We didnt got any news or post about the intentions at all for 2 weeks, then this nice and huge patch, but still is not enough, a lot still need to be tweacked and fixed.

All looks very good - and quite large set of patch notes.

Sadly, nothing in there about slowness of entering mission screen :(
If you could speed up mission side of things (so it's not like 9 seconds of waiting) in the next one :)

Thanks for the changes FD.

However, I don't think these changes rectify the some of the main criticisms. Too much RNG, no player agency and no incremental progress.

Also having to do 6 useless crafts, 3 at grade 3 and 3 and grade 4, every time I want to improve a single hard point is not something that's enticing me back into the game.

No one is forcing you to choose your special effects.

Some really great bug fixes here, a fair few of the smaller blockers to me returning to the game have been fixed by the looks of things, this gives me some hope.

Unfortunately none of the big issues I (and many others) have with the 2.1 update have been addressed. There is still a lack of compelling game play around the collection of materials, still no sensible way to find elemental materials on the surface of planets (I don't consider a player made spreadsheet sensible for a game of this scale) the detailed surface scanner is there and screaming "USE ME TO SCAN FOR MATERIALS" but I haven't head anything to that effect from devs.
There is still no commodities storage or module storage, the game loop around the engineers is still horribly unrewarding to do, and now even more unrewarding if you want a special effect on your weapons because the work that needs to be done has been nearly tripled, further forcing people into that unrewarding loop.

Some great work has been done in this patch, some really welcome bugfixes, but without some word from the devs on their intentions with regards to making engineers gameplay more compelling and less frustrating I personally will not be returning, and based on OA's video yesterday and the response to it, I doubt I'm alone.

You guys play everything too close to your chests, if we don't want to be spoiled we wont read what you write, but most of us just want to know what your intentions are.

Now if only they could dedicate the entire next patch release to sorting the major VR issues.

Why would they dedicate an entire patch to VR? VR is still a very niche thing.

No one is forcing you to bumble around aimlessly just "playing the game" and seeing what you come across. Some of us play with clear goals.

Then if your goal is to get the special mod you want, you should work for it.

Great job guys. I am sure this will make many people more relaxed, and give the people who want to be elite a chance to do just that. Thank you.

Exactly. Tbh I'm not convinced we should even be able to pick our special effects. To me it throws the whole thing out of whack.

No one is forcing anyone to use reputation to get something you desire. If you desire something, you should work for it.

This ^^ ..I want to give you +rep but it says I can't.. :(

Did they look at assissination missions that require a suicide run to a data beacon on a heavily defended base?

Base assaults are...impossible solo. I stopped bothering. This part of ED is...a polly-gone (pun intended)
So the only reason to land on a planet is to look for rocks. With that said...my motivation to even bother with that is evaporating fast.

I'm beginning to wonder if the other game developers of that other kick-starter space sim game are looking at all the mistakes Frontier are making with a keen eye. And I am looking at their game now...with an even keener eye.

And when I do quit ED...and put my efforts into another game...that's it for ED as far as I am concerned. I want time invested to bring the rewards. If there are no rewards...that will always be in my mind when I consider it. I get that sour feeling in my stomach when I look at the ED launch icon now. Its the same with WOW. Eight years played. And I get physically sick at the thought of loading it and getting into it again. All the bad memories of why I quit WOW just flood back and I get depressed.

We all have these hopes and dreams. How sad it is...that you have to wake up to reality. And you can never remember a good dream. What a bummer!

Very nice work FDev!

Michael, any chance to tell us what are your thoughts on storage and what kind will you be implementing first?

They aren't that difficult lol. You just need to use your surroundings to your advantage :)
