Mobius is not a game mode. It is not officially supported. Its a workaround.

I think many are looking to FD for an official position. "Mute" is not a valid position.

Truth is, Open offers little 'friendly interaction other than "Hey I flew past you". This will likely continue through Horizons. Open caters much more willingly (through inaction) to griefers (I'm fine with pirates). The griefers are the ones being anti-social, not the pirates or outfitted-for-trade ships that become prey.

Its hard to undock in a high-end ship, to be rammed to death by some idiot outside - that's not player interaction, that's plain stupidity. "Role-playing a murderer" - what rot. Open should be renamed to "Open to Abuse".

Open just needs more mechanisms by which players can take measures into their own hands - cooperative missions, find-a-player function, players with bounties locked into Open (where they can be found and well, 'harvested'). And a 1 minute wait before logging off, or no log off in combat, to prevent marks from fleeing by combat logging.

Its all just scripting for the bulletin board. The logic is easy to lay out.

" that's not player interaction," it is the very definition of it.

Well you cannot ignore commanders who have discovered first systems. You will also see their faction name in the right when you dock. YOu wont be able to avoid it completely.
Avoid completely is one thing (and unnecessary to boot), ignore is another. And yeah, I ignore things like that. I mean, why should I even care? It's not like who was the first to get somewhere, or who uplifted a minor faction, is of any importance to me or changes anything in my gameplay.

Like I said, I can't understand the people that find it important to plaster their names everywhere.

Two? i thought there was only one. You can argue whether they are "features" or not, i don't mind. I just said I personally would like to see more of that. I dont recall setting a bar for anything, but if you wish :)

They were as much "content" as the old offer of a physical Elite badge to those that made to Elite rank in the 1984 game. In the case of the Race to Elite contest, I would say literally so. I also don't think we will see many more of that; both were done for the advertisement value, and given how much time went since the last one (nearly half a year ago, before the game had even launched on Steam), I don't think they had a good return for the money spent on prizes.

Out if interest, they may introduce a competition for CQC players that does not involve NPC's. Do you think that would be unfair?
Most Solo and Group players, myself included, seem to be perfectly fine with CQC, at least judging by the reactions from those that post here. And, as far as we know, CQC doesn't involve NPCs at all, it's all player versus player.

CQC is a pure Arena, instanced, fully consensual PvP minigame without penalties for losing. Which makes it very different from the PvP to be found in Open, and for a certain kind of player far more enjoyable. The fully consensual part, in particular, means that many people that won't touch Open with an AU-sized pole seem willing to give it a try.

If this game was PVE only I would probably not play it. The possibke danger that every commander poses is something I love about this game. As a lowbie I was terrified of everyone and ran all the time. I got braver and better equipped, now I hunt wanted players and seek out my powerplay enemies.

It is simple to understand. They want recognition, and want to be remembered. Like all those explorers who discovered worlds, or the Commanders who had Worlds named after them. Sounds cool to me.

Either way, I would like to see more online only stuff. I have no idea what they spent though, did they release that info? Given it was a promotion I thought the cards were provided free from Nvidia.

Given the numbers on this forum, and the numbers who own the game, I do not presume to know what they think. The majority 800000 have not made their opinions known, and soon the XBOX players will be having their say on the galaxy, as they will share it somewhat.

"The fully consensual part, in particular, means that many people that won't touch Open with an AU-sized pole seem willing to give it a try."

I actually like the non consensual aspect to Open PvP, adds a thrill to it, when chasing AND being chased. I would find the lack of risk less enjoyable, but that is my opinion. Also, it is good to hear players are being enticed out of solo only to engage in some PvP. We may get a few converts to Open when they get a taste for combat :)

Not sure how easy it will be for Fdev to work on implementing codes which take the potential pvp interaction out by creating another PVE server (keeping in mind everyones action across all modes and other game systems are equal on a one to one basis), or official instance and honestly it seems creating better group management for people like Mobius would go a long way, and wouldn't only be a positive for that group but also other groups.

YEeh I believe Open Play is a good tool for shaping a Cmdr, it selects for the toughest in my opinion.

I am not really a big PVP player, but I feel the same if it became PVE only, of if they created a separate official instance/server. There are much better ways imho to improve the system in place already without drastically carving out areas, and these have been mentioned in this thread.

On my way there now to umm, escort you Roybe. See you soon.

Hugs and kisses

Come on out! The ball is in your court! Make your decision on how to play this and keep to it!

I'm really hoping open pve mode will happen some time.
A private group just isn't the same thing as a mode that is on clear view for everyone when logging in and has damage from other players disabled instead of just counting on everyone just respecting the agreement.
Also in Mobius I still can't pve conflict zones, I have to switch to solo for that.

It would be great if Elite had Open PvE. Mobius is nothing like Open PvE which would have the combined population of players from Solo plus Mobius. I've played Open and didn't enjoy the bullies...uh...I mean...I didn't enjoy the gankers, extortionists, CODE, etc. (Sorry, I still have a hard time seeing the difference between them).

Off-topic but...

Before I slog my way through the 12 PAGES that came up in about an hour or so, can any of you guys who offered to help Mouse with some Palladium HELP US WITH THE limpets?

Doesn't matter who makes the wing: me, Mouse or Julissa. We abandon; Mouse moves in... but the limpets keep exploding on the cargo bay doors! Keeps happening. ANYONE have a clue as to why or what we should do? Thanks!!!

... we now return you to your solo-open-group donnybrook.
