Probably yes....but who cares Sir Braben can pull the "rule of cool" card when ever he wants,He made popular game that works as intended 2 years ago and it´s clearly expanding into something even bigger and better....
So can Chris Roberts, he keeps making popular games and clearly expanding into something much bigger and better...

Not to retread over this territory, but how many games did Chris Roberts make from beginning to end? And when was the last one he made (also from beginning to end)? I won't even require the "popular" qualifier for an answer.

Edit: I knew I took too long to respond.

No blow is too low!

"Yo' CEO so fat, when he went EVA, Commandos thought the Bengal Carrier was in game!"

There that should set the barrel rolling off the cliff :p

*This is a weak attempt at satirising a common joke theme. CR looks like a reasonably healthy 50yr old who has been living well, so far as I can see (not that I take much interest).

I'm just looking at Wikipedia, which is not a trusty source...says created by Erin and Chris. Is there more to that story?

Ya, basically it was created by Warthog PLC, which was run by Erin Roberts, but funded threw Digital Anvil by way of Microsoft. So CR's name is attached to it, even though he had nothing to do with it.

Like with most games “by” Chris, he just conjured up the money — someone else did the actual development. For Starlancer, his only credit is as executive producer whereas Erin is credited for production, design, and original concept. The Elms brothers show up in original concept, project coordination, art direction, and mission design. Each bring their own production posse of familiar names, like Eric Peterson and Derek Senior.

Starlancer is a funny story since it was a bit of a case of brotherly competition: they did one *lancer each, only Erin completed his, whereas Chris' failure to deliver his entry led to his industry exit. I have a hard time imagining a more thorough trouncing. :D

Is there any intel as to how we've gone from 50 - 100 players to 1000s (based on the Gamescon interview)?

Has CR just given up on any pretence of not just making stuff up on the spot or is there some supporting substance for this latest info?

Given that we are currently at what 20? 30? (standing in underpants saluting doesn't count btw).

Intel? As in actual verifiable statements from CIG as to what exactly they are going to do, and how they are going to do it? No. Though if you want endless waffle about magic German netcode, along with links to videos from other developers doing something else entirely, there is plenty in this thread. Along with statements to the effect that since words (e.g. 'instance') can mean whatever you like, anyone can claim anything and not be wrong.

hits one of the many nails on the head. the fact this isn't downvoted into oblivion should say something.

Elite has a far more familiar and comfortable flight model. It is an "aero" plane in space. If I want Elite's flight model I can pop in the old Ace Combat series and get almost the exact same feel. This from an immersion standpoint kills it for me because spaceships should be able to move in 6DOF akin to a helicopter not airplane.... but to each his own.

That's the great thing about this project - anything can mean absolutely anything at any given time depending on the requirements of the relevant people at the relevant time.

Did base building get discussed here yet?
