i just checked the xbox forum history, there are a few moan threads there too.
where you really want to be is in the private backer forums. its a higher class of player there, we have cigars, glasses of port, a great selection of cheeses and a very special handshake

It was the sniping on the kinds of people you thought you "tend" to find in Dangerous Discussions.

Catch: I am just as guilty when it comes to lambasting the "old guard", or the original Elite players.
Maybe someday, when I can nail down a job and get my visa for work in Scotland, we can meet up at one of these Elite events (All you old guard types) and share a pint.

Didn't read through all the thread here... Just wanted to say, that there are lots of nice players out there. I can't stand the teenager-rage on the forums as well, and since the best way to bury those threads, is not to feed the trolls, I don't post there.

My only issue with this, and many other forums, is the problem of those who believe, as veteran players, that they are always right, and if anyone either posts a new thread that is against their own sense of perfection, or if someone disagrees with them during an existing thread, the replies can be very nasty, or more likely, passive aggressive, which is not something a forum mod generally gets involved with.
I have been here since beta, and while my post count isn't high, nor my forum rank impressive, my opinions and ideas are just as valid as those with Elite status. The same goes for everyone else (who isn't obviously trolling - which isn't disagreeing).
I just don't understand why people cannot just discuss, without belittling those who disagree. I've seen many conversations here that are great examples of how we can debate without degrading into something like the US election debates.

Unfortunately, when that's the only education some people take in, it does not take much to replicate down to something as simple as a pixel in a different place. Politicians really need to take responsibility for their examples...
To be completely honest, I don't drink beer/ale/etc. Never developed the taste for it, though as an American, I've been led to believe that you UK types quite enjoy a pint or two when the time calls for it.
Maybe a glass of good whiskey for me instead.

have you seen the size of Michael Brookes's axe tho.... I would not dare step out of line knowing he has that.
Forums are a collecting pool for lots of angry people wanting their opinion heard - and just like any other social environment, to be accepted. You'll find bandwagons galore here. Somebody posts something which happens to mention not having insurance and a load of bored people descend on that bit and berate somebody whilst completely missing the point of the post.
Unfortunately it's very tricky to get "into" E without spending a lot of time reading through non-game things (forums, reddit etc). I come here to find out progress on mysteries; find out if the servers are down for other people; but mostly as a five minute distraction from my mind melting IRL.

it is posts like this which tends to get my back up at least..... I have no issue with discussing mechanics we disagree with, but then someone comes in throwing some pretty nasty insults around, and that tends to be when some of us take the bait.
