Non wiser except there was an outcry from a person trying to rank up doing data delivery mission again, which then received tip-offs when he ran these.
Same thing which happened for me.

Guess Ill head over to Sol and Sirius and do some data missions, any idea if there are other systems with tones of those types of missions?

Fellow CMDRs, I don´t know if this is a coincidence but I am being spammed with tip offs right now.
I am doing the Wu Guinagi / HIP 10716 mission ping pong and I stack up to 20 missions but just yesterday I got 5 or 6 tip offs in one 2 hour session.

Serious question: do you stil collect these tip offs? I would write them down then ... but I´d leave them to other to investigate.

My overall feeling is that some serious things are going to happen and I find FD is bringing in some good tension to this [up]

Guess Ill head over to Sol and Sirius and do some data missions, any idea if there are other systems with tones of those types of missions?

Cheers. See above quote, which is the only one I know of right now.

It's valuable knowledge, what we try to learn:
- Any new direct hints in the DATA CORE message?
- Does (data core) messages change? If so, why? What does it mean?
- whether there is a re-cycling process of these messages? Perhaps over time we will see the same (data core) messages distributed to new sites? Over time will we have received all the types available?
- Anyone stumble upon Alien-wreckage anywhere? We won't know unless the OWNER of the KEY goes there, the trigger may be related to a owner of a tip-off message.

-> I was very active destroying ships lately in war zones, resource Zone and nav Points and i am alied with several minor faction in the Systems I was active might have to do with that.
.
rocky did you find something of value there except that msg?
.
I am really sry to say but just for a msg I don't fell to bother to go there. I already wasted hours 1 or 2 day ago with successless UP hunts and in the meantime my Systems suffered real bad. (playing bgs) Not going to happen again.

Yeah, mine was Acan B 4 as well. Nasty         to get to. Also, the dipwad who claimed there was a "treasure trove of cargo racks" needs to be shoved out an airlock.

It's a safe assumption that some of the known sites won't suddenly turn into a alien wreck. FD would be out of their mind if they made it behave like that.
So it's still safe(r) to ignore well known sites.

New sites though - pleeease go check them out. Pretty please. :)

I think the persistent sites have changed as of last night. That would explain two people getting the Acan one with the same message as a previous site.

Whatever they are, Tip Offs are a nice distraction from rank building.
I do belive I have deleted a few of them before - not realy thinking it was important. But doing them now - will check in on this thread to see if anything has changed or if I get a new one.

Well, I'm back again. Now I found something interesting. Again those lights..

1 thing i forgot to mention. It could be coincidence or something was wrong with my eyes BUT right before entering the Glide mode on the same planet I saw a strange NPC dot on my radar (minimap). It was not Orange, Green, Red or White, however it was Blue. I say again, that may be coincidence, bug or simply my mistake, but I believe I saw it.

Well I tried the Wu Guinagi / HIP 10716 run, so far, nothing, I'll keep trying again tonight though. Crashed alien ships are going to be the key to the next step with the UPs I'm sure of it.

I got this tip off for Acan after doin some data deliverys with Elite requirement.

I went to the location but im unable to find the crashed ship that needs to be scanned. I only found cargo canisters, occupied escape pod and pirates so far.

Hello everyone. I have finished grinding all rank in federation and empire and so i will now stop doing mass deliveries. This is going to be a pretty long post.

But here it is, the science behind tip-offs:

All in all i have done something around 3000 missions since 2.1 released.
- Around 500 missions all across the bubble directly after 2.1 release in an effort to figure out mission rewards for materials. This is pretty straightforward. The rank of the mission determines which grade of material you are going to get. But this is irrelevant information for this thread. What is relevant is that i received 0 tip offs from doing this. Most missions were done for factions that would jump on cordial after completing the mission. So none of the factions i worked for were on friendly/allied status.
- Around 200 missions in Sothis afterwards got me a solid 9 tip offs. It was ghastly how quickly they accumulated here.
- Around 1500 missions blowing through empire ranks in Shu Bubassi. I have got exactly 1 tip off from doing this.
- Went back to Sothis and got another 9 tip offs over 800 missions.

Things that were done
- I have never got a tip off from a faction i'm not allied with.
- I have done tons of missions for a faction that i'm allied with and only got one tip out of it. (Shu Bubassi)
- I have done tons of elite rank missions and only got one tip out of it. (Shu Bubassi)
- The rate of tips acquired exploded when i work at Sothis, where i'm allied with all factions.
- Doing missions for only specific factions, like Federation Unite! gave me tips, but the same is true for other independent factions. So the high rate is not unique to just one faction in Sothis.
- If transport, source, combat zone and mining missions give tip offs, i simply didn't luck out to get one from it.
I have done way too few assassinations, liberations and acquisitions to make any guesses.

