Titan Rewards Update

Greetings Commanders!

After a monumentally coordinated and dedicated offensive from Commanders all across the Milky Way, the Thargoid Titan Taranis was critically damaged to the point it could no longer maintain its systems, causing it to enter meltdown and beautifully explode into a blooming cloud of deadly caustic remains. So many pilots came together to undertake this colossal mission and no doubt the Thargoids of the other Titans are quaking in their chitinous booties. As you wait for the caustic cloud to dissipate so we can take a gander at what fresh juicy goodies lurk within, 7 Titans still remain a threat. Titan Leigong is humanity's probable next target, but it still needs a bit of weakening by reducing the number of systems it controls

Now that the fireworks have come to an end, we wanted to talk about that thing we know you are all excited to know more about...the rewards!

As the destruction of Taranis was such a major occasion and we know that some people couldn't contribute to the war effort as much as they would like due to some pesky (non-alien) bugs we are going to handle the rewards a little differently for this specific event. To celebrate the destruction of Taranis we will be giving the rewards to everyone who traveled to the system any time between the release of Update 18 through to the time until Taranis exploded. This way we can ensure that even if a pilot was affected by one of the issues which might have invalidated their contributions, they will receive the reward. These rewards of a ship kit and decal will be going live some time this Thursday.

This is a ONE OFF for the rewards though. In order to receive rewards from future Titan destruction you will need to have taken part by damaging the heat core. *

For every Titan you are involved in defeating, you will receive an incrementally more prestigious ship kit with matching paintjob for different ships, and will receive an incrementing decal.

The first ship kit that pilots will receive on Thursday is the Alliance Chieftain bleached bone:

And the first decal you will receive is:

They will be added to your accounts on Thursday so keep an eye on our news channels for updates!

Thank you again to everyone who got involved in showing the angry crustaceans of doom that humanity wasn't going to sit there and let them attack our worlds. We look forward to watching you squash the next one!

* Updated Clarification
To be eligible for the incremental Titan rewards you will need to do the following:

1) Have done damage to the heat core of a Titan within one week prior to it going into meltdown.
2) You need to have earned a minimum of 2M credits from hitting the core (You earn less credits from the Titan when they still need weakening and have a high damage resistance)

Don't forget you also receive Arx from taking down hearts and gain more if you are a top contributor.

Nice. I think you are missing a trick though. We all noticed the fleet carrier servers struggling with the demand and Inara showed around 9,500 peeps in the system that day so you should just casually mention just how many commanders were involved. I'd love to know and I suspect it was quite a few.
I would love to know also, as I am not on Inara
ARGHHHHH!

(Paul is Achilles in this scenario by the way in case it's not clear)

I just spent the last two days tagging all the Titan's dude!
As I see this, you would have to earn 2M at each and then tag each one again in the week before its meltdown.

And OC the problem with that is, if its 'expected' to go down by Friday (where is the calculations for that, huh?) and you, say, Tag it the Monday before, if it then lasts past next Sunday, due to player numbers slowdown or due to players tagging it then leaving and doing something else like another Titan elsewhere, you will have to tag it again!

the Thargoids are locked into the role of designated baddie
While also actually not really being the bad guys. Last I heard, they didn't go and try to genocide us twice. So you could say Elite is portraying both sides of the conflict to be... kind of awful.
You've been listening to too much Lave Radio!
Well, the Titans are probably going to need a breakdown recovery service after meeting too many torpedoes with unknown totally safe nanomachines that can in no way be turned against humans.

I like the requirements for getting the rewards. It encourages active participation and community involvement rather than just reward "snatching".

It could also mean that with more concerted effort by everyone interested in this activity to get these Titans down quickly might mean we get the Python MkII sooner. 🤔

While I definitely agreed that there has to be requirements, I'm doubting about the numbers. In my opinion it would work better if increase damage requirement, but extend time limits. Let's say 50 million within 4 weeks, or something like that.
But probably it's too late for changes anyway

Hey, can anyone clarify if the 2 million worth of damage counts only when done only the last week before the explosion or anytime before the explosion? I am working on the 2nd Titan, and I have done more than 2 million for sure, so if I stop now, will I still get the ship kit and decal??

50 million sounds like too much; you only get around 700,000–900,000 right now per run with titan resistance at an extremely high level. If they really mean only the last week counts, then I think it's better because, after talking back to all the systems under Titan Control, their damage distance will be gone, which means we will get more money in the last week too, so it's easy to reach 2 million in 1 week and 50 million in 4 weeks.

Well, most enjoyable game play last week for about a year, and then, most enjoyable forum post in years, AWESOME.

I found out most of ship build myself from previous visits to Titan to get Caustic Sink, then refined with help of forum Q&A's.
I may do Invasions again now, as I can see the next few Titans taking a very long time to get down to 1 week (Extremely High ones first and then Maximum ones last).
Well, that and revisiting Leigong to help out, as at least I don't get rebuy screen now, knowing how to run or logoff to get out of the Titan without Caustic damage.

Sorry for another question, but are requirements 1 and 2 connected? So I have to do "2 million" worth of damage in the last week before Titan blows up anything before last week won't count. Or If the two requirements are not connected, I can do "2 million" worth of damage at any time, and even a little bit of damage in the last week before Titan blows up will make me eligible for the rewards. Again, sorry for the stupid question. I just want to make sure I don't miss it by mistake.

I genuinely (Not sarcasm) appreciate that some of you look at the entire bloody history of humanity vs the Thargoids and say:

"If not friend, why friend shaped?"

Never change Commanders. You make that Thargoid hug you whether it likes it or not.
I would only hug one if it liked.

Although I'm not sure mandibles and... whatever they have for arms makes for good hugging material. Not just because you might end up a head shorter if they're not interested.

(And some of us have actual standards. Unlike Azimuth.)
