thou shall have at least twice rebuy when flying new ship.
Only twice? I was stooped once, got caught off guard the second time, good thing I COULD PAY FOR THE THIRD.

Of course not. I just did a quick filter search and looked for the most recent. Furthermore, 1.06 IS 2.1. Literally, minus the Horizons bit.
1: Agility is best for combat. This is only common sense. Heavy-ship killers, like Vultures and FDLs, will naturally have an edge against Anacondas.
2: Except for the Cutter and Corvette, all other big ships are primarily multipurpose (I think the Cutter is mostly multipurpose anyway?)
3: It's a bit silly, but suspending the disbelief I guess.
4: The only time they should appear that close is when they drop out of supercruise. You should make sure you have sensors with enough range.
5: Bugs should be reported. It has nothing to do with game difficulty. Please stop assuming I think I'm the best. My Viper mk4 is hardly god tier.
6: Even polls show that you're a minority.
7: You die sometimes. I die sometimes. If you havent', well, you're a damn good pilot.
8: Know when to hold 'em know when to fold 'em. If you think retreat is cowardice you don't understand warfare.
9: Common sense, no?
10: If you indulge in the combat aspect, prepare to adapt to the combat aspect. I don't see any of my advice having to do with traders or explorers, no?
To Mohrgan:
Compassion isn't a weakness. But saying it is compassionate to pamper is a very fatal misunderstanding of compassionate.
Be compassionate: Empower the player. That doesn't mean weaken the foe. Give them the tools to overcome the foe. Combat hints. Ship specs. Facts about balancing your ship. Experienced pilots to watch in combat to learn their tactics.
That is what 'empowering' the player is: And yes, that's compassionate, and that's what the community that says "please don't nerf the AI" is saying. We're not selfishly wanting to be 'the elite few'. We're wanting to raise the whole community a bar.
And I won't be bullied by a group of hyperbole using, baseless forum posters who desire to dumb-down the game and weaken our community. As you can see.
I want to help people that don't understand why they're being destroyed. That's what all of us protecting the integrity of this game are trying to do.
You're well intentioned, but misguided.
______
I think all of us here can agree, whether we aggressively fought the idea of dumbing down the AI again, or whether we were the ones quietly and politely offering advice (I admit, you've got more self control than me) - we're doing our best to make our community stronger, better, and more welcoming to anyone who wants to learn how to best their opponents.
Remember: There's always a pilot better than you, which means there's always one more rung on the ladder to climb up.![]()
"Elite: Dangerous is a space adventure, trading, and combat simulation video game developed and published by Frontier Developments."
Tell me where Frontier ever said it was sandbox.
I don't think Frontier has ever referred to Elite: Dangerous as a sandbox. The Press, however, is CONSTANTLY referring to it as a sandbox because they fail to understand what the gameplay actually is. Frontier should probably do more to correct this misconception as PC Gamer, Engadget, Gamasutra have all referred to it as one. It is easy to understand why so many players make the same mistake ... especially if they purchased the game based on one of these many reviews.
I wasn't aware of that, but given that gaming has always been never really had great journalism in the first place, it shouldn't surprise me... Thanks Jaiotu.
Frontier isn't killing the game for new players. I have certainly a few recently hooked friends that can attest to that.
it's just as safe to poach kills off police as it was in the old days.
Honestly I don't think it is the new players who are going to have any problems with the new AI. Why? Because they don't have to relearn the game. The days of taking on an Elite rated anaconda solo are over ... unless you are really, really skilled that is. New players are going to figure this out real quick whereas the veterans are scratching their heads wondering why everybody is picking on them and lamenting, 'I used to kill 10 'Elite' NPCs in a row without a scratch! Now I'm constantly running from combat. What happened?'
It's not 'git gud'. Its about learning your limitations and learning when not to engage.
Im doing quite well with #7 at the moment![]()

Yesterday I bought a Friend who Bought the Game in Beta and then Dropped it later on. Back into the Game.
He got Killed about 4 Times before he Decided that the Game is and Stopped Playing again.
No offense.
But this Game is hard to New players and Older Players.
Because lets Face a Fact here.
A New Player in a Sidewinder. Will carry 2 Tons of Cargo from A to B.
He will be Interdicted and he will be Killed.
He will try Combat and be Killed.
He will try a Mission aaaand will be Killed.
That will be about the First Experiences in the Game for new Players Currently.
And Sorry.
But if I want to Play Dark Souls. I play Dark Souls.
Some People are not Interested in Combat at All.
And sorry. But right now this Game is pretty much telling these People Off and Play something else.
Currently this Game is ONLY Welcoming for Competetive Pilots who seek a Challenge and Combat.
Anyone else is pretty Much Scared Away right now.

... It takes about 3-5 seconds to find a star, another 5-10 seconds to align to it, and another what... 10-15 seconds to high wake? Yeah. Good look with that one, buddy.
