sorry boys, never thought I'd be asked to prove this up.

seriously?

Especially as you yourself like to have links and sources for claims made

Yikes-- I was about to ask you for a source on that. Why deleted?

Oh well then forgive me for simply labeling your description as "too much kool-aid" until you provide any source or proof of said fairy tales. People usually ask for sources or links when claims are made you know....especially on THIS forum. I m sure you are not used to providing evidence for such things when posting in any of the echo chambers but in the real world things work a lil differently. We are not asking for much and a tiny lil thing like a 10 minute long capture of said "fun" would go a long way to quell these pesky nay-sayers.

I'm thinking of setting up an intra-org discord channel so we can actually plan out nights like that.

make sure to mention streams and ask for a link :)

Didn't CIG go to great effort and expense to set that up already? ;)

"soon" man, its not yet implemented :D

had a great time in SC last night -- two different orgs tried to gang up on ours, we thoroughly stomped them. Very nice glimpse of how things could play out -- we had around 20 ships at kareah, including a few "large" ships (I was driving a tali, other groups had a few connies), we had guys flying close support for the big guys, guys running the turrets on the big ships, and fast attack ships.

I'll admit this was rarity- - usually org battles at Kareah end up just being a mash-up, and some of the perfection was lost because there's still a no-penalty spawn, and getting back into the fight at Kareah after being killed basically just meant a minute or two delay, but couldn't help feeling last night that this was the game I signed up for... now, if only they could have been at this point two years ago !!

20+ ship. So how did you get past the hard coded ship cap? NVM the horrible performance of anything over 12.

sorry boys, never thought I'd be asked to prove this up. If you want to believe it never happened, that's your right. Do what you want. But it was fun as all hell, for something that never happened :)

Still doesn't compare to Elite - we had a 200 ship battle the other day. I had a capital ship and it was awesome directing my fighters using the fleet command interface - we used pythons to scatter cargo cannisters as distraction then my mate in his thargoid ship patrolled the edges to ensure they couldn't get behind us.

Simply amazing :D The EVA action and battle on their carrier was the most excitement I've ever felt in a game.

If you don't want to believe this it's your right, do what you want.

I believe you had fun, but it has nothing whatsoever to do with anything CIG have achieved. So you pew-pew'd some other players. Cool. Anything else? No. Certainly nothing from the epic list of unrealised project goals. But there's no multiplayer game in existence which can't be fun with a group of friends, regardless of how badly (under-)developed it is.

You can layer on a meta-narrative about how you were coordinating your attacks and acting out what you imagine was like a scene from Star Wars or BSG, but that's nothing to do with SC's game play, that's like children pretending to be fighter pilots in a playground.

Where did you get 20+ from?

not sure I get where you're going.. is this not a thread to discuss other games we enjoy playing? my post doesn't address -- nor does it claim to address- any of the parade of horribles you're alluding to. Sir Roberts has given us a game that's fun to play, I wasn't trying to turn it into proof of anything else. So.....?

Its just that others are asking you for a source or link to validate that "fun". Which you opt to ignore even tho its such a tiny thing. You are of course under no obligation to provide these things but in the same breath you do like to have sources and links yourself if theres anything you dont believe

like that 20+ ship claim. Discussion is a back and forth. This isnt really the best place to report your diary entries. People tend to ask for evidence if anything seems too good to be true. Ignore it and you will be ignored.

Your own words. You said your side had 20 ships, and you were fighting two other org. So 20+. Considering the ship cap is at 16, I find that odd.

I believe he is asking about the "hard coded ship cap" but yeah I m interpreting his question sorry

you misunderstood, I said "around 20 ships," ... and if I was unclear, that was intended to mean the total number of ships. I certainly never said 20+ ships.

. Ignore it and you will be ignored.

There's really no need for that. I already said that I didn't have video, I certainly wasn't ignoring anyone. Do what you will with that.

As I already said, I never said "20+ ships".

Ok. that does not explain getting around the hard coded ship cap, nor the performance hit when you get above even 12 people near each other.

When I was a kid I worked on a farm, one of my friend's fathers spreaders crapped out. So he asked me and our other friends to come over and shovel. We had music going and drinks, we ended up having a lot of fun. Simple comparison to SC, sure you can have a lot of fun hanging with your friends, this does not change the fact you are shoveling manure.

If we get bogged down on every bit of wild exaggeration instead of regarding it as background noise this thread will burst at the seams and spill lulz all over the internet.

Aye I mean his claims are not really different to all the other fantastic claims found elsewhere. Its just sad that these claims usually have nothing to offer once asked for details. Come to think of it....just like the game itself :D

Anyway @ jmd

there is an honest interest in actual proof of what you describe. People would like to see these things...you know.....anything really that would confirm your claims about an actual funny game. If you could think of a link or source in the future that d be great ^^

Yeah....when I was a kid we used to play"war-games"pew-pew-pew.....and one time we have that huge battle where after an hours of heavy fighting only me and my m8 stay alive but we was surrounded by 30 "german" soldiers and then I said to him....

And we fly away....true story....still keeping this picture just in case if people refuse to believe me....:D

Well decided with the price drop on the Rift that's where I'll spend my refund money. That and probably upgrade my 970 to a 1070. I find it funny that this computer I bought 3 years ago as an off lease workstation for $250 as an "interim" solution for my PC gaming needs is still going strong. Granted I did put $500 into it at the end of 2014 in the form of new PSU, 970, and SSD.

Maybe we could invent some other suitable container - I dunno, a bucket perhaps?

Say it's high fidelity and can have 20+ players at once, and people can sneak onboard it - and we'll be rich!

As long as there's on-board vending machines and shops selling lulz for real cash it's a sure fire winner.

Also, we shouldn't accidentally ruin his efforts. Just consider the possibility that maybe he's a deep-cover saboteur trying to further spread the already-prevalent perception that anything positive that's ever said about SC is inherently untrustworthy and systematically exaggerated. :D

I'm not entirely sure that this perception needs any more help than what CIG and its executives already provide, but you know…
