Ouch. I thought they were going to go for a smooth progression of 'in a few months' delays, but 'the middle or end of 2017' sounds like they pretty much prepare the fanbase for a whole year again. So with SQ42 E1 end of 2017, that means SQ E3 will be done Q4 2018 at the soonest, and we wont see SC before 2019. If for the first time ever they actually stick to their launch dates.

This is actually the first time I sincerely think that 'next decade' may actually happen... :(

Not so much a problem for the fanbase, but if they're looking to late 2017 for SQ42 to compete against ME Andromeda & COD:IW (that will be entrenched by then - so maybe with DLC, pricedrops, etc)... It'll not end well. [where is it]

Yeah, when you look at the state of first-person shooting and such in SC I doubt they can compete with anything thats on the market now, never mind end of 2017...

End of next year means after the next Call of Duty.

Well, hey. With a bit of luck, the two will have reached market saturation and most players have already finished them (at least the SP part, in the case of COD) by the time SQ42 comes out, giving it some niche role as a cheap and temporary low-effort filler between the mainstream releases. :p

Yeah... plus with the whole multiplayer thing, folks will be more tempted to play something that their mates do, for teaming up etc.

And, if COD has a decent single player campaign (ME almost certainly will) ugh. Timing is bad.

I think it has been shrunk to 1:20 for planets and 1:10 for distances. A little bit disappointing, if you ask me - but then also understandable.

And most of the SC fanbase already paid for SQ42 when it was still a combi-deal.

Other than every single ship in the game for the next few years until SC releases.

How so? You can rent every ship with REC, you can ask for someone to borrow you one, heck you can even steal them, ah and don't forget the Free Fly Weekends were you don't even need to pay for the game to play. ;)

About the Size of the Star Citizen Universe, ofc it will be smaller, there's no point in having a huge universe with billions and billions of systems if you can't make them interesting and unique, even if you spice them up with fauna and different colour schemes people get bored of it really fast. Just look at what happened with No Man's Sky.

No, I am not talking about the number of systems, but the size of whats in them. SC systems are condensed: smaller planets closer together than in reality. How big a deal that is is up to anyone to decide. I see SC more as the Star Wars equivalent of space games, so its more important to have an interesting backdrop rather than a realistic one. But regardless, the criticism is correct: space is smaller in SC.

As for the ships, its not a strong criticism, I agree.

Unless you're looking to replicate the Milky Way or something....

Wow never ever in wildest dreams saw that SQ42 would be pushed out to middle or end of next year. Let's be honest here the end of 2017 is much more likely at this point they'll not want to clash with the other similar releases. Plus there's loads of whaling to do in the mean time <rubs hands greedily>

Not really. They'll have the assets and script finished by the end of 2017. Then they'll have more mocap to do in 2018. Then CR will notice some green pixels in the script, which will be refactored, and then everyone will have to come back in to re-re-re-mocap in 2020. Meanwhile ship sales and clothing specials every few weeks - they will introduce Pets and Hats 2.0, local physics grids will be fully enabled - at which point it will be realised that the render engine chokes on the physics grids, and Netcode* 42.0 isn't compatible with Pets and Hats 2.0 - so yet more refactoring crunch time joy for the poor developers.

* yes I know it's a junk term - but it feels appropriate here.

I am not surprised by the delay of SQ42 to be honest and I think it is a shrewd move. Now they can release after COD:IW and know what the competition has done.

Well I don't know if real life knife company's and virtual sci-fi gadgets connect in terms of "law" but in the Star Citizen Universe knifes are made by Ultiflex it seems, maybe they get sued in-the-verse [big grin]

Plenty of other here: http://starcitizen.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Weapon_Manufacturers

Lovely knife design but (and I'm no pro on knives) that grip isn't exactly ergonomic.
