How about you start yourself then? :)

I try my best to share as much information and news as i can, but some people just prefer cynicism and negativism over rational, positive information.

For some, when StarCitizen is the subject, the glass is allways half empty, never half full.

To each is own.

Still don't stop posting info here as many of us like to know about updates but are disgusted (wel I am) by SC forums

Everyone is entitled to their opinions. As long as the discussion is civil and respectful there's room for all viewpoints.

I think that sometimes we get so hung up on the details that we can't see our commonality. We're all gamers. We all have an interest in the revival of the space trading/adventure game be it SC or ED or both.

In the end, any disagreements along the way can be summed up as "first world problems" and that's it. :p

Not everyone who criticizes SC is a cynic though (not that I have problem with cynicism, actually I quite understand it).

Also I don't see how being overly negative is worse than being overly positive.
Especially since CR and CIG's development and marketing strategies are as they are.
Not everyone would agree on them.

Here's yet another guy who doesn't like what he sees: http://www.tentonhammer.com/columns/respawn/cult-star-citizens-delays

All in all though, I despise the "sell everything" funding scheme and I'm not excited by the game as it is now at all.
However I will remain cautious but with hope for something to surprise me down the line (fingers crossed for the FPS module).

I was really excited at the time I backed and followed every development update. After a while I started to see a lot of sales and not much progress. What really brought me down was the actual fanatism on the game, every time CR had a letter saying dorry for the delays you could see comments like "take as much as you need, you guys work hard and need a break, we can wait longer" that got me really disapointed because they do see those comments and keep delaying stuff without worries.

SC ruined game backing for me. Thats why I came to elite when the standard beta was done and there was actually great cobtent tk be shown ( sorry kingdom come :().

So I might seem like negative sometimes but how can you not be disapointed when they are repeating the same thing all the time "release next week" " ups sorry we need another week to work on it"

Is this the first time that "10 for the chairman" hasn't been released on Monday? Is CR for once too busy for his video small talk? ;)

10 For the Chairman episodes are recorded on Friday the week before they are released. So the reason why it didn't release was this:

Yeah there was a problem with the edit. We have really been trying all day but it looks like we wont be able to make it. I should have said something sooner but we kept trying to upload it but there seems to be an issue that might force us to mix this episode all together. We are trying to get it up by tomorrow morning but if not I will let you know. We are sorry guys.

He's right about many things, but I especially liked his comment:

Star Citizen is full of excuses for why it's an outlier, from "they're working on all modules concurrently" to "the best game ever to exist needs extra time in the oven," while additional ships are loaded into the shop seemingly with each announcement.

It's really a fact, and it's sad.

LOL that reviewer is exactly like some posters here, uninformed and plained biased towards a game he has hardly played.

1st off he starts with a big troll signal by saying, and i quote:

"Now, before we begin this crusade, let me highlight that I’m no troll and I’m not making the point the game will never release, even though it might not."

- Whenever people feel the need to say "their not *something*" its because they really are. Their just know its gonna be so blatant that they try to hide it trough denial upfront.

2nd - Talks about delays (like many here) when he has no idea why they happened in the first place. (was explained posts ago by user Dante80 Read His Post which in fact "owned" preety much all the posters before him spreading misconceptions and wrong assumptions.)

3rd - Writes a "piece" on Setember 1st about a work in progress game, but uses a 3 months old source from a "MaskedGamer" that had prior to that experience 1 hour if that much of game time.

Also describes ArenaCommander like this : "If you haven’t seen the dogfighting simulator or “Arena Commander” then you haven’t missed much, it’s a buggy almost unplayable simulator with the most barebones of everything, including horrible controls."

Meanwhille 500k people are playing it just fine.

"For the record and I will argue this point with ANYONE, but in the time that they’ve had, the amount of progress they could have made so far should be exponentially more than what they have."

Again with the dellays, knows nothing about the game, never followed it, just confused why are people spending that much on it, doesnt understand it, bashes people that did it.

