Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Yeah, it's pretty underwhelming.

It's just what we expected -- hive ships that look like the crashed ones that have been in the game for years. And of course some of them are bugged and don't even shoot back. Even the ones that do shoot back, there's nothing to do there -- can't enter them, or destroy them, or...anything.

I'm glad that I have spent no time worrying about them :p

Some folks seem to be having fun though, which is always good.
Not something I'm going to be bothered with either. I was looking forward to the new settlement power-on though. "Was" being the operative word. I might pursue it at some point but, for now, no thanks.

Love an Asp
Same.

Although my favorite is my Phantom, I do love the Asp Explorer. In fact, I'm out in my Asp Explorer right now.

Strangest looking Concha I've ever seen:

Maybe this is the crucial difference between flatscreen and VR, but in VR, it was everything but underwhelming. If anything, it was overwhelming.

I mean, I kind of knew I should expect an intact version of the surface sites, but the scale of it, coupled with the brilliant environmental design, took me completely by surprise. I found it incredibly exciting. Still do.

Oh, I just think I couldn't do it. To get where that ship in the video was - I'll try not to inject any spoilers - I think I'd need to do too much to a ship (any ship)to be equipped to deal with it.

Well this is just great - finished the mission, but my SRV & ship have been destroyed... Apex doesn't seem to fly this way either... what's left to do - jump off a very high cliff or hunt Revenants until all ammo health runs out? Really would like that mats reward... ;p

I've had an interesting day. Came across three Anaconda's winged up, all three had fighters plus a cornucopia of cell banks. I got two of them but had to run away from the last one leaving behind exquisite focus crystals and imperial shielding components. It's frustrating when you get their shields below 10% and watch them climb back up to 45%. 🤷‍♂️

Time to get friendly with a feedback cascade railgun!

Been back to Imeut near the Taranis Maelstrom to fight at an outpost under attack from Thargoids. In the past Scouts have been too easy. Like a clay Pidgeon shooting with a gimballed shotgun.
Now its the opposite where I'm lucky to get more than a few minutes fighting before having to run on less than 10% hull. If I'm unlucky its an instant mugging where I might get one or two scouts before having to run. Fighting in Thargoid invasion systems has turned into something that needs to be done in a wing with well engineered ships. I play alone. I feel excluded from combat in the Thargoid war now.
