General / Off-Topic What are you reading currently?

Rebecca - Daphne du Maurier. I am reading this book because I need to write an essay on this book. I am very busy at the moment, so I think just hire service that writes an essay for me https://writemyessayonline.com/ . Especially since I found Apps for college students and there are very cool apps there.

This was a question I was asked at a recent interview. Are you supposed to say what was the actual last book you read or something that seems relevant to the job being applied for or politically correct?

Has anyone been asked in a formal interview what was the last video game you played or if the interviews played Elite would that increase your chances of getting hired.

Having been on both sides of the chair it's a pretty weak question IMHO.

When I have interviewed people and they have said something obviously pretentious I usually follow up with "oh and what did you take from it" to see how good they are at bull pooping.

So, just be honest in your reply! I will also say that CVs that include likes such as "reading, music etc" as if that is somehow unique amongst humanity are pretty tiresome and show a General Lack of Effort. At least include genres so we can chat about that at the start!

On topic - I'm reading "Stalingrad" in a new translation from Vasily Grossman and its making me wish for a handy 1 page reference of how the characters relate AND a map of the area to glance at!

Yay we have push this op to off topic already. Se how easy it is to do!

In my youth I forget which class, War and Peace was a mandatory read. Don't know how I managed to get by without reading it. But at the ripe ole age of 71 more than 55 years have passed. I thought it's about time I actually read it. Then again, there's nothing else to do while taking a dump which at my age isn't a quick endeavor. LOL

Just finished reading this. Highly recommend it.
It's a horror fantasy tale.

The story is about a retired dungeon explorer that suffers PTSD from his last expedition, into a horrific ruin.
For 'reasons', he has to come back from retirement, to lead a team on a long journey that involves a destination he dread to even think about.

There is a second book in this series 'Sin Eater' that I've yet to start reading(Waiting for it to arrive from the UK. Dammit why didn't I order it sooner!)
The third and final book will release later this year supposedly.

I don't like horror movies and books.

This prevents me from sleeping. :)
