TYPE-10 DEFENDER, a ship with the potential to act differently in combat.

This is a well thought out approach to making the T-10 the legitimate member of the big league that it should have been out of the box. Can we also add a little buff to its manoeuvrability in both supercruise and normal space while we are at it?

I like it's ponderous feel. It is also nice in FA OFF situations, when combined with it's nice thruser usage it will spin beautifully on the spot. Very easy to face most enemies, if you need to.

I think the only buff it should get is one more class 7 internal and 2 more utility slots. 10 utilities would make it pretty unique and could be used for 2 more HD shield boosters if desired. Or more point defense. The additional size 7 allows the T9 to still haul more but puts the T10 well above the conda and comparable to a Corvette for cargo. Leave the rest alone and i think it provides a solid alternative in the armed trader/multi role department.
 
The T10 deserves better. Doesn't need to be better than the big 3, just different. Shouldn't be worse than them for sure! Larger distro and fix the hardpoint placements and bigger thrusters. No reason a ship this size should have class 7 distro and thruster. It's an island masquerading as a space ship FGS.
 
I don’t think they should really mess with the hard point placement as then you’re just making it like the big 3 and altering it from its original identity. It also doesn’t have the maneuverability to make full use of that. Plus fromtier is unlikely to go through the effort required to do that as then they’d have to edit the model itself alongside all its skins and ship kits for a change that more accommodates people who’d rather use an anaconda or corvette. Aside from giving it a bigger distributor for more breathing room, upping the armor hardness, and perhaps giving it better thrusters there isn’t much they can do for the type 10 itself without destroying its persona or inadvertently nerfing it.

A lot of what would help the type 10 are changes to the game balance itself such as a much needed rework to hull and armor hardness mechanics. Turrets, namely ballistic ones due to poor accuracy one top of limited ammo, could also do with a rework. Laser turrets aren’t in that bad of a spot imo since they don’t do that much less than gimbaled and offer great savings in energy usage. Beam version could do with better accuracy though as they’re pretty bad.
