Well it is technically possible.

You'll get one minute per frame though :D

You underestimate the quality of 'the frame'. Such is its fidelity, it resonates at such a frequency that it generates its own unique submersive universe for those 10 seconds, completely enveloping the player in the SC world. It's like VR but on another level.

Not being a games designer and non spiritual guru - you won't understand that.. Thankfully Chris does.

*OHHHMMMM*

PS. Chris will add angels at a later date along with the ability to meet God (that's Chris on a stellar cloud with 12 arms and legs programming the universe in real time).

"So, there are no schedule updates to present here as this was a performance improvement patch..."

So no updated schedule published yesterday, and CIG has used the 2.6.3 as an excuse for it.

Ok.

Wait, what? As long as people are funding it? 140 million isn't enough? :O

Ok, so, that tells me either ship sales will continue after launch, or "insurance" or maybe subscriptions? Maybe something they said they would never do after launch.... or paid DLCs.... or maybe they will stick to cosmetics.

CIG never stop telling fidelity lies, the list is long, it's the core of the company, and they feel no shame doing it.

Ok.

Sounds about right. Personally I think they are going to hold off showing/saying too much until E3 in June but the actual delivery will be for Gamescom in August. That way they gain the additional time they need as well as double dipping from 2 major shows.

Was reading an article about another game and came across this bit regarding procedural generation

Some of these visuals, such as the human settlements, are tailor-made, but Beek estimates that about 80% of Horizon’s natural landscape is procedurally generated.

“Procedural nature simply means that the artist does not have to place every single rock, tree or blade of grass by hand,” Beek said. “Instead the artists define rules and draw maps on where they want to certain assets to appear. So with a simple paint stroke on the terrain they can have a collection of flowers to appear. It gives them a lot of control, but also a lot of speed when working on a world as big as Horizon’s.”

“But [the] artist can still place individual trees and such, which is often what they do to dress up vista point, or important roads, or cut-scenes, because we know a large amount of players will see that content and it is worth the effort to hand-craft it.”

I know CIG don't claim their PG techniques are unique but they do imply they are breaking the mould by doing things others aren't.

Back from some few month's absence....I see no SQ42 or SC Alpha 3.0 around, so I guess CIG is still on it's way to bankruptcy.

Or there's now some specific release dates to miss again? :D

I really hope someone is archiving all the statements by CIG to tell the story. There is indeed a possibility that when SC 1.0 releases Murray´s NMS retribution onslaught is going to look like a boring meme compared to that. There is even a sand worm.

Tinfoil hat time.

I think April the 14th may be the perfect opportunity for CiG to "accidentally delete" a lot of their own statements under the umbrella of clearing out old irrelevant information from an outdated forum.

If they purge old promises then SC's definitely crossed the deliberate scam event horizon.

You mean obviously FD will announce schedule for Season 3.0.

What are we talking about again? :)

Its painful, really. NMS and ED made tons of improvement since late oktober, whereas CIG delivered a buggy mediocre FPS with a few maps and added some extra bugs. Its not just that things didnt start well, it just keeps on going at snail's pace. In the wrong direction. :( Next week we'll get the camera suite, multi-crew, holo-me plus loads of small improvements. NMS just got basebuilding and ground-based vehicles. SC might get a schedule...

If it looks and feels like dead horse then it is dead horse.

I don't spend much time here for obvious reasons :) Even discussing potential fraud/lies is not fun anymore.

Fact I am more excited about 2.4 (which is definitely autumn release) and potential 3.0 for ED (not even announced) than any SC update these days...that's a sad end. And yes, 1 year ago I *wanted* CIG to release something good.

Speaking of witch let's check some recent NMS footage.

Totally called it. 2.6.3 is live. Next up, 2.6.4

ps: Want to know how they fixed the server lag/crash bug we've all been loling about? By removing a feature. Seriously.

- Fixed an issue where quantum traveling would create severe frame rate loss.
- Removed the ability to manually adjust engine power until Item 2.0.

Does that mean they are now concerned with actual early access game development instead of another asset refactoring because of CR or creating another useless Games Convention demo reel?

That's progress!

When's the next CIG embarrassment session anyway...I mean convention.

Its basically a cross between Discord/IRC and regular forums, with the advantage that it will be available in-game as well, so in future you will be able to troll the SC forums while trolling people in game :D

Its not too bad an idea although one has to wonder how much they spent on it, its not exactly like its essential. I'm not aware of any other dev/game that has done this, probably because I don't see much value to it. I mean, really, would you like the forums to be in your face in ED while playing? Ugh... how horrible.

In any large MMO I have been part of (Eq and WoW mainly), Power Guilds would always use external comms channels ahead of anything in-game, to avoid monitoring by CS staff... No fun discussing "grey area" boss mob tactics when all of a sudden a GM appears and starts swinging the ban hammer!

Even besides that, you avoid in-game comms like the plague because you can't use them to tell your team that you just disconnected or crashed and what they should do to handle that.
