Why isnt it part of the game? Of course it is. You just need to wing up and fly together! That, alone, even in open mode, is likely enough to dissuade me from attempting to attack you.

If you are flying a lone ship, and its something I have a reasonable chance of killing in my Cobra, ill engage you.

I will be less willing to do so if you are flying something I can EASILY destroy, but are escorted by a wing of fighter craft. Isnt that more fun anyhow? And it really doesnt get more co-op than that.

If I have to get a wingman to play the game.. I am gone.. while I do like winging up, if it becomes mandatory.. then this game has devolved into Eve.. and I wasted a LOT of money.

Don't be. She has been returned to her original position and has, if it was even possible, become more defensive of her charges. I have it on good authority that she even relishes thinking about the PC commanders death screams as they lose more and more to her evil designs. MoM™ has been back for a while and I am sure there will be some serious updates/upgrades coming past the release of Horizons (I mean come on, she did have to get those skimmers and bases working properly first!)

When you say MoM I keep thinking of MOM from the Photon book series.. she is supposed to be on our side

I've noticed that some of us don't mind to engage into psychological analysis of other thread posters so I decided to present one of my own. Please don't judge me too harshly.

I'm dare to point out that those who advocate for the removal of Open and restricting PVP are the ones who realize that can't compete in game. This is why they resort to the forum campaign in order to obtain their imaginary revenge. Pretty much the same happens in the office environment with those who can't compete professionally and turn to backstabbing and backstage intrigues. Such approach renders the highly political companies dysfunctional. This can also happen to the game should we continue to follow this direction.

Just my 5 cents.

Relying on the brute force in order to obtain order shows the very limited viewpoint on the social mechanisms. What holds pirates from English channel is not Royal Navy, but the supremacy of law and human rights. Talking about Royal Navy don't you know that the crown of English queen has embedded diamonds obtained from pirate raids?

I know I am broken and freely admit it, yet I have to ask.. who is asking for the removal of Open? The answer is no one... it is a claim brought on by Open players, yet no one has seriously asked for it unlike the serious "demands" that solo and group be segregated from the game or removed entirely.

The comments about removing Open have been faticious and are used to prove a point, not to remove Open..

Your 5 cents is really aimed at the Open crowd who fearfully can't deal with public knowledge of a PVE-mode that people can chose from the start to be social about because they fear the loss of unwilling victims for them to prey on in game.

And I love all the emotional talk about how it is just a game and people who have emotions need to just suck it up.. yet there are emotions from those same people when they feel their playstyle is threatened.. and apparently they don't watch any sports because it may be just a game.. but look at the reactions of those who played it and from fans.

emotions are a part of the game.

"Devolved" into EVE? EVE, that has been around for over 10 years? If only it would be that lucky. That, sir, is an achievement. The largest player driven game ever created, running on a SINGLE SERVER, running two games, cross platform (EVE and DUST) (a revolutionary concept, form a technical standpoint). I even went to Iceland for last year's fanfest, to meet the devs, drink with a few in game enemies, and even saw the rare friend (blue) here and there. A fantastic game, with a fantastic community.

I have high hopes for this game, and I realize its still in its infancy as far as the long term goes. Its already better than it was just a short year back, with wings added, trade map fixed (thank god..) and multiple other additions and improvements.

As to my wingman comment, I was only answering Jockey when he stated something along that line, not suggesting it as a requirement to play... just that the option to use it is there, and beneficial.

I think this will be easy enough to implement. The only problem what if Mobius founder losses interest and decides to disband the group. Such groups shoud be FD driven.

This is why a OPen-PVE mode was suggested..

you do realize that was from over a year ago and that is no longer the case. PVP is ONLY permitted in group in CZs.

I do. Thats the reason I posted it. Its odd to see the original idea of the founder of the group being quite different from what it "devolved" into.

EVE is a "dirty" word around here (along with references to Star Citizen - unless you are insulting either, that is ok).

There are quite a few (none PvP'ers) about, who have tried the more PvP centric EVE-Online and are familiar with 0.0 Space, n00b ganking in safe space, blob wars and time dilation based combat.
Any sort of EVE comparison or suggesting brining features from there to here - are an automatic death sentence and you are expected to throw yourself under a bus immediately.

So, EVE is the cesspit of space games and MMOs, Star Citizen is the crazed dreams of people with more money than sense who have paid a rip of artist for a game that will never be made.

What? Thats really odd. I know quite a few immigrants from EVE here, myself being one of them. EVE is a shining beacon of what ANY game should aspire to be, a full, rich world where the PLAYERS make the story, and the devs make the lore for the backdrop. Many people hate it because they lose ships. As soon as you discover that SHIPS ARE AMMO, the entire face of the reality changes, and the world is your toy.

As for SC... well.. we can dream. If its ever a reality, ill play it. If not, I wont.

Well that explains it.. you want Eve in a cockpit and that is something I refuse to submit too.

And I do say devolve.. because I don't care how much people fanboy it.. . Eve isn't what it used to be.. it used to be a fun enjoyable game where those who wanted to PVP could and those who didn't could still enjoy the game... but some PVPers decided that those that don't PVP were apparently spoiling their game play.. so High Sec is now a joke and the PVP gank squads freely take out people using disposable ships with little to no fear of CONCORD.

And you may be joking, but in Eve.. that is how you had to fly.. if you were solo you were toast it was hard to do but there have been others besides me who gave up years of gameplay and loyalty and just walked away... because of EVE's inability to offer a non PVP gameplay anymore. I had so much joy exploring, finding wormholes, trading.. all that down the tubes...
