If they discontinued solo mode I wouldn't play anymore either.
I'm quite happy for ED to remove SOLO. I'd just start my own private group with no one else in it.

Damn! I should have done that as an April Fools yesterday - Announcement: Solo & Group modes to be axed!![]()
No point in getting angry, it's merely the default taunt - playground stuff!
Indeed whilst sometimes it gets my back up, when I think about it it is so comical to hear the word coward or scared thrown around. A mate of mine retired from the royal air force with honourable discharge getting called a coward by a spotty keyboard warrior.... Priceless really![]()
In the MMO world, were just suppose to be abused at will. Well "ED" doesn't stand for that, and I'm glad. Hopefully they will usher in a new foundation for all "MMO" to come. Actually I think this is what terrifies the PVP Crowd.
They may actually be forced to play in the spirit of the game, and that will never do for the hard core greifer types.
Isn't this meant to be a sandbox mmo? Giving people the option to go on their own "instance server" is just taking away from the sandbox style of game play. You know what will happen don't you? Someone will be killed while trading and they'll just go on the single player server :/
It should just be one shard were everyone is on the same server that way it helps to build community and relationships. You log onto server A on Monday and on Tuesday you log onto server B, how is this going to affect the community aspect of the game?
The game does not feel like a mmo at the moment if I'm honest with you. An mmo without guilds? With the extremely small server limit I would not call this game a mmo at all.
What would happen if they couldn't switch to solo? They would stop playing since they can't enjoy the game or switch profession.
There is no way to enforce "victim traders" in open. Especially because the other options get pushed in regards of profit.
As for the "relationship" aspect... I don't want relationships.
I wasted enough years on MMOs, doing things i didn't want to at that given moment just because the guild needed me.
And that answers your last paragraph. Some people don't want guilds.
And i couldn't care less if the game can't be called "MMO".
In fact, that's a big plus for me![]()
I know - refreshing, ain't it!An mmo without guilds?
I've never known a player to stop playing a game because they were killed. Sure if they could never undock without being killed I could understand but this isn't the case.
If you don't want a guild then don't join one.

Every time I see someone use "coward" as an insult here, I get the mental image of a 5 years old yelling "lame"; it's about as profound
Kinda has already happened. AFAIK the last big budget (at release) game that catered to their play style was Ultima Online, and even then it was by accident, because the team didn't want to enable that kind of abuse. EVE doesn't count here because, at release, it was a tiny indie game with very small budget (and it was released over a decade ago anyway).
There are some other games that kinda, but not completely, cater to them. ArcheAge is one; there is "mandatory" PvP, but it's only mandatory for those that care about building houses or ships, and the looting is restricted to just the item traded for the building materials (except for pirates and criminals, those can be looted). Similar with Lineage; players can be attacked, but only the reds (those that have attacked other players without provocation in the past) can be looted.
If you look at most MMOs released in the last decade, they tend to be games where PvP is fully optional and the main, sometimes only, way for a player to directly harm the enjoyment of others is by being a jerk in chat. The days of MMOs being known as games where the strong prey on the weak are long past, nowadays most MMO players never played a game that forces them into PvP.
Yea, I haven't played some of those. I don't know why many get the idea, I don't like PVP. It's all a matter of how it's formatted. I love PS2, as a matter of fact, it's probably my favorite PVP game. But games like EVE never really measured up in the PVP category in my opinion. I do agree with "Jolly Fingers" though, I'll never join another guild. Even in PS2 I'm a rouge, and love it that way.
I always liked a good evenly matched fight, there the ones that always made me laugh out loud. Where's the good fight when 4 or 5 gankers show up to kill a lone hauler, "with no guns or no cargo" I might add. Where does that get to be fun? What fun is it to kill a 3 day old newb who is confused and lost?
Dear Grumpy, I can't believe I'm still reeling people in a day later. Did you check the date???![]()
