Update 1 and Early Cretaceous Pack coming 9 December to Jurassic World Evolution 2

The update looks good. However it is not great. The Sandbox option is missing to excavate fossils and investigate everything on the same map. This is the most important option that everyone wants. It is also necessary to add all the maps of the campaign to the challenge mode. Challenge mode needs more maps !!.

Despite this it is a great step in the right direction. The aviaries and ponds of the JP era were necessary just like the changes to storms and diseases in Jurassic Park's Chaos Theory mode.

It is not what I wanted but I will buy this new DLC. We have to keep supporting the game until it becomes what we all want.

Seconded! This update is MASSIVE and addresses nearly every issue that's been raised so far. In fact, the only two left I can think of is placeable trees/logs and the hit box issue where it needs to be just a little smaller (see the free build mod for what I mean) so we can fuse rocks and such together or put placeable trees (in the future where hopefully they get added) together with rocks and the planters and lights to make unique decorative arrangements to really spice up the parks/facilities.

Well done indeed!
missing customizable Challenge Mode so we can build a park w/o a buncha crazy limits, and without the boredom of God mode with Sandbox. I wanna be able to play JWE2 in a jpog-esque way, that's all I did in JWE1, ton of Medium Challenges just for fun to build a park w/ limited money and needing to progress and just play the game like it was designed to be played

Happy to support the game as long as the devs keep listening to us and it very much seems this has happened, well done devs!

Does this mean we'll be able to place the auditorium from San Diego in our parks? :D

A good start into december💪! But what is with more deco/scenery items (single trees!) and the option to start with all dinos and buildings in the sandbox mode? Or the possibility to research them... These are the most wanted features of the community besides more and bigger maps that we are getting now...

Pretty sure there is a difficulty slider on the Challenge Modes that does just that with a few challenges. That said, I wish they would add the option to turn off scientists AND leave them on and add expeditions for fossils, wild captures and research and instant incubation, all combat on or off or just herbivores or just carnivores into Sandbox mode so that everyone is happy. Turn it off if you want just god mode or tweak them or leave them on for a JPOG/campaign like experience in Sandbox.

Good patch and thankfully we will finally have more parity for Jurassic Park.

Having pterosaurs perch on rocks is a small but huge improvement as well, helps keep them from staying on the viewing gallery too much. That said, any word on the missing decorations for Jurassic Park we don't yet have? I also forgot, but we don't even have the JP pylons for our powerlines anymore, feels really weird to see the old JP power stations hooked up to the JW pylons.

I can't really gripe about the patch though, all vastly needed changes that will make the game feel more complete.

Hello Park Managers!

Grab your Ranger Gear, because we're heading out on an archeological dig! We're excited to announce the Early Cretaceous Pack coming to Jurassic World Evolution 2 on 9 December. The Early Cretaceous Pack adds two new land dinosaurs, one new flying reptile, and one new marine reptile to the game, all from the Early Cretaceous Era.

You'll be getting to know Wuerhosaurus, Minmi, Dsungaripterus and Kronosaurus a little better over the next week, but you can check out the Species Field Guide for Kronosaurus in the video below:

If you find yourself in Hyde Park in London on 8 and 9 December, you can see the Kronosaurus come to life over the Serpentine during the evening, after sunset.

Releasing alongside the Early Cretaceous Pack is free Update 1! The Jurassic World Evolution 2 team has been hard at work making this world evolved even bigger than before. Update 1 will introduce more playable maps, more building sets, rock perch points for flying reptiles, and several other quality of life changes. and bug fixes. Read on to learn more:

DFW/JP Building Sets

Buildings and fences from the Department of Fish and Wildlife will be available in Sandbox Mode starting from 9 December. If you enjoyed the campaign mode and wanted to continue building using the DFW's building set, you'll be able to use them very very soon. Update 1 includes a full set of DFW buildings, from Restrooms and Lagoons, to Hotels and Viewing Platforms. We're also releasing additional Jurassic Park themed buildings, specifically Lagoons and Aviaries, so you can have marine and flying reptiles in your Jurassic Park era Sandbox.

Campaign Sandbox Levels

After Update 1 you can use the five campaign maps in Sandbox Mode. Revisit the Arizona desert, the Washington State mountains, the Pennsylvania airport, the forests of Oregon, and Yosemite National park in Sandbox and create some amazing dinosaur parks or facilities. We can't wait to see what you build in these locations. Which map will you build on first?

Flattened Sandbox Levels

Do you prefer to start with a blank slate in Sandbox Mode? After Update 1 you can! When you start up Sandbox Mode you will now have the option to start with a completely flat, tree-less version of any map. You can then modify the map topography and flora as you wish!

Rock Perch Points

Speaking of flying reptiles: they can now perch on rocks placed inside an Aviary, letting you and your guests appreciate their majesty when they rest between flights.

Balance Changes

We've done a few changes to game balancing based on some of your feedback. The frequency of storms and disease outbreaks in Chaos Theory should be less frequent after this patch, as should disease outbreaks in Easy and Medium difficulty Challenge levels. We've also made some tweaks to the Dominance stat, which should cut down on dinosaur fights, as well as decreased the likelihood of dinosaur fights causing injuries. Finally, we've rebalanced the combat stats of dinosaurs that can be involved in group hunts.

Accessibility Additions

Update 1 also comes with several accessibility additions. We've added in different subtitle colours for each speaker, an adjustable autosave frequency, and the game can be paused during cutscenes.

The DLC and free Update 1 will release on 9 December at 14:00 GMT, or at the following times in the time zones listed below:
  • 15:00 CET
  • 09:00 EST
  • 06:00 PST
  • 01:00 AET (on 10th Dec)
We hope you're looking forward to all these new changes and additions. Update 1 will come with various other tweaks and bug fixes, and the full list of patch notes will be released on launch, 9 December. Let us know what you think in the comments below! Will the JP3 Pteranodon be available as a skin?

This update looks fantastic! I have a question about the DLC and new JP era aviaries and lagoons, though. Will the Chaos Theory levels or Challenge levels reflect this new dinosaur selection or are they limited to Sandbox only?

The previous game added all new dinosaurs to the campaign and challenge mode levels, but they didn't have the same limitations. I'd like to know where I could use these new dinosaurs if I were to purchase them.

JP theme aviary and lagoons. Yes!

This sounds like a great update. I am way more hyped for the free update than I am for the paid content. Though I will definitely be getting the DLC on release cause more dinosaurs and reptiles for the game.

The ability to use the DFW assets in sandbox is also a really welcomed improvement. I just wish we could mix them together with the other eras. The basic utilitarian style of the DFW buildings would go well with a Site B build combined with some classic JP themed buildings.

This is going to be awesome update though. The DLC dinosaurs look great as well. This is just what the game needed.

It might be a 7.5 now but with DLC and improvements through updates it can easily be a an 8, 9 or possibly 10.

Exactly! It’s the possibility I loved JPOG and Jurassic world Evolution for.
One of the most requested features (and one of the more simple to had) and… nothing.
It’s hard to admit that I’ll uninstall JWE2 and come back on JWE.

Can you give us options to have the current storm and fighting percentages? The game will be too easy with these toned down and I like the challenge.

Will the DFW be its own era?

Hey! The DFW buildings will be considered a separate "era", in Sandbox. So if you're on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, it's either Jurassic Park, Jurassic World or DFW.
Since we are getting JP aviaries, will the 93 Fords be able to drive into the aviaries like the tour trucks?
