Trading for Influence II (FC Update)

Bought overpriced 190 tons of goods from my fleet carrier and sold them in a system no one had visited in a long time. The loss amounted to 1500cr per ton. The demand icon was green. The population of the system is 3000 people. The influence of the controlling faction has increased by three percent.

a) what did in station news traffic report say?
b) horizon or odyssey?

Next try

This time I sold 190 items at a loss without using an fleet carrier. The loss amounted to 650 cr per ton. The demand icon was completely missing. The influence of the faction decreased by 0.4 percent. There hasn't been a single ship in the system in the last 24 hours except mine.

Today I will try to sell a product with a loss and a red demand icon.

Reported ships rarely do any influence. You can safely ignore that DE. Especially because this is not trading or military ship. BGS players don't use this bad ship. Just accidental visitor on the way.

thanks for pointing out i'm no BGS player.

Calliope - my bubble cmdrs runaround. capable to win a high CZ just so, getting bounties whether for BGS or a CG, or travelling between spots.

that jumprange on a combat capable ship! straightline speed is great, and putting corrosive on the large MC means all ammo will be spent the same moment.

  • No bountyhunting DBE was harmed in this process.

two days ago using it to run missions summing 11+, getting and redeeming 5 mio bounties... a raw influence gain of roughly 20 points.

if you want to TEST mechanics you really do not want to have any traffic, until you have a grasp of the mechanics (at which point you might be able to guesstimate whether some traffic had any effect or not).

discarding any shiptypes isn't clever - even if they can't dock they could for exampel attack settlements. and you never know whether they bring bounties, exploration data... i mean, if a faction has as a bounty source only a high res available, i will sometimes use my "combat" sidewinder.

in context of this thread i will only say that for the tonnage sigma you can discard a lot of ships for their total cargo if you only look at trade, but not for all other kind of potential random influence gains and losses, which might spoil your tests. shiptype is irrelevant. there are people running railgun belugas in CZs.

Lol wut? All ships that pass thru a system could of potentially did a mission or dropped off cargo or sold Carto Data etc. I do BGS everyday and the DBX is one of my main ships for Odyssey Settlement raids & system checks.

I re-tested the second row from the table. This time there was no traffic, the results did not change.

Looking at this data, I can assume that with a green icon, influence will increase regardless of profit.
would be very interesting whether there is an additional effect of more profit.
340 cptp (credit per ton profit) isn't "regardless", but was already 50% of the old profit sigma max. so 190t at ~2000 cptp in the green might be more effective?

anyway, great testing!

The last five days have been testing with goods that are not listed in the station market

It seems that now it does not matter how many types of goods we will sell from one delivery

So what you saying is the old 150 tons per multiple goods is no longer a factor and in fact it's better to just go by the demand so if the demand is 10000+ tons just load the entire Cutter with that one good?

interesting reading. but limited use as the two 'non-uniform' results completely throw and logic out the window.( row 8 and 15) had a couple of updates since, so it will probably all have changed now ?

i know of no current testing. there is also the possibility of different behavings between horizon and odyssey.

i personally won't run tests as long as odyssey/horizons are split in the way they are (differently to how base game and horizon interact), and as long as the tick takes sometimes hours to be fully calculated (as that reduces the hours where you can safely assume actions count for next tick).

but as always i'll be happy to read other players tests!

I believe once the tick starts it locks in the entire galaxy so anything that is done after is for the next tick even tho it takes around 4 hours for everything to calculate. This makes the most sense because if it went by until when X system shows in game as ticked it would be stupidly sloppy.
Now from my time being anal with checking BGS all of my faction's system's states tick usually right at the beginning of the tick. Then the influence is whenever. Could be from 2-4 hours after the state tick. Now this is why I strongly believe once the tick starts anything done after is for the next day's tick.
