Thanks to the team Zac.

You know I ordered my CV1 on faith that FDEV would have the game working with the Rift shortly after release and you have not disappointed. VR ready before the hardware arrives!

Those beers at LaveCon are waiting at the bar...

Quick update to keep you all in the loop.

We've hit a small issue in deployment which the team have been focusing on. Everything is progressing fine but it does mean that the servers will need to remain down for a little longer. We're estimating up to a couple of hours but we'll keep people informed as we know more. :)

Thanks,

Zac

A thargoids Issue in this 2.0.07 update?

Thanks for letting us know Zac! I don't suppose there's a place we can download the new clients manually is there? So that we'll be ready when the server update lands? (Or are the file servers that host the updated clients the same servers as the game servers?)

Don't promise pixel beer....send a crate of Spitfire to their offices!

Surely that deserves a free conda mods!

Yeah I was in the same boat... The Win8.1 PC upgraded to Win10 one day, next day the Win7 PC did the same. Gutted, I wanted to keep Win7 on the old one.

You should try the revert button. It works perfectly and it's fast. And after that, you are still entitled to your copy of Win10 should you change your mind later.

I kept win8 on most of the computers in the house for a variety of very concrete reasons and upgraded only one.

(I think after the revert action, the GWX updater program will eventually pop up again unless you apply a number of registry changes to stop it; there are some very clear instructions online what you need to do - I followed all of them and never seen any signs of win10 again).

Oh, there's a problem. Now when has that ever happened? ;-)
Not sure why we don't just publish the upgrade intent well in advance and say we will be down for 8 hours so suck it up folks.
At least then everyone can have their expectations set.
I can't remember too many (if any) of the patches & upgrades running to the original estimates TBH.

But thanks for the update Zac, much appreciated.

I am very careful with that too, and had originally set to not allow it to update anything by itself... and one morning, when I had an important meeting and still stuff to finish it just suddenly started the update while I was in the middle of doing stuff (that really annoyed me a lot). First I thought I may have accidentally triggered it myself (maybe some popup coming up and while I was typing I hit enter or space and that way accepted it), though I was pretty sure it wasn't the case. Then the same day in the evening, while I was away from the PC it suddenly updated my gaming PC too, and that time I was 100% sure I didn't trigger anything, as I was away from the PC for like 3h or so with no input whatsoever...

[though I also have to say all in all am ok with Win10 so far, and I wanted to move to it anyway at some point, but *at the time of MY choosing*]

I got the forced update on one of my computers as well. The scary thing was my was that I hadn't taken a proper backup of the machine. Luckily the only thing that didn't work was a USB to RS232 adapter. I had to buy a new one. I've managed to keep Microsoft's paws off my gaming machine so that the DK2 still works.

A lot of people are saying that Windows 10 is the last Windows Operating System you'll install on your machine... I can that prophesy coming true.

Gaaaaaaahhhhh! And here's me with 10 tons of Ceremonial Heike Tea I was planning to deliver for the community goals, and the last hours of the event I can't log in! I've been waiting all week for the time I had available tonight to play. So unhappy. :( It's after 11pm local time (I'm in Oz), I've waited 2 hours, time for bed. So frustrating when games take down servers in the closing hours of events.

Does that mean a total of 4 hours downtime?

Macy must be psychic!

A couple is two but sounds slightly less formal. Like two's cool twin brother that could turn up to party in a Hawaiian shirt and could turn up early or possibly even a little late. No one really knows for sure.

In short: Yeah we're estimating up to 2 hours. :)

Is that 2 more hours, than the original 2 hours, making it 4 hours all up?

Better yet... host Arena on a totally separate server. You'd have a lot of participation in Arena/CQC during the hours where the main server is offline. Give us something non-productive to do while we wait. Instead I'm stuck tackling a stack of dirty dishes...

Lets hope they bring some good gin and tonic then ... if we have to stand their hawaii shirts ;-) Feeling much better now regarding the 10 - 8 hours ;-)

You don't NEED a proper backup. The upgrade process retains a perfect copy of your original o/s install and there's a tool in Win 10 to revert back. I know because I've used it 3 times now thanks to the abject incompetence of a company called Creative.

My client still showing server status UPGRADING but Bulletin says The ED servers have now been updated to 2.0.07
Do I have to download a new client if so where ?

We are still waiting. The client will offer an update when it's available. Soon.

Uhm, hey there. I'm a new cmdr (got EDH literally yesterday) so asking just to be sure - me and my wing mate were in the middle of contract run when server went down. Will contract time limit freeze until update is installed or not?

Sorry for my poor English, it's not my native language.
