Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

It does get boring and it's a 550+ly trek to get to Robigo.
Just 10 jumps in my Robigo Taxi. :)

This one:

It's relatively simple. I'm allowed to pay 1000% the price of any ore. So you mine for me.

Let's say you're mining Platinum in your Keelback and you're getting 250,000 credits per ton and you haul in 64 tons per run. That would net you about 16 million credits. I can pay you somewhere around 550,000 per ton, so that same load turns into 35,200,000.

Two runs like that buys you the Python.

Two more runs like that outfits it to get you started mining.

It's that simple.
Ah, that one.
Sounds tempting, ideed.
Some calm mining, somewhere far away from those pesky pirates...

Some peace and quiet would be nice. But at the moment even the backorder is on backorder...
And I am not talking about the game, here.

I'm just over 9,500 LY from Sol now and almost every system I arrive at is a first discovery for me, including this one I'm in right now. In fact I get a bit surprised when I arrive somewhere with another commander's name on it. :D I've had to change my route though as was unable to head any further west towards Temple as I ran out of stars. So I'm still in the Inner Orion Spur but heading north now, hoping to reach the next spiral arm with plenty of stars so I can turn west again.

I've found four terraformable metal planets in this system, so should be worth a bob or two and landed on this one to look for bacterium. Has a nice blue sky. Once it's turned into an Earthlike world maybe there'll be a Tesco here where I'm standing one day.

Congratulations!
My second account made expert today. I don"t focus on rank progression with him. I'm just building federation rank so that I will have a Corvette to fight with in the bubble even when Quain is out exploring. Not going to bother with the Cutter for the second account as the T9 can do the cargo haing job well enough.

Found this unloved earthlike world that someone had FSS'd but never gone in for a close scan on. This is fine by me, since FSS+DSS is worth more than FSS+FD.

And then I found another one, this one with very interesting sunrises!

Oh it burns burns burns... that ring of fire...

This ELW is in fact part of a binary planet pair, orbiting binary suns - but the angles were just not in my favour and there weren't any good shots available 😔

But their nearby neighbour, a CO2 desert world, had some nice visuals.

There's also a metal rich body in this system, which I'm having a bit of a snoop round for mercury, but it doesn't seem like it has much volcanism and I think I'll move on. It's also grey and very un-photogenic.

Well, I managed to get myself into a right mess tonight
Got into the normal scav fight doing a power up mission, and didnt repair before leaving the settlement.

On arriving back at the station, when attempting to get docking permission, just saw "No contacts in range"
Checked the ship modules, and sure enough had loads of damage.
Being the impatient sort, I self destructed, did the rebuy relogged and tried again.

... Still no contacts!

....Ok try reboot/repair (Under ship options)

... Still no contacts!

... Let rip with a few packhounds to save the self destruct wait 😂 Respawed at prision ship, paid the fine/rebuy and launched out

...Still no contacts!

In desperation, I started to fill out a support ticket (After spending 20 minutes trying to find where!) and thought I'd check modules one last time.

Sure enough - Sensors were disabled!

Enabled sensors, got docking permission, landed, amd promptly logged out for the night.

As I still don't have a fleet carrier, or bar, I went to the fridge instead to drown my sorrows 😂

Hopefully no one else falls into this trap!

Last time I got a first discovery on an Earthlike world was back in 2015, before my long absence from the game until a few months ago. (There was no FSS back then and you had to travel to all the undiscovered bodies in supercruise listed in the left-hand panel.) Since I came back I thought there were no more as this is the first I've found in my last four exploration missions.

It's in a system with a white dwarf and a red dwarf and it's orbiting the red. So thanks to Kryten and all his crewmates. :p

It's just a game and my opinion would be along the lines of what rupee said, have fun, do your own thing. Sometimes mistakes can lead into an epiphany, you don't have to be the first one to a trillion credits (wouldn't Suprise me if it's been done). Relax, have fun and enjoy the game, you're asking the right questions. (y)

Well today it decided to make me a liar. Sold a single system - got the notifications and bonuses. Sold a group of systems got some notifications and a (suspiciously sparse) set of bonuses (boni LOL ). Will have to keep a closer eyer on those.

So this 25% cut - does all of that go into my carrier balance and if not, why not?
Weird thing with data sales.
Tried to sell the data from my trip to Vista and got crashed to desk when trying to look at the second page before selling, so sold the first page said goodbye and then sold the second page all straightforward then I fly across the bubble to where my ships are collecting one bio sample. Go to sell that to Vista and not only do I have a whole page full of stuff to sell but also millions of credits in first findings.

The only thing I can think of is if there is a range limitation for sales like there is with the station based Universal Cartographics offices.
