I noticed today that we can download the single player version for the standard beta.

When the standard beta starts at the end of this month, will single player still be available to play or are we forced to play multi player only?

???? What version are you on, Beta standard or premium? Asking that, cause if you say that as with Standard Beta (not yet released) you can d/l and play the single player, I AM IN TONIGHT!!!!

Thanks guys.

Just have been reading about the griefing going on and would like to play some and get use to the game before I have to deal with the "I only do PVP" crowd. :)

For the next 10+ years as you'll be playing Elite :D

hate ya, I KNEW I shouldn't get into the forum and read until it's out!!!! So, now it's payed, just d/l... afterwards I guess I might read stupid newbie questions :D

EDIT:
HELL! The d/l started well, 2Mbytes/Sec.... now dropped to 0.02 MB/sec.... get all off the servers NOW and wait 5 minutes till I get it :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I may be wrong but I'm guessing what you can download at the moment are the single player scenarios not the single player version of the beta. The scenarios are fun and give you an intro to some of the games mechanic but you won't have all the options for game play that you will see in the beta at the end of he month.

standard beta single player missions

For those of you who have been playing ED for a while, this question is aimed at you. Or i guess also aimed at other new players like me.

Downloaded the single player game the other day and made it through the first 3 missions easily. The 4th mission, where you have to take out 4 ships that are shooting back at you - so far best I have managed is to take out 2 of the 4 ships before i got blown up.

I'm just trying to figure out if this is really hard, or I'm just really bad ;)

Might i be missing something when doing this mission? Some non-obvious tip or trick?

thanks, i didn't see that thread. I'll post in that one - a mod can close or delete this one if you want.

thanks

Is there off-line single player?

Hi, is Elite: Dangerous a multiplayer only game or is there an off-line single player mode? If so, are there missions to do?

Hi SOAR, please review the kickstarter videos, the official Elite game site and the official youtube channel. You will most certainly find that there will be a range of ways from offline single player, online single player, various types of group filtered multiplayer, to all player multiplayer mode. Check the latest E:D newsletter and you will find that starting with the standard beta Elite will be releasing single player builds of the game: http://eepurl.com/YgNbH:

A Match Made in Heaven?

We are putting a lot of effort into creating engaging and fun multiplayer game-play. Elite: Dangerous is all about freedom, and you will of course have choices. Beta 1 will have the first stage of our functionality for matchmaking.

We hope and expect most people will choose to play with the full online community, but from Beta 1 you will have other options too. You will be able to create friend lists, and just play with a group you create from that list. Another new option is single player. From Beta 1 you will now be able to play on your own if you like. You will still encounter other ships in the game, but they will always be AIs.

Good luck commander, or soon to be commander ;)

Full blown single player offline is planned for finished game, but it will come later, currently we are all testing multiplayer. Most likely we will get more news on it during Beta.

It's limitations comparing to multiplayer version is lack of user driven events and less evolving galaxy elements. It won't be completely static though, they say they haven't completed feature list for that one. You won't be able to move your offline commander to online.
