It looks lovely.
More time wasted on cinematics when they should be fixing the game though.

Fan-Made.

Looks authentic, realistic even, until you remember it's designed to be flown with two buttons and a mouse.

More like 45 buttons and a mouse.

Why blame critics who feel CR has BSed them, guys who are now having to constantly defend themselves because of the fan culture. There is the cause of your acrimony. Can you imagine if every company had a myopic fanbase instead of a customer base we'd all be getting shafted left right and center. This is down to one guy, Chris Roberts and his ongoing pretense there is nothing to acknowledge. Write him a letter if it saddens you so.

Apologies if your comment wasn't directed at the critics only it seems like all the other comments directed at us only slightly better disguised.

Hmm..your reply, Bains, proves one thing. You don't pay particular attention to what you are reading. Or maybe my post was too mundane or sterile for you. Would you have paid more attention to my words if they had been hostile towards SC and full of invective? Perhaps if I had given the developers of the game wholesome praise my words would have registered with you.

Don't you get tired of this stream of invective comments that are paraded here, like some sort of trophy, by those who have already decided that the game is not for them? Wouldn't those who have genuine grievances and concerns be better served by posting in forums which are more likely to be seen by those who could address their grievances and concerns? I've usually found that it is those with the least to lose who shout the loudest on forums like these.

I'm proud of all the projects I've supported. I revel in the success of DB and the fulfillment of his dream (and ours) after so many years. I am continually amazed by JP and this young man's ardent wish to create his own masterpiece. And I admire CR for attempting to achieve what, for him, seemed like the impossible not that long ago.

SC may not be the BDSGE on delivery but like DB, JP and a fistful of other talented and passionate developers I've backed I wish them all success in their endeavors.

I will leave you to your depressingly familiar conversation.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Fire monkey, respectfully, but how many of those keys are actually used whilst playing AC?

I don't believe there's much use for anything other than S in its current implementation. When I get back from work, I'll load up AC and a keylogger, and see exactly what gets used in a typical session by 2 or 3 different people. That's the fairest test I can come up with given my limited resources.

It's still a fan video...

Ya, AnythingFPS is really good at fiddling with the cryengine. I enjoy his videos.

I am also looking forward to the 0.9 update, which should hopefully be released within 2 weeks. Then I can finally rebind my keys without doing it in that tekst file.

Looking at that chart, I use mostly all of them except for the LEFT UP RIGHT DOWN keys, Fire Group 4/3, O (Dont need lights atm) and the BACK key. There's also some keys I use more rarely like the Change Camera or View Mode, but I do from time to time if I want a nice screenshot.

The rest I use all the time either by pressing manually or by using my VoiceAttack software. So it does all the clicking for me. I especially use the VoiceAttack software to boost my shields at a given location, or to change power output from Engines, to Shields to Weapons. Since it's kinda hard changing all that manually at the moment.

Off Topic:

Been playing around with ED for the last few days, and it's really hard flying around keeping a steady target at the enemy with those laserbeam guns, I'm basically useless at dogfighting for the time being since I am unable to aim consistently at the enemy.

So atm I am just hyperdriving around the PU doing simple package missions hoping everyone just ignores me. I've been spoilt with the YAW from SC, since I am unable to move around properly with the ROLL, I keep spinning and spinning during combat :p Hopefully it will get better with practice. I'm using HOTAS (Cheap Thrustmaster setup), though I have also tried a few custom scenarios with my K&M, and I find it extremely hard using it (K&M that is). You guys will probably dislike me for saying this, but I kinda prefer the YAW in SC to ROLL in ED.

Also, I should probably disclaim that I have not been able to finish the last custom scenario, I keep getting blown up xD

I'm guessing it doesn't occur or matter to you that you perfectly illustrated the personal commentary those who are critical of CR and SC must endure. For calling out your milder first offence your response has been to come back with a more full blown example. Personally I find the blind fanboyism depressingly familiar. I guess its a question of taste. To me you represent a contentless culture of personally attacking critics who disturb the echo chamber of praise for mediocrity, hard to describe as anything other than perverse and part of the real problems plaguing this project.

So sorry I can't stand beside you in the choir and join in with your vocal harmonies.

Thinking about this fan made material. How far do you think modders will be able to go with SC? I mean will people be able to come in and put out versions with more than just cosmetic changes? like different flight models and control schemes? Seems to me when modders get their hands on a game they can really do amazing things.

That's the plan.
As things stand, I intend to do it myself. I will not be adding my own ships though as I lack the 3D design skils to do that. So it will be all the stock assets, but I'll fix the game, and probably be running a 'no-mouse' server.

It will be some time before this can come to fruition though. No promises on a delivery date, and no marketing campaign, and no P2W.

I completely forgot about this aspect of the game. It will be moddable!

Since the game will have the option to make private servers modding will be fully supported, if some mods get popular they might think about including them in the PU.

If you visit the foruns the Modding Area is filled with WiP ships and stuff.

How will modding work?
Players will be given full control of their game! When operating private servers, players will be able and encouraged to mod the game. It doesnt stop there, though: we hope to institute a mod approval process that will allow the best of the best player created ships and other additions to be integrated into the central persistent world as well.

I ask this because it seems the persistent world will be getting intermittent small add on story content as well and it would be such a shame to miss out on all of this stuff.

Thanks again for everything.

We will definitely be constantly updating/tweaking the persistent world. We haven't spent much time on designing the local server experience yet, so I'm not sure how (or if) updates would flow to a local server.

I'm glad you posted this. pitch yaw on the mouse (i.e look up, down, left and right), and WSAD keys.

It just occurred to me whats wrong this picture. Its bog standard default FPS controls...

EDIT

Right down to SHIFT run (afterburner)

LOL

It is CoD in space, that is what we are going to get.
OK, I've played mouse pitch&yaw space games, and they can be fun - but please CIG, don't tell us it's something other than what it is. And I still feel betrayed by the original 'vision' presented by CR last year.

I look forward to your total flight model/control scheme conversion mod ;)

EDIT

Then we just need to wait for someone to do a perfect replica of a millennium falcon :)