So what gives? The only consistent thing here is that you need to be at Sothis to get tip offs fast.
It is a mystery.

Now on to the tip-offs themselves
- It appears that there is a limited amount of new tip-offs released each week, at server maintenance on thursday.
- Tips will fade out over time. At some point the wreck is gone forever and you lost your chance to see it and its message.
- The package value is completely random for every player that scans it. Values from 100k up to 2m have been seen.
- Tips appear to draw their contents from a randomized table.

Messages
I already wrote this down in the spreadsheet, so i'm just going to use a screen of it here.

The exception
Up to a certain point it appeared that the Flair text and the wreck messages were unlinked. It was until 3 days ago that CMDR WarLord101 found the Pardal tip off wreck. This is truly exceptional as the context from both the flair and the wreck message heavily imply ties. Here is are the messages.

Poor souls, heading out into the void looking for new worlds and all that. Looks like they didn't get that far. Can you scan the site for us? We'll see you're rewarded.
Mayday! This is exploration team NANJ-XIIMC. Systems shutting down. Planetary impact imminent. All 6 crew ejected. Transponders in place so hopefully someone will pick us up. Mayday!

Other cool stuff
Apart from the Pardal wreck. There are other nice finds. If you wish to check out these places, visit this spreadsheet for all the information. It is the same sheet that Panzertard linked in the OP.
- The infamous Kuru wreck, with the crashing problem
- The ghost ship wreck in Omega-1 Aquarii on the planet with 2.25G, we get a date
Commanders Log: August 10th 3300
This is very cool and could lead to something interesting.
- I discovered a new tip off yesterday in Bakawa. It was a normal sidewinder wreck with a data core. Upon checking the wave scanner however, i found another signal. After only a bit of driving i find a DBE wreck with another data core. Two data cores. This is unheard of. Possibility: It is another tip off that can be handed out right now and this is the wreck for it. I heard that sometimes you can find other wrecks nearby. It is possible that wrecks are randomly placed somewhere near the co-ordinates and those co-ordinates will still be used for other tip-off spawns, further reinforcing the notion that tip-offs are randomly generated using premade texts and locations.

Edit:
How could i forget! Of course we have the alien related wreck messages.

Oh my gods....It can't be....These things are a myth...........That noise.........
...What the hell was that!.... hit from behind....systems disabled.....oh god it's killed us....I can't pull up....brace, brace, brace.
...We've got to report this... they ripped us out of...nothing works....what do they want from us...That noise...help us...
Commanders Log:

I think I'm finally losing it or maybe its just all the explosions and laser fire from the crash burnt into my eyes. But could swear those lights were real.

I don't think they're hostile, but there does seem to be some kind of intelligence to their movements.
Mayday! I repeat, Mayday! Under attack from unknown hostile force. All attempts to communicate have failed. We're going down. Mayday!
Commanders Log:

The hunger is starting to get to me, I've started seeing things. I know the deep space explorers like to tell stories, but these light shows are something else.
They almost seem alive.

Teryd, you beautiful, beautiful man. I could kiss you. I'm heading over to sothis now, we'll see if being in an opposing power play effects it even if I'm still allied with the factions.

Much appreciated! I'll get the highlights for the OP so we can guide others in the right direction hunting down more Tips and some day ... Thaaargoids :D

To all, don't forget +1 for Teryd if you like it :)

Next time simple logoff and login again at the second ship. My (also DBS) then was gone but the TipOff wreck was there ....

About the "spawn rate": Thesis: depends more at the value of the missions? Can you make a statement from your memory? Sothis long runs or Sothis/Ceos all the time?
Thanks for your contribution!

And a big thank you, SirOleg. Another mysterious message \o/
Invasion can't be far away now. Hehe, perhaps V3 or v4? Who knows.
I've linked up your things (pun intended). Teryd also updated his spreadsheet.
Cheers

Thanks for reporting back to us CoolAndi. :)
I think it's safe to allow Acan to rest in peace now, it's been visited.

I found a crashed Diamondback inside the bubble. I was unable to scan the data core as it was encrypted. Would that be related to a possible tip off location and useful to you guys?

Not as much no. Please see OP front page for what we are looking for :)

Until lately, I haven't run a ton of missions but am allied with Federation Unite! (recently) .My trade rank is only broker so I can't get elite data delivery missions, should I still be able to receive tip offs?
