Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I did a dumb.

I found this cool looking ringed planet, that was landable, and decided to see what kind of views were on the surface. I headed down to a nice-looking mountainous area.

And I forgot to check the gravity. I always check the gravity, it's like a habit. But not this time.

It was a 3G planet, easy enough to land on when you're paying attention.

I was not paying attention.

My poor DBX was destroyed and boy did I feel stupid. :p

Fiddled with the livery of the Python. It appears I have this paint job which I'd overlooked:

It's a little.. pastel, so I may go back to Stygian Blue

The kit looks better from the outside than it does in where vision is a little restricted:

On another note, I made this happen:

So that's four weapons all at G5 and fully modded \o/ Think I'll call it a day on mat chasing for a while. With the stuff I have, I think it's time I sought out my first on-foot CZ. Not quite sure how they work or what I'll find but fun times are ahead. I'll do that tomorrow, I think.

EDIT

Domino Green is asking for a poke in the eye. She sounded like she'd been caning the Any Na coffee all day and she really grated on me :D
It's a good look for a salvage mission type ship where you might need to use tools to cut up a derelict spaceship and have extra light to see by as you do it Something like mining, but for salvage work instead Shame we don't have this in the game.
The cockpit view actually looks more cluttered than it seems it should be judging by the outside view.
I might have considered it for my exportation Phantom - extra lights for a natural view of anything in the dark, but it's not available for the Phantom and I don't think the cluttering of the view is for me.

They are easy, really. Especially the LOW ones. Just wander around and shoot enemies, and don't let them converge on you. If you get targeted run away. Follow your teammates. Don't worry too much about capturing nodes, just do it when you can.

Find the ammo refill and energy refill spots and memorize where they are.

I can actually do HIGH ones ok. And they do pay quite well.

I do highs with G3 purchased gear so far and it is pretty good, I expect G5s would be WAY OP...like click to win OP...

Back from my short journey out to the Carbon Star. I decided to take a couple of missions. An assassination mission and a Data Retrieval one. Just got jumped on the assassination mission by a wing of 4 Deadlies. I didn't notice the Threat 8 on the mission brief when I accepted it. I clearly don't know what I'm doing with Oddy missions!

I died.

Now for the Retrival Mission. I expect to die!

I can win those wing missions solo... using a Corvette with a total shield strength including cell banks of about 14,000MJ and 125dps up to a range of about 3km. The only combat in the game that's seems to be a challenge for this ship - not tried Thargoids with it yet.
There are some threat 6 that come up that are a bit easier - one less opponent and maybe a lower rank.

I have to run away with other ships.

running missions for a faction in Asia to increase their influence and start a land war just isn't an option.
"In the '30s, Hitler: Czechoslovakia, Poland, France, Second World War... Russian front not a good idea... Hitler never played Risk when he was a kid. Cause, you know, playing Risk, you could never hold on to Asia. That Asian-Eastern European area, you could never hold it, could you? Seven extra men at the beginning of every go, but you couldn't hold it. Australasia, that was the one. Australasia. All the purples. Get everyone on Papua New Guinea and just build up and build up..." - Eddie Izzard
