Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Le sigh.
In light of yesterday's news I took the plunge.
Not really comfortable, but I think I'll manage.

So, got my 1st ever landfall tag & on foot BIO scans done in glorious 42-48 FPS (@ 4k), with no AA and much reduced settings compared to 3.8.

That is better than I was getting on my old machine at lower resolutions.

If a moderator wants it moved then let them move it. I am posting that in response to people who say they can't see what is happening in supercruise. This has nothing to do with the thread discussing the introduction of Live and Legacy.

Now you see it:

now you don't:

With it moving that far I am not in the least surprised I missed it.

Midnight black paint jobs tomorrow isn't it?
Yes and the Stygians a couple of days later.

Sorry, but I do not get more than 1080p out of my setup. Maybe that is the reason why I do not see what you see.
To me, the dot in the video is either there or not there.
And honestly, I still am wondering where those two dots in your zoomed in pictures come from.
I have tried to recreate what I see in your zoomed in pictures:

Dot1.jpg
Dot2.jpg

To me, this does not really match what you claim to see, because your description sounds completely different. From that, there should be a dot in the centre in the first picture and a dot slightly off centre in the second.

EDIT: I just realised that you wrote 1440i ... Do you really run the game interlaced or was that just a typo?

Been in hyperspace for 3 minutes straight... I think something might be amiss. I really hope I don't relog inside a star, that would suck.
Escape or whatever you use to get to the menu, exit to the main menu then Continue back into the game.

Best outcome you will be adjacent to the star you were travelling to, most likely bad outcome you are where you started the jump from but the fuel for the failed jump will be gone.

Are you just being deliberately obtuse or do you have some problem?

The cropped screen-grabs were to highlight the actual area where the effect was to be seen, - You say: "...there should be a dot in the centre in the first picture and a dot slightly off centre in the second..." Seriously? The dot (inside the navigation marker) is in the centre of the main screen in the video.

I never EVER mentioned "slightly" - I always have said the dot was redrawn off to the side - in which direction depends upon your orientation - the orbit lines I displayed for a short period shows the inclination - the redrawn position was therefore off to the left of the original location generally along the orbital plane.

The dot in question is the planet inside the navigation marker circle:

that disappears and is redrawn above and to the left:

Really, seriously, you cannot see that dot inside the "Toll Penal Colony" navigation marker be redrawn? I just now ran the YouTube site video at 360p and the effect was glaringly obvious.

I don't believe you are being genuine in this, you have got to be trolling me, surely.

P.S. Yes I made a typo in my previous post of course I meant 1440p not i - and since I was referring to a video on the YouTube that should have also been blindingly obvious.

BTW - I am not going to continue to discuss this in the thread, if you cannot understand or see what is happening then that is just too bad. So drop it.

I'm still on my way back to the bubble from my long (well, long by my standards so far anyway - not exactly Beagle Point long or even Sag A long) exploration trip to the Temple and Inner-Scutum-Whatsname regions and I'm still 5,320 LY from Sol.

I've been landing on quite a few planets and moons almost exclusively for prospecting purposes as I'm hoping to find some high grade mats, as I'm already knee-deep in all the common stuff you always get from geysers and fumaroles etc. Really I need to find something like crystalline shards (or maybe brain trees? Not sure,) but sometimes when looking for exobiology a target will pop up for a meteorite or something, which quite often will drop the high grade stuff and that's why I landed on the planet in this screenshot.

The Stratum I've found here is not a new species for me in the Inner Orion Spur and I didn't expect it to be before I landed, but it was one of those where the only exo indicated was not Bacterium, so I thought I'd check it out in case I come across anything worth prospecting...

I went to visit the Kingfisher, in a ship with decent defences rather than high jump range. Just in case.

After scanning and listening to the 3 ship logs you can collect here, I left the system to listen to them in peace and quiet and then returned for a longer look - pictured above.
And also also met an angry looking Thargoid.

We just kind of looked at each other, or the Thargoid simply ignored me. I'm not sure which. Only the scouts in the area took a few shots at me, hence the 1% hull damage. I was able to freely cruise around the Kingfisher in the presence of several Thargoid Interceptors and was not attacked other than the random fire from scouts.

My sincerest apologies.
It had not been that obvious to me. I honestly thought that the bit in the square would be a zoomed in look at the dot in the reticle. Combine this with the fact that this relocation would be quite a bit outside of my area of focus and you might see where my confusion stems from. And I guess a sleep deprived brain does not help matters, either.

FWIW, I see this in 1080p ultra settings on Nvidia.
Well, no ultra settings for me... My Laptop would die upon game start.

While still on my way back from my latest exploration jolly, I came across this video (not one that was uploaded by the first CMDR to visit this place by the way.)

I've watched quite a few Sepulchre Geist Elite videos. I like his style. A true lover of the game. He doesn't do many tutorial videos, but the few he does are excellent.

Out of an abundance of caution, I decided to load my carrier with a bit more Tritium, in case it becomes harder to get or more expensive after Update 14. It probably won't be affected, but you never know and I like to have traveling options :)

I checked out the sales, but I already have all the midnight black paint jobs I'll ever need, and nothing else caught my eye.

Anyway, I'm ready to bolt for the black if necessary :p

Good call on the tritium.
