Hey I got your question through here is the timestamp of where it was answered.

Thanks for including my question Mr Nowak :D

They did not seem to like the idea lol

That race honestly looks more like something from a final fantasy minigame.
And it seems very mediocre at best, just flying trough hoops in a fishbowl with an uncontrollable ship. Unlike the commercial, the ships seems to have no stability at all.
Good thing they didn't get Jeremy Clarkson to test thing cause he would probably destroy the M50 on the terrible controls alone.

And is that race supposed to be in atmosphere? cause then it really should be flying like an airplane and not like a spaceship with crazy thrusters.

They wanted some variety for their maps... no changes for the flight model for now...

I remember watching a YouTube video demonstrating how your ship's 'centre of gravity' is located in the cockpit, in Star Citizen. So the ship revolved around you, the pilot, when it moved. It looked very absurd. Do anyone know if that has been (or will be) addressed, or if it's supposed to be that way in SC?

I think it was a trick of the camera and not actually a problem.

I downloaded and played a bit of Vanduul swarm.

Things I wasn't expecting:
- the cockpit is spectacularly inefficient. In practice it felt like I'm looking through a tiny 'square' in the middle of the screen. (this isn't entirely visual - the range of the gimbals seems to be more important).
- the lighting seems realistic (I'd read that ships were easier to see and was expecting strange lighting, but I didn't notice it. In a dark/red environment the vanduul were certainly dark).
- 'pick up helmet', 'open door', 'sit in chair'. If I need to do that for every take off/landing, then I'm going to get rather tired of it, rather fast. (I believe ED had to accelerate various take off/landing animations for that reason).

That's why right now you can use escape and access arena commander. The whole animation things are work in progress just like the whole game. Pretty sure we will have quick animation sets and fluid animations with a new use system.

0.9 feedback from a PAX visitor.

So I played .9 at PAX today and the increased speeds were fantastic! But I noticed one crucial thing, the g forces required to black out are still the same. Flying in the hornet with g safe off, I blacked out often

Controls are mad twitchy on that freebie ship. It's not that i'm not used to yaw, it's just that the slightest twist of my joystick sends it on full blast.
Can imagine the Vanduul swarm mode being a lot more fun in ships that aren't the space Volvo, and the game sure as hell looks great so far, but I figure i'll wait til more progress has been made. I hope they do another free preview thing in the future.

The advert posted on the previous page from the Gamescom presentations clearly states "New and Improved Flight Model"

"New and Improved" is a marketing term straight from toothpaste and washing powder commercials.
Logically it cannot be both, it is either a "New" flight model, or it is the old flight model but "Improved".
A better statement would have been "New, Improved Flight Model", suggesting a new version of the flight model which is an improvement on the old.

Semantics and usage of grammar - I know, I'm being picky, but I am one of those people who shouts at the 'lies' blurted out in tv commercials, and this "New and Improved" thing is one of my bug-bears :D

On topic - I am looking forward to trying out the new version, and I hope it is much better with my HOTAS than the current version. Also looking forward to trying out the racing track, but if the controls aren't fixed for my HOTAS then it's going to be a big disappointment for me.

Until I play it, I won't know, so until then.....

It reminded me of Superman 64, and that's really all that needs to be said about that.

Yea that makes sense because this looks like this right?

Racing might not be something you personally like but racing is a part of the Star Citizen universe since last year. We all knew it was going to come when we started reading the Murray Cup lores. This racing mode does look really nice.

Professional commentary and a nice futuristic looking track is all I need. Apparently there will be 2 modes for racing. One is the casual lap one and the other one will be called weapons hot which will unlock weapons during certain checkpoints during the race.

That sounds pretty good. Let's see how it plays when it releases.

Will you be able to throw banana skins?

He was probably talking about the gameplay.

I quite like the idea of racing, but he's right, the gameplay does 'look' very similar to superman64, also similar to harry potter broomstick flying.

However, I'm sure it'll 'feel' very different - at least I hope it does - it needs to be much faster-paced and difficult to have some credibility.

As it's quite Rome influenced I thought they'd go down the space Colosseum route. It appears to be a bit sterile at the moment.

This is only one of the tracks that will be in. It is the most clean and rich racing track. There will be more dirty and run down ones too. New Horizon represents an Elite F1 situation for the Murray Cup.

Ben Lesnick on a thought about commercials.

As much as i love this whole "in lore commercials" idea, i think it'd be extremely wasteful to do one for every single ship. Even more so for every single variant. In fact, i for one hope they stop soon... a couple more that were already in the plans and that's it.

Ben Lesnick: One of the things that people don't realize about the commercials is that they aren't just entertaining or selling ships... they also help teach the cinematics team to do increasingly impressive work in the engine, building up the skills we need to make Squadron 42 great!
