Hardware & Technical Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS official thread

Unrelated, what do you have the click on the mini-stick set to? Just curious if I could set that to toggle landing gear.

I just discovered the perfect (for me) function for the analogue stick 'button'. I now use it for drive assist in the SRV, as that cannot interfere when using the stick for thrusters in the ship. :)

BTW, I found the Custom binds file, and it was called "Custom.1.8.binds". The reason I'd searched for it fruitlessly before is that for some weird reason there's also a Frontier_Developments folder alongside the one without an underscore character. Don't know what purpose it serves but it doesn't have the \Options folder.

Does anyone know what the 1.8 part refers to? Is it a reference to the number of major patches since release for the game, or to the particular preset for this HOTAS?

1.8 part is a version number for t he file, i expect that to change when the format changes. It is also in the file itself as: "<Root PresetName="Custom" MajorVersion="1" MinorVersion="8">"

Wanting to know the best way to make sure the throttle stays in place. Would I need to bolt/screw it to my desk, or could a couple of rubber feet keep it from sliding? Also was wondering about the over all quality compared to the X52. I am on the verge of upgrading from the cheap (but very reliable, and still working perfectly after a years worth Eliting) Thrustmaster T.Flight X.

Why not just use the same button for FA?

Whilst we're talking about it it's worth pointing out that if you want to rename the file you also must change the preset name within the file.

the throttle and the stick on the thrustmaster t.1000m.fcs hotas both have m6 threaded holes underneath which can be used to bolt them down, easy way to get the holes correct is to hold a piece of paper on the bottom and rub a pencil over the holes to get an impression and transfer to the place where you want to bolt to, or you could use blue tack or double sided tape but not sure how that would hold up in a dog fight.

If you want to save the custom 1.8 file under a different file name, copy and paste to desktop, rename file and then edit that file in notebook and where it has <Root PresetName="Custom" MajorVersion="1" MinorVersion="8"> change the custom to what ever you named the file too and then save and copy, and paste back into \c:\username\AppData\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings directory
it should then show up in the options in game you can then edit file in game and it will save like normal, once you have it the way you want just save it somewhere safe in case of issues later on.

Also wondering about using the T.Flight Rudder Pedals in combination with the T.16000m. Basicly is it worth it?

I assume you mean the TWCS rudder pedals. They plug into the throttle and are recognized as a part of the throttle. There are 3 axes on them and they are recognized in the Windows game controller software under TWCS Throttle as X-Rotation, Y-Rotation (toe brake on the pedals), and Slider (pivoting them where one moves forward and the other moves back).

German DHL have imagined a new way to drive away customers: so far, Amazon.de is usually using "DHL express" for prime deliveries, which was fine until several weeks ago. At that time, DHL express stopped dropping off their deliveries at the local Post office. Your choice: either be at home when the delivery comes, or fetch it from their special depot.

You're lucky. In the UK we have Amazon Logistics, and if I'm not in they leave it in the bin. Not even joking.

Blu Tack works great for me. It's holding the throttle and the joystick in place just fine.
If anybody's following any of my recent posts they'll probably think I'm a Blu-Tack salesman :D

Why not just use the same button for FA?

That's what I'm using it for. Gone back to the mouse for headlook (at least until I've ordered my Rift).

Why not just use the same button for FA?

Good point, and no reason really. I use the two way 'switch' next to the analogue switch for FA/OFF, so could quite easily use it for drive assist too, but since I have the extra button, I thought I'd use it. And while it makes little difference, I use FA/OFF as hold down and drive assist is toggled, so the button works nicely.

It's very easy with the M6 bolting, i drilled only one wrong hole :)
But you don't notice.

I think I posted this picture before...

If you look at these pictures you can imagine what I did with the chair.

Rep for the Chair. I capitalized chair because it's now a title.

Has anyone played with just the new flight stick? How does it compare to the old one? I know they're almost exactly the same but is there any quality difference? Also, if anyone has gone from using just the old stick to buying the throttle too, I'd really like to know if you feel like it added much to the experience. I'm on the fence about spending a little over twice as much for the entire HOTAS.

Has anyone figured out what the "V axis" is, BTW? By default it's set to control sensor range. I thought it was the wheel on the outside end of the throttle, but that's the U-axis, as is the throttle control on the stick, so I'm rather mystified as to which analog axis I'm missing.

There is no V axis, FD made a typo. Bug filed. Pretty sure they meant to use the U axis for the scanner range.

Tobii EyeX and T.16000M FCS problem

Hi all,

got my FCS today, and am currently flying around with it, trying to find a nice bindings set for me.

But: I encountered one problem which I _think_ read about in passing but can't find it any more: Since I plugged in (and played around with the bindings) for the HOTAS, my Tobii EyeX doesn't work any more. I.e., the EyeX itself works fine - it just doesn't control the headlook in ED any more.

Anybody got an idea about what I need to do to get that working agaion?

Ah, thanks for that. I was completely mystified.

BTW, I ended up setting the mini-stick button on the throttle to toggle the landing gear after all, since it requires enough force to push that I very much doubt I'll be activating it unintentionally.

The only thing I can suggest is to make sure head look mode is off in the game's controls. Perhaps you have something set in there that is overriding the EyeX?
