Not that kind of OP (engineering), the other kind (godmodeships) which can only be attained with hacks and trainers. I had a friend tell me this stuff was going on recently, then I looked into it and it turns out that not only are they are absolutely right, but it was also a problem in 2017 and unfortunately now it's back. So if anyone encounters oddities that seem impossible, best to take video and report. It's the only way we are going to ban these cheaters, at least temporarily until they start another account.

I don't think anyone has said hacks don't exist to make ships OP. I remember the guy rollin' in an Anaconda that was faster than a FDL and would vaporize you in moments.

It's just skepticism you're seeing here. It's OK.

Which is why we need video. It doesn't answer all questions either but it's a lot better than having nothing at all, and it gives Frontier a place to start looking. Without it, it's just a baseless accusation.

FWIW, I can't help remembering that the spate of genuine hacking we had, a while back, seemed to target PvPers - as if somebody had got really sick of getting exploded.

Wonder whatever happened to whoever that was?

Sorry OP, what you've seen here is an already manouverable ship that probably been fully engineered. In the hands of a skilled pilot with flight assist off you've got a ship that can fly sideways while melting an e rated Anaconda in less than 10 seconds.

Might I suggest that you'll have more fun flying a similarly valued Python or Krait mk2, than the oversized lump you're currently in. 15 million for a single rebuy would be more like the sort of Anaconda you want in open.

Well it's not like I'm a video enthusiast, with the saturated media age we live in nowadays, but you can usually find hacking videos on the same site you download them... You can also set parameters to not be pointed as blatant haxxor too, so video is not like hard evidence anymore.

More like mildly flaccid evidence I guess.

I'll give the OP benefit of the doubt instead of assuming right away he's a noob. He said 1200 hours. It's possible someone is using a script to grief folks there, but as others have said FDev cannot do anything about it without evidence. Best is to get a video of it. Then you'll win hearts and minds.

OP has probably been killed a few times in Open and scripting is a thing. Doesn't mean anyone was doing it, but all the nay sayers seem a bit naive to the prospect. If OP said he just started playing last week and his anaconda was destroyed by someone who was cheating because they did something only an engineered FA/off ship could do, that's one thing. Making a true 90 degree turn isn't possible short of hitting a wall first. A fully engineered A rated king daddy Anaconda wouldn't have survived if someone was scripting, and the rebuy would have been a lot more.

I wonder if this would be a good time for me to start PsyHacking, using my insidious powers of mind-control to make people do things like Bank Left when they mean to Bank Right, or lower their landing gear just before they try to boost away....

It's certainly possible that some kind of cheating was going on, but realistically I'd fancy my chances against a 7.5 mil rebuy Anaconda, so the OP flying this in a ganking hotspot in open suggests some kind of inexperience. There is a possible question about how much the OP knows about how an FDL flies.

The main problem we have is that it is very difficult to discern if it was cheating or not given that any gank would have resulted in the OPs ship being destroyed.

True, but OP didn't complain about being killed, but about how the other player was moving and shooting. Could be skip-lag. A video would be nice.
