1) Not planned, but we'll see how this first incarnation turns out.

2) Largely based on feedback here on the forums and other social mediums and a little from metrics, we'll perform tweaks and adjustments.

Please consider the FSD upgrade especially, i made 8 rolls so far and the final result is not worth all the time i spent gathering the materials. :x

Sincerly hope you will consider this post

I hope for this, too.
With all respect to FD and their effort made (not just to this patch), the favors systems introduced for the special effects just very slightly ease the crafting randomness and the whole problem of "lot of work for nothing, because I had a bad roll".

Do I understand correctly, if I wanted a special effect on a level 5 weapon upgrade , if I force it I will drop down level to 3 with this engineer?
So if I would want to force the special effects all 5 weapons on my python, I will have to craft enough other stuff to rank up a combined 10 levels in order to get there?

Pretty much and because of overlap between the upgrade ranks you're not guaranteed to actually get a better weapon on that final roll. This is a step in the right direction but a small one. Either mat requirements need to come down or quantity collected per instance needs to increase.

Looks like there is finally a reward system in place for engineering mods.
It's still a grind, but at lease the game is playable now, and endeavour and time spent = reward.
And the multi-cannon change ... "I told you so!" I was quit prepared to fit only multi-cannons.
Mines are OP rendering interdictions pointless and irrelevant. They've been pointless and irrelevant to gameplay from the very beginning. AI have to ask for the cargo they can carry - or mission specific cargo (or offer you a bribe for it). Or take it with hatch breaker when shields are down. Or hack the data from your comp if it's data you carry. And there should be AI ships you can hire to run missions with you improving gameplay. The better the AI the less money you get for the mission or cargo run. And players should be able to plug into this and offer services in a wing. Adding more community wing play to the game. Such a small change could go a very long way to adding to the realism.
At the moment the game is...well...not cohesive. Fragmented and dysfunctional. If I wanted to play a crap-shoot, I'd log into an on-line casino.
I want more community gameplay. And I want to see open missions and open play were players can control stations when in open play mode only. (and if they combat log they get a time penalty of a week from open play)
32w played. 5400 hours+

The Grind is REAL!

Death to RNG Fdev! Please... I don't have the time to grind so many hours and hours....! :(

*Mod hat off

This would go some way along the lines you suggest no?:
- alter the changes in allowed interdiction ranks based on security, so that the biggest rank disparities are reserved for very low security and anarchy systems

This change means that if you are harmless in a high sec system your tailor-made NPCs are very unlikely to be of a significantly higher rank than you, but if you go to an anarchy system all bets are off. It doesn't however change much to the rank-creep issue which afaik Kerrash is worried about (reaching a high combat rank being inevitable over time, with the possibility that your combat rank eventually not only catches up and with your actual skill cap as a player but goes beyond that, which could prove rather frustrating especially if, at some point later in time, the higher rank NPCs eventually become trully dangerous and offer a challenge even to the best players, as they should).

Was this because of how dark Darwin's Legacy at Beagle Point was because it was dark!

Since 2.1 released I came across MANY planets that had no lighting on the dark side whatsoever! Couple that with the nearly complete lack of surface detail, and you had a pretty difficult landing ahead of you!

I'm really hoping to see some radical improvements to the look of planet surfaces after this update. If I don't then I am probably going to start making plans to shelve the game and start looking for another space sim to invest my time into. It has been my experience that once Frontier's development team has decided that a particular bug or performance issue isn't bad enough to bother fixing or improving, you are pretty much stuck with that mediocrity for the duration.

Don't think I am going to be able to adjust to the huge downgrade in graphics quality and fps performance that was sprung on us with the 2.1 updates.

Guess I will know what my ED future is going to be in the next 24 hours. ;)

Is the update available for download now?

Why grind at all? Without cargo space or a place to put all the free cargo that the Engineers will need and you will get to complete a mission, you will fill your hold and will have to resort to bounty hunting or space exploration to earn any credits while dodging laser bolts and thermals for carrying around all that cargo. You may be tempted to, like many of us with smaller ships, just not grind anymore. We will just not play the roulette wheel anymore --- PERIOD!.

- Permit Missions should now give a permit

Fantastic! I've been waiting for this!

Same here, I had a tasty mission to deliver items to Lave 2 for 900K, got to the system but couldn't complete as I needed a permit so got a 900k fine instead for abandoning the mission. also ended up with an Anaconda on my tail which destroyed my Python in under a minute which then cost me 10 Million to replace. I'm glad they are trying to fix these issues though.

Good list of fixes, BUT - I can't find any mention of the black HUD problem on xbox, and to me that is a serious bug that has stopped me playing several times.
Also I agree we need to be able to store cargo at stations, I keep getting it as rewards but if I don't sell it I get interdicted and destroyed, every time. We should at least be able to store it in our other ships at the same ports, that's just obvious, I can only assume it is planned for the future as the fact that we can't is very illogical.

Thanks again for the update, but PLEASE sort that black HUD bug, it's been far too long and it ruins the game.
If a bug report has been filed for it, could you send me a link to said bug report thread? Will ask around about it.
