Update 14 and Beyond: Live and Legacy Modes

Good work.

Sorry if you're on a console - looks like you get a rum deal.

I guess I assume that the majority of console players who wanted to xfer have done so, most accounts (note most) that haven't probably aren't active. No I don't have any evidence.
I know a lot of console players who have decided f it all as they been fdeved log enough

As stated previously in this thread, FDev has already made their stance on this crystal clear. The carrier must be decommissioned prior to beginning the transfer. They have said zero about accepting the process that you're proposing.

And, once again, it's not just "me" - there are plenty of console players that are not glued to the FDev forums and aren't even aware that the clock is now ticking - what happens to them next week? I guess F them, right? Only the most hardcore, dedicated to FDev, players should survive the game? No filthy casuals that don't watch the forums religiously? Because if you want to kill an online game - that's how you begin to do it.
Oh come on. The only console cmdrs who haven't yet changed are edge cases or those hoping to make a fuss. .

There’s no point in acting surprised about it. All the planning charts and demolition orders have been on display at your local planning department in Alpha Centauri for 50 of your Earth years, so you’ve had plenty of time to lodge any formal complaint and it’s far too late to start making a fuss about it now.

Or the ones who can't afford to get a PC

I feel like you're fighting a losing battle. The 6-day window we have now, after they've said there would be plenty of notice, just shows how much of a cluster....they're in right now. How they get anything done is beyond me. The PC cmdrs here that are arguing with you are just doing it for the sake of arguing. You can be sure if the situation were reversed they'd be upset.
You're absolutely right. It boggles my mind why these people would argue against giving players more notice. It does not hurt them in any way. Literally zero. It's an online / multiplayer game. You want as many people playing it as possible. It's what keeps the world "alive" and what pays the bills to keep servers running and content coming. When you lose a significant portion of your player base, it can have a much more wide reaching effect than anticipated.

Plus, if for no other reason, players should always be concerned about any game company that makes a promise (especially one that drives sales, or calms opposition) and then immediately reneges on that promise. That should worry everyone.

But, I see that FDev or mods are not going to address the many repeats of the same questions/concerns from console players - they've made it clear how those players rank to them I guess. And all I'm going to get are responses from trolls or people who want the remaining console players to ... not join on PC for some reason? Makes perfect sense.

There probably are a good many who have already transferred. But there's probably a lot who planned to hold off until they received the "plenty of notice" that was promised. Right now that notice isn't sufficient to actually make a transfer. Kind of a raw deal from FDEV.

The above post has been seen 20 thousand times.

I wonder how many (or few?) CMDRs are still playing on console. I've read many comments/posts from console CMDRs complaining that they'd quit and/or the console game was dead following its maintenance mode announcement, plus many stating that they've transferred to a PC account (playing either on PC or GeForce Now).

Odyssey and Horizons players will be able to instance together for the first time as of Update 14 by both being able to play in Horizons on Live. In that regard we're joining players together rather than fragmenting anything. What we're not offering is to allow Horizons players into the Odyssey instance for free.
This is such a twisted response with contradictory information. Translating this answer into plain English: "NO. HORIZONS AND ODY PLAYERS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO INSTANCE TOGETHER. HORIZONS WILL INSTANCE WITH HORIZONS, AND ODY WILL INSTANCE WITH ODY. BOTH WHILE USING THE SAME VERSION. Same as it has always been." There ya go, fixed it.

Since Horizons 4.0 doesnt use any kind of space legs.
What are system requirements fro Horizons 4.0, mainly storage space needed?

I'm sorry, I really don't know what your point is there. A post that was made 6 hours ago has been seen by 20k people so therefore 6 days is enough of a warning?

Someone replied to me on Twitter with "oh CMDRs should have just done the transfer on day one!", imagine being a console player and transferring now on a midlevel account, getting triple Elite, then getting a PC and jumping on to.... Back to midlevel. Absolutely blows my mind how people can't see that the 6-7 days of notice is absolutely atrocious communication from Fdev.

Doesn't the transfer , transfer you rank? So if you were triple elite and transferred you'd stay triple elite, no?

I have a lot of friends who killed there ships in sag a enclosure zone
In protest or do you mean they killed console commanders there?!
(I suspect the former...)

Either way, that seems like a lot of effort to "suicide" out there!! 😯😂 ...

A few months ago I made my first long range trip, about 8,000 light years out and back and with the limited amount of time it takes me to play the game, it took me the best part of a month to get out there in the first place, so for me and I suspect many others, that seems like a rather big waste of several months time and effort (even if you use a fleet carrier), "just" to protest this companies' disappointing decisions, which they MIGHT go back on and "rescue" the "legacy" versions of the game (however unlikely that is!) 😯😂😐🤘
