Update 9.01 - Patch Notes

Calm down everyone FD has proven they will fix their stuff. Give em a little time.
(not so much directed at you, but in response to you (ie, "yeah..."))

I know from experience that there's no bug that cannot be fixed, though sometimes the root cause can be difficult to find, and/or the fix requires a redesign of something.

Frustration is understandable. Abuse is unacceptable. Yes there are a lot of issues right now, yes it's frustrating, yes the CM team is gathering info and passing it on to those who can and will fix it. How long will it take? They will tell us when they can. Complain all you want but do so with some decency and respect. The reason the game is in the state it is, is above their pay grade and not their fault. They are the ones trying to fix it while having abuse flung at them from all directions.

I'm sorry for the outburst but this is not an Alpha or Beta, this is supposed to be a full release. After 7 months of issues a simple we'll tell you when we can is not enough. Is the community supposed to just be silent and wait for a product that they paid for to have it's issues resolved? The forums are supposed to be the place to, among other things, communicate your issues with the game openly. How else should the community express their frustrations?

re: firegroups issues
  • firegroups cleared on login (specifically, first login since 9.01, had not upgraded to 9.00 in between)
  • was able to modify firegroups once then could not subsequently move focus onto the modules to change them
  • only checked Odyssey
  • ship type: DBX
  • modules present: 1x chaff, 1x heatsink, four scanners (FSS, DSS, comp scanner, one other (forgot name) ). No weapons.
  • jumping to another system did not affect the ability to modify firegroups.
  • have not checked repeated login yet
EDIT after repeated logins:

  • after each login in 9.01 the previous firegroup setup of my DBX is retained (there is only one firegroup)
  • the firegroup may be modified once after each login, then after moving away from the screen focus cannot be returned to the modules for further adjustment

Are you by any chance a young ‘un?

-take a deep breath. This is a video game. A game. For fun.
-go play something else. Go take a walk. Learn to play guitar or speak Japanes.
-have a thought: do you really believe fdev wants bugs/issues/problems in the game they made and love?

Politely?

The reality, like it or not is that this is a beta. The game wasn't ready in April but boardroom beancounters made decisions and here we are. Nobody wants it to be this way, not the players, not FDEV not the CM team but here we are. They have worked damn hard since the launch to fix it and despite the new issues the game is in a far better place than it was a short time ago. I for one am willing to let them do it, despite the frustrations, this game means enough to me and the universe I've enjoyed for over 30 years means enough. No one is stifling complaints, just remember they are doing their job under difficult circumstances and they are people like us.

Hi all - we're continuing to look into issues with the genetic sampler - can I get a sitrep on Fire Groups post 9.01?

How many of you are still seeing issues with Fire Group management and what are they? Bullet point answers if possible please!
Odyssey:
- Firegroups that have been deleted are leaving columns that won't go away (only so far observed in one column in the dbx, all others appear to delete)
- Ships with firegroups already set up are able to have their firegroups changed
- All ships not flown since 9.01 have had their firegroups deleted
- When going to the Firegroups tab.. first you have to press DOWN or UP before you can navigate left and right, this might be causing some people to think it's softlocked
- This is the big one .. If there are no weapons on the ship, you CANNOT assign a firegroup at ALL, that means no discovery scanner or DSS which is critical, the functionality returns when you apply a new weapon back on the ship again.

Very very surprised you need confirmation of this once you knew there was a problem.

Horizons:
- As per Odyssey but this time when switching back to my DBX all my bindings were wiped even though they had been set previously. I tried to reset them and it instantly crashed me to desktop. clean out of the game. It is not good. Upon restart all my bindings were back.

Consider this your one and only warning regarding your attitude. My team are working flat out, as they have been since launch, listening and communicating issues that are raised by the community to the the development team.

Resolutions to these issues are not always as easy as you seem to think. When we have the answers to these questions or issues, we communicate them. Whilst I can understand your frustration, I do not and will not accept this type of attitude towards my team.

Arthur, whilst I think that the poster - in this case - expressed his frustration in a less than optimal fashion, I would offer in mitigation that FDev, by continuing to release what are unarguably substandard updates, really demonstrates a lack of respect to it's customers. I feel great sympathy for your team, as the community managers are clearly on the sharp end of decisions and business direction taken at a very high level within FDev. I really do feel that the direction now needs to move away from rapid fire release after release to making sure that future releases are fit for purpose, stable, and don't break existing functionality. It sometimes feels, as an FDev customer, that the business does not seem to learn. The original Odyssey release was badly bugged, and 7 months later it's equally surprising and frustrating that new content issued appears equally compromised. Can I ask please when we may have an answer on the resolution of the two bigger issues - the xeno scanner and the targetting issues?

I don't know if this issue is new, but when I'm in an asteroid field and I turn the rotational correction ON/OFF, the asteroids changes their shape.

Folks, we understand if people are frustrated at times but please remember to keep it civil. Direct attacks, abuse on members of the Community Team will not be tolerated.

Please give feedback and constructive criticism by all means but take a moment to consider what you post.

Thanks.

Without being abusive.

It's really simple.
