Arch of Triumph and I am almost done with it. If someone has read this book he knows how magnificent it is. Amazing quotes and descriptions of main characters made me feel overjoyed. I've even chose this book for my college task and wrote an excellent essay with some help. I guess such book should be in school shedules all the time. At least children will get joy while reading that

I bought and read the myst novels when I was a kid. Before that I think I read lord of the rings in junior high. I don't like books. Or movies. Or TV. I barely like(and don't really like) modern video games.

I actually finished this some time ago now. The language in this translation is pretty stilted compared to more modern translations I have, which isn't surprising (Henry Wadsworth Longfellow February 27, 1807 – March 24, 1882).

The Gustave Dore etchings included to illustrate the poem are magnificent.

I'm now reading a book on Taoist Chi Kung.

Ploughing through the Three Body Problem books at the moment. It's a change to read something near-future Sci-Fi that's not based on a US/Euro point of view.

I finished the book on Taoist Chi Kung. It was highly technical Chinese medicine... very dry reading.

My mother has an ancestor who served in WW1 as a nurse in Belgium .

I can't imagine........... lest we forget.

Despite being a well written, a very well written, history the material is confronting and harrowing. What those men and women lived through defies description.... words can't even begin to describe the horror and I can't imagine it.

After this I have something on the burner to read which is definitely not related to Australia's war involvements.

Just finished reading Our Vietnam Nurses.

The stories are interesting, sad and harrowing; it's war.

I've been to Vietnam and have visited some of the locations mentioned in the book. The book itself though is poorly written in places and the proofreading is laughable.

Now reading something completely different..... this:

I wonder when I see books in the background shot of someone video chat. Have they read them? Did they deliberately have the shot in the back ground to make them look smart.
