Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Speaking of T2 and still with minor connection to the thread, how about this for a hardpoint? Misiles equipped with misiles/rockets [yesnod]

@FDev: You can add those to my wishlist!

Reminds me of this (under the slight threat of turning the thread into a meme thread)

Man, I'd be all over a MIRV rocket that split into a bunch of smaller rockets just prior to impact. Kinda like that thing from the opening scene of Spawn in the airport.

Yeah...

"Check it out, independently targeting particle-beam phalanx. Whap! You can fry half a city with this puppy. We got tactical smart missiles, phase plasma pulse rifles, and we got sonic electronic ball-breakers! We got nukes, knives, sharp sticks..."

And, while we're talking ships, I just took a look a look at my Krait II livery and noticed a paint job I hadn't seen before. And it's applied to my account somehow. It's called "Special Effect Xmas" apparently. Is this something that just... happened without me noticing it?

It was part of the charity fund raiser, everyone got it.
Nice!

I have it on my Krait in Colonia, 'Colonia Dream' (PS4).

I've relaxed off the "up, up the zigurrat lickety split" to do some non-profit making stuff. Like screenshots, researching etc. Here's one I did earlier (yeah, I'm a novice at this but humour me :D )

I'm also looking at a Type 9 Heavy. Masses of cargo racks by the look but it appears to handle ilke a brick (solid gold, wrapped in a lemon). Maybe...

Dude! Excellent shot sir!
What's happened with Codger? I miss his Stellography.

T9... Hmm. I have several, it's hard work. I have several because It's difficult.
Love it. It's risky, it's dangerous.

My HyperX II headphones arrived today :) I haven’t yet had a chance to set up Voice Attack with them, but I was able to give them a quick trial for ”just” listening purposes...

Holy Zarquon’s singing fish!!!!

I thought the sound was amazing through my speakers and sub-woofer, but they sound like tin-cans and string compared to these headphones! The clarity of the soundscape was incredible. So many subtle things that I had not really picked up on before, the station atc and traffic calls crisp and clear, and then the experience of firing up the G5 drags and boosting out [woah] Which was only surpassed by the FSD charging and then letting rip [woah]

It’s like playing the game afresh at this point :)

I was thinking about the Thunderbird 2 as well, but then I read that it's max altitude was 100,000 feet, which makes it only borderline spaceship ;) On the other hand Elvira et al might be able to make a few upgrades. Thunderbirds had a spaceship (rocket), the T1, but the T2 was way more cool!

T1 wasn't a spaceship though, T3 was the spaceship the one with the yougest piloting.

Glad you were not disappointed - they are truly great cans for a great price. [up]

Right, you are! Sit corrected, I do :)

"Went mining. Terrible at finding opal cores.
So I went to an Alexandrite hotspot.
And so far 4 void Opal cores."

Some cores are just waste of cargo space, like Bromellite, while others like Benitoite are almost as prosperous as Void Opals. Since one use most of the time mining looking for cores, I've been thinking about not only going for a single type of mineral. It's difficult to remember which minerals are worth it, so I use this while being out there:

Then you can quickly see if the asteroid is worth the "trouble" or move on to the next. You might even get to know them by heart after a while, like the KGB FOAM.

The two tricks that I've found most useful when looking for cores is going to the rings furthest from the star to work in the "dark". Out there the red/orange/yellow glow from the juicy asteroids become more distinct. Secondly I turn on night vision and get up very close to a potential core containing asteroid. Then you kan see the fissures (if present) looking as some sort of fungal growth on the rock:

Also notice the shape of the rock in the image. It's got to have those "flat spikes".

Reminds me of wanting one of these from Sagittarius Eye No 9:

... of course I wouldn't mind having the gun as well. ;)
Ah,yes the Kachinsky 4000 series soup dispenser, with curry modifications. Those space hostesses sure have a hands-off approach down to a fine art.

Oh my... so I bought a T9 Heavy and took her out for a delivery of non-lethal weapons (about 450 tons and I still had nearly 300 tons free in the hold - egads!). As expected, this thing handles like a Ford Cortina MKIII with very learge people occupying the seats, a boot full of concrete and a roof rack carrying another Cortina. Or maybe a Jensen Interceptor towing a Saturn V.

I wasn't going to outrun or out-manoeuvre anything. Thank the maker I wasn't interdicted. At the moment, the thrusters are D-rated an unengineered but I'm not sure how much difference upgrades will make.

This may well be a "special" circumstances only vehicle; I could have even completed one wing mission on my own!

If you A rate and G5 Dirty Drag Drive the thrusters you will be able to remove several swear words about the manoeuvrability but are unlikely to outrun anything that could be considered a threat. As far as interdictions go I have avoided some in one even before it got upgraded by FDev, just sacrifice some cargo and take an escort fighter along to distract the attacker while you “run”, the pilot won’t cost too much if you sack them before selling your cargo.

My recollection of old Fords was that loading them up like that could improve the handling 90% of the time in Britain due to them being tail happy, not having enough weight on the back axle if the road wasn’t bone dry.

I agree with aRJay...A rated DDD thrusters do help on the Space Cow. Just don't expect this thing will ever be any kind of nimble though. It is akin to a container ship IRL. I also second adding a SLF and beef up your shields/hull a bit, but you aren't going to be doing much turn-and-fight in this beast LOL.

They are a very fun, purpose-built hauler/miner though!
