If you watched the video you might have observed that considerable effort has gone into its production.

Oddly enough I didn't. Judging by the pic in the OP I assume it was just another cashgrab with no unique information? Would that be a reasonable assessment?

A thing to keep in mind: Yamiks has said on more than one occasion, including in his live streams, that the over-the-top tone and dialog is a kind of "persona" he uses for the videos, and though he does have real and constructive criticism now and then about the game, he's not really like that in person. That we should take the hyperbole with a grain of salt, and for the goofy humor it's intended to be, while maybe thinking on the topic he's presented.

Also keep in mind English isn't his first language, and as such he can sometimes see humor a bit differently than others.

Having said that, I don't always agree with his points, but I always find him entertaining. :D

I've never seen any of Yamiks videos. Apart from a few PvP fights posted with context (ie words not just a link to a vid) and Dev steams I don't really watch any youtube ED vids any more, not since the monetised opinion pieces started a couple of years ago.

OTOH I am interested in people's opinions if they take the time to lay it out, and if there is an accompanying vid I might watch that too if it furthers their point (probably still not though).

This is my opinion. If the OP wants to continue to do such lazy promoting of the vids they (presumably) spent so much time on, then that's up to them. And I'll give my feedback.

I don't think Horizons is horrible or even meh, overall. I'm not sure it was worth the added cost over the original games' price. You get what you pay for and I don't feel cheated, but slightly short changed. I do enjoy doing some Dukes of Hazzard jumps in low grav. If we could name our SRVs, mine would probably be Kenevel Sky Cycle for the jumps. Or, maybe Dull Thud for those times when the throttle is at max and I think I can roll over a rock that stops me dead and takes 12% of my HP.

I also think the engineering grind was beyond overkill. It could and should be reduced even further with future Beyond updates. I haven't begun trying to get Guardian stuff yet. I understand that the grind for those things is so boringly repetitive, that watching an old Windows XP "pipes screen saver" would be more exciting.

Frontier really needs to take a good look at the history of BigPoint Games. In one of their games, I watched grind increase, connection problems, releases followed by nerfs, and reduced Beta Testing, destroy 9 servers worth of player base, in just under 3 years. To magnify the problem, they then capped amounts of mined resources players could turn in p/week to further reduce player income. Some of this should look familiar. Frontier really needs to take a different approach, if they intend to retain players longer than a few more years. And many players have had some good ideas in how to go about it. Most people don't complain in the forums about grind, they just leave. There's still time to prevent that from killing Elite.

And...I still agree with Yamiks that the Hauler is a piece of $#!^. For godsakes Sandro, at least give it a second hard point, geez. It reminds me of the horrible looking ship they gave Buck Rogers for the dismal 2nd season of that show. It's even kind of insulting comparing the appearance of the Hauler to the real Space Shuttles. Of course, that's off topic and from a different vid, but it still applies.
