Update on Communication

The CM team are probably caught between a rock and a hard place i.e. they don't have anything concrete they can say, but at the same time they are aware of mounting consternation in the player base. So Arf chose to at least say that they (the CM team) are here, which could never really paper over the cracks tbh.

It's endemic to Frontiers corporate structure the shoddy communications they have with players of their games (ED in particular). It's 100%, not the CM's fault.

might give that 40k game a go, is that on consoles?

I was thinking about this whole situation in bed last night - ooh, sounds weird. Anyway couldn't sleep for various reasons.

I'm not referring to this comment particularly but in general I think we should consider that this must be very difficult for the Community Managers. You know they're not to blame and imagine for a job you having to put on a front 2 or 3 times a week on live streams, with not a great deal of good news to talk about. I know it's their job but It must have felt like being thrown out to the Hyenas at times.

Anyway, it's pure speculation on my part, but it wouldn't surprise me if the CMs just can't take much more of it and so internally, they and those in charge at FDev are having to sort out some issues and come up with a plan.

Sally put out a public tweet indicating she might not be well at the moment. Obviously this is private and we don't know what's up (I wish you well Sally btw), but it reminded me that sometimes the pressures at work can actually make you poorly. I hope this isn't the case with Sally, but it can happen. It's happened to me.

By all means I'd say continue to show Frontier how you feel. After all we are here because we're passionate about Elite and last year we paid hard earned money for a product that should never have been released in the state it was.

Anyway I don't really know what to say other than be kind.

That's all I want to say, now sod off ha ha.
One thing about our forum folks is that Sally is considered to be one of the nicest, best CMs and one we look after, as she has tried to look after us, within the parameters, of what she can and cannot do/say. And still she has been amazing, and to think she may be, or may have been poorly resulting form work stess is not good at all..

That's a strawman. I never suggested they see or respond to every thread posted and answer them. I said I think the community managers should engage more with the community and one of the ways they could do that is to respond to more threads, not all of them.

Can you put a number on how many is enough because with suggestions like this, will they ever be able to reply to enough comments, or is it they don't comment on the ones you want them to comment on. Your suggestion has little supportive value of becoming a possible reality within a workable sense.

I could criticise some of the 'corporate speak' that the CM team use (and I made a few comments further up), but yeah, there is obviously stuff that is way out of their control.

Summary:

Business as usual - promise something, deliver minimal viable version of something for 3-4 months, then stop delivering anything for a few months, then release a statement that things are coming and being worked on without giving any meaningful information about 'what' is being worked on or 'when' it might come.

I expect more radio silence.
Then a roll out of minimal viable version of something.
Then after a couple of months they will go back to silence while they prepare to repeat the cycle. ( possible with a different set of people as original CM team will have grown frustrated and left to go work for a company that actually knows what it's doing ).

FDev's cryptic and/or useless communications is the normal for them. That and a promise that things will improve, but like Odyssey's performance, 8 months and 10 updates later I see no improvement in frame rates at bases ( because the Cobra engine they use is 'd ) - WOW the forum censored the acronym I used (Fudged Up Beyond All Recognition )
