Engineers unknown fragment for Palin

Ok i just began my unknown fragment hunt... i chose the uss path, because i'm really fed with ground things...

I have 1 for now, i wonder how much time it will require me to turn around a star like an idiot to get the 24 left...

Guys, just go to the crashed Anaconda wich spawns UA on relog and do this in about an hour of gameplay...
Here the Location: Izanami A 4 A (-2.2541, 145.1307)

Cheers!

Hi,
I spend more than an hour yesterday running in an SRV back and forth around those coordinates but I never found the wrecked Anaconda. Is there something I need to do first? Or is it just removed from the A4A ??

Maybe they hoped that, for once, players wouldn't be seeking "instant gratification"-the primary motive behind the very grinding that grinders claim to hate so much.

I've been playing Elite for around 9 months. I never bothered to look for them and have seen a grand total of 1 UA.
Grinding is the only way to unlock Palin.

It's still there.
Sometimes it takes a while until it loads. If you found the UA. Destroy it and collect the fragments. Go to your ship fly upwards up to 2km and then log out. Log back in and land. If you just log out in your SRV the UA and the anaconda start to fall through the planet surface.

Please define "a while". I drove around more than an hour.....

Plan a route 130-150 ly from merope, pack a ADS and DSS and go exploring while keeping an eye out for USS and farm your UA. Somewhat similar to an exploration run. Palin is an explorer engineer afterall and the benefits of corrosive resistant cargo racks + grade 5 thrusters should not be easily accessible.

Understandable that some don't like the work/time aspect needed, i for one like it and feel it's in the spirit of doing something exploration-ish. Even though it could have been implemented with more alternatives - like the aforementioned "bring me 3 intact UA at the same time" or similar.
Still, i can't shake the feeling like most that complain - (and now look to farm a single source by logging in/out) rather have an easy mode option? The universal "pay me some $" bore? Just wondering. Where's the sense of accomplishment in that then?

I had in mind that exploration data was needed for palin, so I have gathered more than 3m theese past weeks while trying to unlock the other engineers.
Last night I traveled in to midle of nowhere to search for anomalies. I found 1 (two fragments) after almost two hours! I cannot spend 24 hours of gameplay waiting for Uss to appear...
... So I started looking for alternatives and ended up on this thread.

Hip 14479 go 500 ls away from sun then head back take your time. Wait for a lvl 4 uss threat and shoot ua. Have fun. I been taking them to a starport. Hope it knocks them out...

Fair enough, if that was really down to rng i think i would have lost motivation too. But are you sure you have been flying in a circle/shell of systems 130-150ly around Merope? I just planned my nav. points in a sphere around it and spent up to 20 minutes in a system because it took about 20minutes on average for the anomalies to spawn. Also, i was just genuinely curios and hopefully wasn't coming over as condescending. If it 'feels' like a grind to you that's all that matters.

So , do I need to travel 500ls away from the main star and then wait 20 minutes for an anomaly to spown? Then what, do I wait more for another, or just travel to another system and wait another 20 minutes?

I started from the Hip system mentioned above.... I am not sure I waited 20 full minutes. I DDS scanned all planets and left to the next system...

I can confirm that the anaconda is infact NOT still there and has been removed. looks like anet wants us to do things the hard way. no ammount orf relogging land or air will make the anaconda appear. its just straight up gone.

3 hours searching for Anomalies.... 4 found, 2x2 +2x1, 6 total fragments. One Anomaly lost because I was interdicted by a Cobra....Cant tell you how furious that made me....

By the way, the searching while exploring does not work. I usually scan the main sun, go to the system panel, decide if there are DDS worthy planets, scan them and leave. That way it takes around 5-10 minutes to jump to another system and not once an anomaly appeared in this time.

I had to DDS all stones and rocks in a system for an anomaly to appear. Then wasting time doing nothing was the way to get lucky! I had 3 anomalies in just over an hour in a single system at distances from 200ls to 73k ls.....

Nommater how you like playing this is the definition of grinding....

I didn't wait in any system for an sss to spawn but rather jump as soon as every 'worthy' object is scanned. Which includes everything but ice or bare planets. Usually 10 minutes at least, 20mins tops. ALL my fragments found in that time frame. The 'most likely zone' is around 1k+ls, btw. I did explore in a 150ly sphere around merope and got maybe a quarter of it done - but here's the thing, i went on an exploration trip and did not primarily do it for the fragments but for the exploration data. So there is no chance of frustration setting in if i can't find a sss or an UA just drops one. I honestly can't tell if i'd thought of the while process as overly grindy if i just went out to only look for fragments. Maybe it's a mindset thing. Again, i understand your reasoning, maybe i'm just lucky that i don't feel the same. 3 hours for 6 fragments would make me want to do something else too.

But i'm afraid i don't agree on the grind part. It was just another exploration run. For me at least. Same way i made a list of potential mats etc. i might need. And then i made it a habit to always pick up at least the rare mats and scan a lot more ships/wakes than before. One can do that last part while leaving any station, so its just something to do on the side. Mission only commodities are the only really bad thing - for me.

I've been picking up UAs and fragments this evening.
11 UAs so far.

The shell seems to be 135-145ly from Merope.
Flying around scanning the planets has been a perfectly fine way to pick them up.
I've had them close to the main star and far away.
If you are in a system at the right distance, they will appear.

HIP 14479 is a good spot for UA hunting. Hope it helps.

This!

Took me about 2 hours of supercruising around in HIP 14479 to get all 25. Actually took me 3 hours but an hour was wasted trying to find UA's in any other system besides HIP 14479. I collected 24 fragments in 2 hours in HIP 14479 and 1 fragment in 1 hour in all other adjacent systems.

Thanks for this tip cmdr. o7
