

The rumors were right...

or

I've been trackin' you! Perpurr 4 justis!

Right. you heard a rumor about my cargo, and knew EXACTLY what system I would be in upon returning from deep space. Oh, and you tracked me over 5,000 light years, even though I never once saw you, all because you wanted to die over 500 credits?

Please.

For me it's SKYNET the npc's have far superior weapons and they never seem to run out of ammo they are far too aggressive now this games getting worse not better.

For me the most annoying thing at present is taking on a few missions that are going to the same destination, then at some point having the destinations changed. Invariably to some out of the way place I never would of accepted in the first place and in totally the wrong direction I was heading.

I can pretty much guarantee this will happen if I take more than one mission for the destination, and yet there is nothing I can do about it.

If it is random, change the random chance to rare and not every time.

or make it a choice so you can decline and keep the original agreement, or accept the new one and recieve the extra cash offered.

If i was even able to get past the space speed limit (a speed limit... in space! A "space speed limit"!) then i'd imagine this would be really, really really annoying..

In a way i guess i'm lucky my peeve is so fundamental, it kind of insulates me against the worst of all the other affronts. I mean, i hate the notion of RNG rolls for engineer mods - almost everything about engineers, TBH (interesting concept, terribly implemented) - but it'll never actually be an issue for me cos my ship doesn't move when i open the throttle. The terrible mission designs, obsessive political guff, ship transfers... i don't like the sound of any of it, but i'm saved from all of it by the grace of my immobilised eagle and its 200-odd m/s absolute max speed! Every cloud has a silver lining..

I think in general the game is heading to a good place FD have done very well. But I must also pitch in and say that the mission board lag is properly annoying. Much of the time after waiting for however long it returns an error which means clicking into it again and waiting for it to load again. In fairness it doesn't usually return the error over and over again but still.

That's my vote for most annoying.

Oh where to begin...The Critical Mission Updates are bloody annoying, I get loads of them all the time every Boom Data or Extension Data or Internal Data mission.
Not knowing if Orbital Correction Rotation is on or off without having to look on the computer panel. A simple light on the front console would do, its no brainer.
Constant Interdictions, especially those that I cannot get out of in my Type 6 Transporter. Wheres the fun in that? At least in No Mans Sky I can shoot the bloody alien ships out.
Very slow charging FSD all 12 odd seconds of it. I'll tell you what the future is going to be a right ball ache...well a Frontier future at least!
Not enough missions in these big busy stations, should be at least 100 in there to choose from, come on.
But generally my main gripe are the weak useless guns against NCP craft in this sorry game. I even took them off to save mass for all the use they are...spring powered piddly widdly guns firing BB's in Elite Dangerous starships I tell people who are interested in the game..then they go "Oh really" and don't buy it.

No kidding, I really miss the wedding barge messages...
I am a married man so hearing those guys made me feel better...[big grin]
