Newcomer / Intro Tracking Speed for Weapons?

Hmm, yea. I also only thought about gimbals. Turrets are so much absent on my ships that i didn't even think of those. For gimbals i am quite sure that they all track at the same speed. At least their pointers on the HUD move at the same speed when different sizes of weapons are mounted.
.
Still yea, the question included turrets, good find there. :)

Personally I find a gimballed beam works wonders as you can sweep it across them and not have to worry about the nimble little gits dashing past inbetween bursts, and a huge can practically one-shot most SLFs.

I've noticed class 4 weapons have a longer wind up time to start firing but otherwise track the same as other weapons.
On huge auto cannons I don't have much success shooting small stuff due to the slow fire rate and projectile speed.

do you have any evidence of this?

Turret tracking speed is heavily influenced by weapons size and this is as easy to verify as mounting turrets on a ship with good rotationals, targeting a fixed objected, firing, and then seeing how much rotation you need to get ahead of the turret, or how much time the turret needs to start to fire when a firing solution first becomes possible and the turret starts to move.
