The main thing I dislike about pirating is that it is almost always imperial clippers, and they go after small / medium targets because they can mass lock them, and the person they do it to rarely has any chance because of the class difference in ships.
Add to that, that if you don't have any cargo they blow you up, or at least that's what I've seen? just because? seems plain and simply lame?
Granted they can't really know if people are holding anything, which is why I'd say there should be a way to use like, cargo scanner, say the passive scan you normally do without deploy, would tell you (if you have a cargo scanner) if or if not the ship is carrying anything but with vague indicators, maybe same with kws if you got that then it would give a vague indicator of bounty, but not the actual number?
Weirdly even the NPC pirates just try to kill you if you haven't got any cargo.
Psychos, the lot of 'em!![]()
I have an X-55, and a TrackIR4. You win: 60-59. I submit, show mercy.![]()
Seriously how can anyone play as a pirate and expect no one to complain but then whinge about how the nasty nasty traders don't roll over and play dead whenever they say so. If you don't like the traders fighting back or screaming "PIRATE!!!" go and play a different game because this one isn't for you.
Stop complaining on the forums please about proper game mechanics.
Thanks.
He attacked you because you were robbing him and he would prefer to die than let you get his cargo. You had the choice to leave he would not have been able to chase you.I had no choice but to blow him up. Crazy.

Piracy pays, in the right system of course. You want a place people head to when looking to sell their gold or other precious metals. Of course if you're going to be a bandit expect to get brutally murdered occasionally.
.
In two days of solid pirating I have accumulated about $800,000 profit after repair, fuel and ammunition costs from selling stolen wares on the black market in my viper. I haven't died once. The bounty on my head is currently $300,000.
Wether you like it or not... Pirates are not dumb... they use whatever equipment and tactics maximizes their chances of success, naturallyIf you were a pirate... would you use a Cobra to prey on Anacondas?
An "honorable" pirate will let you go, if you don't have anything of value. Maybe the guys you met were just lunatics disguising as pirates. This said, I agree that murder should be punished more severely.

We talk about 1k worth of Scrap, literally. He had shields down and faced a way superior opponent. He knew hes only option for survival was to leave. I took the time and told this to him. Yet he still charged and died before he could could fly past me.
Mike Tyson stops you in dark alley, takes 10 bucks from you and then tell you to go away. Only a lunatic would take on Tyson and try to knock him out to get that 10 bucks back. A sensible man would say a prayer for the cheap escape.
Clearly you are quite a good pirate, but I can make that in 15 minutes in a RES.
As for checking out the right systems, I've been trying a bit of piracy the last few days just to see if it's improved since I started. I've caught two guys today with palladium, one logged off after dropping five bits from my limpet and the other kept running after his drives rebooted... apparently the stuff he did drop despawns if it goes out of radar range, so we have the choice of settling for whatever they drop there and then and chasing them hoping they drop more next time?
How the hell do you make any money with mechanics like this?
You are massively bottlenecked by the scoop/cargo mechanics, and there are so many exploits/bugs for people to use to escape that any decent player is for all intents and purposes untouchable.
That is why pirating is not viable. You made 500k/2 days. I suspect you played more than half an hour.
You can do 1 mil/hour trading or bounty hunting in RES. Hell, I can make 500k/hour from combat bonds.
So if you played something other than pirate, you would have made around 5 mils or more.
And killing the target after it dropped is NOT a good idea. Consider that you are the sickness. If you kill the host body, you, too, will die. A pirate, like a sickness, needs traders to exist. If you kill them after drop, they will stop dropping and that cuts your revenue. They will go to different system, which will cut your revenue even more.
Kill those, who don't comply. They deserve it. But those who do should go free because you need them alive and trading.
There is more skill involved in piracy than any other aspect of this game. They don't do it for the money. There are much easier ways to make money.
They don't do it for the challenge. If they fight its usually someone much weaker than them.
Why do they do it?
