. . . if you're not going to use the damn list then get rid of it entirely. Thank you, OP, thank you so much for making me jump the gun and look like a damn fool.

Well, in our defence, it does say

the list is no longer updated

------

Oh, I am going to start using my CMDR name as opposed to my forum username from now on for records.

I've updated your name in all your records.

Take it easy good sir, nobody is considering you a fool. People are posting their new finds here by the hour and more than often somebody has already beaten their record :)

I saw what looked like a banner and I saw that list. You're right, it's largely my own fault for not reading the entire post. I am, indeed, a certified moron. I apologize. But seriously, why is that list even there anyway? It looks like you guys have all of the records and more in that Google doc . . .

I at least appreciate that you didn't call me an idiot even though you'd be well in your right to do so. :p. Anyway, now that I've made my apology and self-impaled myself in shame, I think I'm just going to back out of the thread and pretend I was never here.

Nah, I think it would be much better if you joined the competition - it makes exploring all the more interesting :)

Here's one record candidate - please tell me if you need screenshots of the individual stars as well:

SYSTEM WITH THE MOST M-TYPE STARS
NGC 6231 SECTOR NI-T D3-63 WITH 5 M-CLASS STARS

the only other I know of is mercury, it has 60%, will add a new category for this

sweet :)

probaably would make sense to add high metal content planet with highest metal content too. would reveal where FD put down the line between the two :)

would you be interested in AeBe Hervig with 16 bodies? or is so few not worth the hassle?

old record:

LIGHTEST CLASS II GAS GIANT

HIP 63422 10 WITH 4.9693 EARTH MASSES

New record:

LIGHTEST CLASS II GAS GIANT
SWOIWNS WF-W D2-7 3WITH 4.5046 EARTH MASSES

This should get beaten fairly quickly, I hope (considering that these rings are quite average. not really extra very small...) but at least we can replace EMPTY RECORD with some number :p

ANYWAY:

IMAGE LINK

LIGHTEST SINGLE RING
DROJAEA UI-T C6-8 8 A RING WITH MASS OF 199,837,040 MT

Finder Kalpa or CMDR Kalpa, whichever do you prefer for the book?

ps. The rings also look kinda funny, don't you think?

There is also DAB, DAV, DBV and DCV...
They are just subtypes, eg. those with V are pulsating white dwarfs. Unless we have other subtypes eg. subdwarfs, dwarfs, subgiants, giants, supergiants and hypergiants I don't think there is a need to have them, too.

Edit: Actually, thinking of it, perhaps we should have all those subtypes implemented in a similar way as a terraformable is going to be a subtype of types of planets (if I understand it correctly what Patau has in mind).

Heh, I would've probably been here earlier with one of my previous trips, but I thought the record bookkeeping was closed (as in the old thread said 'no longer updated'), and it never really occurred to me to click the big book image until a few days ago. :)

Currently heading towards Sagittarius A*, will see about filling up all those 'closest to sagittarius A*' record slots when I get there. ;)