What a Failure of human being.

Amount of "supporters" /= "amount of players playing it just fine".

You'd probably find that a small (but very vocal vocal) subsection of the above are "playing it just fine" while the rest are either keeping the proposed game on the backburner, or won't even look at it until it's done.

BTW, until CR provides something more than shinnies and mostly broken tech demoes (also called pre-alpha), there is no game.

Game is Free2Play till 8 September, im preety confident that more than 500k people will play it over these days, check youtube theres a LOT of "newbie" movies there.

On another note, heres a nice Video about the mechanics of CounterMeasures: Chaff s & Flares > http://youtu.be/qSl3o7u8u0s
(Work in progress)

Also despite the game being only in pre-alpha, war is already taking place in more subtle ways: http://youtu.be/vb_ou_pEhBw

Definitely less than 500k are playing it. 578K - Star Citizens - registered accounts. UEE fleet is about 446K and as far as I understand - this means number of players who have ship packages. A lot of them are not playing until at least next update.

I'd like to say that I'm not always right, I'm not the president of the united states, and you don't owe me $500 :).

Also describes AC like this : "If you haven’t seen the dogfighting simulator or “Arena Commander” then you haven’t missed much, it’s a buggy almost unplayable simulator with the most barebones of everything, including horrible controls."

For me, the backgrounds looked great and the ships look pretty - that's the sum of my positive thoughts during the short time I spent with the alpha. Honestly, that's not what I expecting to say...

But, I clearly don't know whether 500k people agree with my view of the game. That's not something that I'm qualified to talk about :).

Again, I'm still curious how people can point out that Star Citizen is so delayed because it's "huge" and "ambitious" and didn't have all those extra decades of skunkworks development that ED had when there is a perfect counter-example staring them in the face.
Limit Theory. Written by 1 programmer in the same time period as Star Citizen, yet what's currently available to players is much further along than all of the available SC modules combined.

I wonder how many of those freebies played for more than 10-15 minutes? I have the basic aurora package, and tried AC once; I had too turn off after about 15 minutes because it was so appalling... It was released far too early in my view.

I am hopeful that SC will be good in the long run, and will give it another go after it reaches 0.9 or maybe 1.0. I am mainly interested in squadron 42.

What a Failure of human being.

Yet he's writing a column on a well-known gaming website and you made an account to defend SC on the Elite forums.
I'd love to hear your definition of "Failure of human being".

Whenever people feel the need to say "their not *something*" its because they really are. Their just know its gonna be so blatant that they try to hide it trough denial upfront.

Thanks for the rational thought.
Next time I see someone waving a white flag and saying they're unarmed, I'll shoot them in the face, because that means they are armed. Right?

I mean he couldn't possibly know how aggressive some people get over defending SC could he?

"...and the community will jump down your throat in half a heartbeat if you dare try to comment on it as anything but an example of what is to come."

Talks about delays (like many here) when he has no idea why they happened in the first place.

Every delay happens for a reason.
Knowing the reason doesn't make the delay not a delay.

For some, when StarCitizen is the subject, the glass is allways half empty, never half full.

To each is own.

Whether the glass is half full or half empty depends on your expectations of the contents of the glass.
If you were promised a BDSSE by CIG's marketing machine then you expect a full glass, when you get half, are you gonna be happy with half, or disappointed that you are missing half of what you were promised?
And yes it's still in development, the glass is being filled, but it won't fulfill it's promises until it's full.

It's pretty much their own doing that they get criticized because they marketed the game under a subjective term like BDSSE. Everyone will have a different idea about what their BDSSE is, this will leave a lot of people disappointed in the end because no matter what, their glass won't be full.
Both optimists and pessimists want the game to be great, there's just no consensus about what 'great' really is.

I currently am not optimistic about the game because there's already quite a few elements in there that will make the game fall short of being a BDSSE for me (or even just a good space sim for that matter).
And every few updates new such elements get added.
The only thing i am glad about is that i have not yet pledged anything to the game.
