Update 18 | Update Notes

Greetings Commanders,

We will be restarting the Elite Dangerous Live/4.0 servers in 30 minutes to fix a server side issue. Downtime is expected to be approximately 20 minutes.

We are continuing to investigate reports of the Titans heat cores.
Python 2 comfirmed?

This new update broke my game. Yesterday, I spent hours trying to get it to update & the furthest it got was completely stalling after getting to 100%. I let it sit at 100% for over an hour just to make sure. Today, I uninstalled & deleted all the local file & I'm trying to do a fresh install. Now it's stalled at 15%. I'd sure love to play, but it's all broken, now.
 
I am wrong or I have difficulties on firing range?
Ok, i have short range lasers, but before the update the lasers were firing without any problems....
it's like they're out of energy, but the weapon bar is full.

Hopefully this also fixes the problem that the game ends itself unplanned and when you want to quit it, 3D window residues are left over.
 
At first, I get excited by this update, but once again I feel disappointed. It has a taste of unfinished job.
Main point of this update is about taking down Titan... but here is the spoiler part.


To conclude
Its just about farming, farming. Yes, the first attempt required a wing of 20+ cmdrs… Thargoids wars is a good think for players workings together to achieve a goal. But for players like me, that use to plays in small groups (hard to have more than 2 or 3 of my friends connected at the same times) This kind of activity is just not doable for us. I just feel put apart of those activity. And I just go back to uninteresting old farming mechanism….
? Brother Sabathius was pretty much solo-ing it on Twitch.

Okay seriously, so I've been playing the game more or less straight after the update yesterday. I notice that at least one bug that's been niggling me has been fixed?
Enabling or disabling some of the Carrier Services while in the game wasn't working properly before this present update (U18). I had to log out the game and log in to re-set it.
Now it's working as it's supposed to! (y) Yay!, Cheers Frontier. (okay I'm easily pleased, so what :p)
And.....Am I imagining it?...or has the games background music had some 'enhancement' added with U18?
My favourite bugs are:
Floating rocks in your landing pad slot when entering/leaving a surface starport.
Your ship slows to zero throttle in supercruise (30.0km/s) when you switch to Fleet Carrier view in the right-hand panel.

I think neither of those are fixed.
 
I was thinking it as a feature!
Rather pointless when I'm going at hundreds of c towards a distant binary companion system, no obstacles within tens of thousands of light seconds, and I have no need to slow down to look at any other panels including the Codex!

I'm extremely sure that this is not a bug but a feature, so you don't crash into anything. This is done with nearly all views (carrier, map, codex, engineers etc), only the immediate 4 panels in your ship don't do that.

With Supercruise assist on you won't crash into your target. And it doesn't slow down when I'm looking at the Codex, engineers, system and galaxy maps
etc. Why would they be different?

It's literally only the Carrier screen on mine.

Ok, just joking, I know (just found out) it's server side, but the former is true. No problem, was just going for dinner anyway. :D
