3.8 won't be having any time or money spent on it, while 4.0 and Ody will. I think that's what they mean by 'saving money'. 3.8 will essentially be like the console version is now, no further development, but you will still have the choice to play that if you want. Console players can still play, just no new stuff developed for it, and I think the same will go for 3.8. But we will see, "sometime after Update 13".![]()
I haven't read the entire thread yet but with Horizons 3.8, Horizons 4.0 and Odyssey, There better not be THREE versions of Open-play segregated from each other.Hi all,

Yep to this, im still running Ody on an old 1070 with no issues at all, no stutter, no slow downWhat kind of hardware are they using? I heard that Ody performs worse on better hardware (as weird as that sounds). For me, I play Ody without problems or performance issues (apart from the odd frame drop when arriving at a station). Granted, I only have a 1080p 60Hz monitor, but using High and Very High details, I still get anywhere between 50-60 FPS on my old AMD FX9590 and Vega56 GPU. From what I've read, high end Nvida and AMD GPUs seem to have performance issues with Ody, but lower end stuff doesn't.![]()

If there is, it will absolutely be a huge nail in the coffin of PvP. You cannot expect Powerplay PvP pilots to be checking three separate live versions of the game just to encounter players...
Although I am looking forward to the September data copy, I am still concerned.Hi all,

Please consider an option to uninstall client 3.8.Hi all,

It does happen, albeit rare. Us imperials fought off a federal protection wing in Odyssey last night in one of Winters Expansions.powerplay PvP that's not coordinated is a myth on par with bigfoot. It almost never happened organically even when there was only 1 version.
There already is an option to do so. Select the version of the game you no longer want on your HDD, then go to Options at the top of the launcher. Near the bottom of the dropdown list is 'Uninstall Game'. The tooltip for this say it will uninstall the currently selected game, and user files (like saves) will not be affected. Please consider an option to uninstall client 3.8.
Elite Dangerous currently occupies 70 GB, more than Cyberpunk 2077, and update 13 will likely make it even larger. Uninstalling client 3.8 would free up 20 GB.
I think you've misread the post. Nothing is changing for Horizons as v3.8. You will still be able to do everything in that version that you can do in Horizons right now. You will be given a choice to use Horizons as a v4.0 if you wish. It's not being forced on you. You don't have to use it... Well, of course, unless you want to participate in the narrative from now on that is...Waaaay too soon.
Should just start a new game, Frontier, Land of the many colored snakes.
.
It is the Thargoids Ultimate weapon against humans.
Destroy the game so no-one can win.
Makes a person wonder
when you have something that works, why mess with it? Why do you want so badly to not test stuff better and keep wasting time?
If your intent is to force cmdrs to give NVidia more money, then go for it.
I have to ask, does Frontier have shares with Nvidia?
Is it beyond reason to show proof that the graphic problems are fixed before destroying what is left of the player base????
well, does not look quite like the merge we were told about, so , some good news.
Why would we want EDO ?? Fdev is hoping that the transfer of consoles to PC will net then some EDO sales aswell .Tons of PS5s have been sold across Europe in the last few weeks.
I think Frontier will regret its decision.
Console players will get free copies of Elite when they move.
Wouldn't it be wiser to sell Odyssey to all those hundreds of thousands of new NextGen players?![]()
my read of the OP and the linked post was that 3.8 wont even be a thing accessible to players. 4.0 horizons will exist and odyssey will remain a separate "optional" dlc.
I may have misunderstood you but EDO, as the DLC it is, has always been optional. Much like Horizons was also optional while it was a DLC of the base vanilla game. EDH, while it was a DLC, also got a ton of content added to it.Oh My GOD. They downgraded Odyssey to " Optional " - So Horizon 4.0 will become the main game?
This will certainly not look good on Odyssey reviews on Steam.
Since it's " Optional " - that mean no more on foot content, right?
I think the comment was sarcasm... Well, I hope it was.I may have misunderstood you but EDO, as the DLC it is, has always been optional. Much like Horizons was also optional while it was a DLC of the base vanilla game. EDH, while it was a DLC, also got a ton of content added to it.
no, I got that, I edited most of my post out. it was much worse till my lack of caffeine brain realized what it was really reading.....I think you've misread the post. At least that's how I'm reading it anyway. To enjoy narrative after the Azimuth Saga, you'll need to use Horizons 4.0, and 3.8 won't(?) get any. Buuutttt... I could be wrong about that part, that's just my interpretation of the original post.![]()
