It's not like I'm getting into a state of uncontrollable rage when I hear the 'magnetic boots' line, or walked past the 26 day sign in the past. Or the pizza box. I do roll my eyes though because avoiding these would be such easy wins, and they're still in the game after 10 patches, and with FDev's track record of leaving broken or poorly designed things in the game... well.Perhaps I'm too naive, here, but I think that at some point these little creases will be ironed out.
After the initial bemusement for these little inconsistencies, I let them go (ofc, different level of personal tolerance involved here), not because they're fine, but because it's a disservice I do to myself over an aspect I have no control upon, while there's so much I'm enjoying.
I see them as little niggles: not ideal, but inconsequential in my broader picture.
And they might be amended at some point, perhaps sneakily, when (if?) the major firefighting ceases.
So I guess it's less about "why is a bug in the game" because that's easy to answer, but more the question of "why did they think it a good idea to place a single pizza box, in exactly the same noticeable spot, without any hint of variety, and into a zero grav environment?", and I think that highlights a much more substantial problem than little oversights here or there, that was a deliberate design choice.
Even the 'normal' space environment is affected in terms of immersion breaking stuff (i.e. things that worked fine in the past, though those are normally bugs) - I've seen some pictures of solar eclipses planetside where the star shines through the planet, or asteroid rings become partially invisible. In isolation maybe not a big deal, but these really do add up to the extent that FDev could probably be able to spend the entire year on fixing these little issues without bringing the game as a whole forward in any shape or form. And this week's update/patch will no doubt add new issues to that long list, as per FDev tradition.
As for firefighting, I'd say they've exited that mode around Christmas time and have since resumed to BAU.
