Update on Communication

CIG cut down their roadmap from 9 months to 3. The user base goes salty.

Frontier - Hold my beer....

Well, I'm glad to see they're still really excited about wanting to be able to share all kinds of information with us. Just like they were on December the 3rd in the holiday message, when they were really excited about wanting to be able to share all kinds of information with us in January.
They didn't say which January?

Was Elite explicitly mentioned in the job ad? As they could just as well have been hired for any of the other IPs. Or the existing one bailed/got fired.

It is even in the job title

Fair enough - even though it sounds to me more like a glorified "CG creator" role as opposed to flesh out existing gameplay loops and adding new ones. I also wonder if this role is to beef up an existing team, replace the current individual in that role, or to fill an empty seat.

Let's hope they find someone decent, the game truly needs it.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing. :)
I'm just a little surprised that this groundbreaking news hasn't hit the mainstream media yet...
Well, it hit mainstream media last night here in the UK (BBC evening news).
But wait... You're not telling me that the people at Frontier are trying to make their coffee with this experimental energy source? Because that could take time.
JET is an Oxford project; Frontier is Cambridge-based. <sounds of sucking through teeth> Bit too much 'rivalry' there for FDev to be allowed to plug in their kettles. ;)

That job advert does reassure me even more that FDev want to continue with Elite: Dangerous.

Because of the lack of communication, we only know about update 11 and the end of the Azimuth saga. It did feel like that once those items had been completed, the game was going into maintenance mode, like when they stopped CGs and Galnet, and eventually sunset. That's straight out of the SOE game shutdown handbook!

It's great that this community can generate over 400 post over a couple of paragraphs. No wonder they have to be careful what they say!

replace the current individual in that role
That was my first thought 😜

There are amongst others more vacant positions not explicitly mentioning game title, but hopefully able to contribute to the development of Elite:
Not sure of Frontier is experiencing such as staff turnover or rapid growth phase having quite a few openings.

I mean, it's just an advert. They might find someone, they might not (I hear UK companies struggle these days finding qualified people... after a certain ... event took place) - and there's no guarantee that that someone will eventually deliver, or indeed might instead get roped into the other IPs (as apparently staff gets rotated around internally depending on needs/firefighting).

I guess time will (eventually) tell.

HERESY!

Just joking.. I too would prefer some concrete statements but I guess, this is all what we will get for the next time. Let's give them one or two weeks to prove what he wrote and if nothing changes, we can still pull our pitchforks and torches out.
I was thinking about this whole situation in bed last night - ooh, sounds weird. Anyway couldn't sleep for various reasons.

I'm not referring to this comment particularly but in general I think we should consider that this must be very difficult for the Community Managers. You know they're not to blame and imagine for a job you having to put on a front 2 or 3 times a week on live streams, with not a great deal of good news to talk about. I know it's their job but It must have felt like being thrown out to the Hyenas at times.

Anyway, it's pure speculation on my part, but it wouldn't surprise me if the CMs just can't take much more of it and so internally, they and those in charge at FDev are having to sort out some issues and come up with a plan.

Sally put out a public tweet indicating she might not be well at the moment. Obviously this is private and we don't know what's up (I wish you well Sally btw), but it reminded me that sometimes the pressures at work can actually make you poorly. I hope this isn't the case with Sally, but it can happen. It's happened to me.

By all means I'd say continue to show Frontier how you feel. After all we are here because we're passionate about Elite and last year we paid hard earned money for a product that should never have been released in the state it was.

Anyway I don't really know what to say other than be kind.

That's all I want to say, now sod off ha ha.

Greetings Commanders,

I want to speak directly about the lack of official streams and reduced communications from our social channels since the start of 2022. I understand the concerns this has caused and hope this statement goes some way to alleviate them.

The whole team are excited to share all of the upcoming content for this year including new updates, content expansions and the next major phase in the ongoing narrative following the Azimuth Saga finale. Beyond this, we also look forward to sharing our new streaming format when the series returns as a weekly show. Changes will include new segments, year-round Twitch Drop campaigns and studio-quality production once we move back into the office.

However, there are several questions that must be answered internally to inform this communication plan. It is important to me that we address key subjects by priority and when we do that the information we provide is clear. The team and I are working incredibly hard behind the scenes to gather this information and provide these answers.

As always, the team and I are grateful for your patience and support while we wait for the opportunity to share all of the above with you. We will update you with more detail as soon as we can.

See you in the black o7.

Absolute nonsense you should be ashamed of yourself with this nonsense.
