Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

as it looks on your screenshot, the "target" panel is active. You have to actively switch over there to see the subtarget, as it is with normal npc targets, too. It is not like when you scan structures or megaships, where the subtargets appear in the contact list. It is more a subsystem than a target.

Also, you need to be close enough to be able to target the limpet dock port, if you get too far away, you lose target tracking completely. The best approach is having subsystems on a keybind, and flipping to the subtarget as soon as the scan finishes, instead of fiddling with the panels.
Ah, I see. So perhaps it wasn't bugged, then, just unfamiliar.

In any case, I only had seconds to consider what to do, because my ship exploded a few moments later anyway :)

I was hyperdicted by a Glaive on my way, and it made my cargo hatch malfunction, dropping all my limpets. I had to synth some once I got to Taranis :p

Didn't matter. Having the decontamination limpet running was not enough to offset the constant caustic damage.

Just happened to me on the way to Leigong - first time i've had the uhm "pleasure" of meeting a Glaive in my own ship... couldn't get away as it masslocked me 20:1 - turned & fought, got it down to below 10%, but the gang of scouts that came to support it got me... next try after dinner i think ;p

I would hate to do it that way. It creates a immersion-breaking grind that would cause me to drop the game quite quickly.
Luckily, this isn't necessary in this game. If you love to grind - do whatever pleases you. I'll be checking a nearby star sytem for some alien structures in the meantime...
How you choose to play is no concern of mine. The converse is also true.

With regard to the post I responded to, Mr. O'Flaherty highlighted credits and the convenience of a nearby station; I simply noted that staying on the planet is more convenient and significantly quicker.

What matters is whether or not what one is doing is purposeful and engaging; "immersion" emerges from that. If I'm doing Odyssey CZs, why would I want the distraction of magically appearing in a Vulture 100KM above the surface of the planet I was on to be ferried back to a distant station? I could complete another CZ in the time it takes to fly back and forth.

I only bother with CZs when I want a particular faction to win the conflict. If the conflict is contested, victory amounts to winning more CZs and gaining more credits in bonds than the opposition.

Today was quite odd... Been a few weeks since I last logged into the game, due to RL reasons.

On starting the game, I get an update - in the museum?

When the game finally started, I noticed a new to me system state - drought.
Heading out with the Stargazer to collect some mats, I stumble across some ceremonial comms. Not the first time I see this signal, but upon taking a closer look, I ran into a funeral. That was new, at least to me...
I went on, visiting some degraded and encoded signals. Business as usual, at first. But aftter a secondary scan to find some new signals, I came aross a few signals that had NPC rescue operations underway - and no mats... :cautious:

Bah. System state changed on me again. CZ's got up and gone :(
Maybe time to haul or shoot stuff in the new CGs for the new Aegis pulse wave scanner.

As far as my trip goes it is obvious I am nearing civilisation as I am seeing traps distress beacons and wreckage locations showing up on mapped planets. Obviously I will have to take more care picking my landing spots so as to avoid them.

Cheap beer has a way of doing that to you.

Ngl, it's been a while since I drank cheap beer.

Now the 8% starkbiers I've been enjoying of late... those can have the same effect for twice the price in half the time 😹

Meanwhile, ohw, new CG up I see. Both trade and combat. I guess I can ship my FDL over to the station while I'm finding supplies and have a bit of both worlds 😸

You get a free one if you do the CG. But you can also just buy one at any large surface port with a Military economy.

I got one at Hudson Arsenal in Nogambe.

I'm not entirely sure what it does. It puts both "Xeno Scanner" and "P.Wave Xeno Scanner" on my Fire Groups page. It appears to have less range than the Enhanced Xeno Scanner, if that's what the stats mean. I don't know.

Anyway, I have one, and I suppose that we'll discover how to use it.

Yeah, half of what the advanced xeno scanner is capable of, but double of the original xeno scanner's range. If I remember those numbers correctly.
Wait a sec... I thought they would be available from next thursday on...

Oh they are available already? I had thought some community-scale grind would be required before we got to use them... ;p

...is that a size-6 multi-limpet controller - on your Clipper?
ahh missed the headline this time - I presume you're fitting the 7C to a larger maelstrom-proof warship now? :]

I went back a few times yesterday, managed to get through into Leigong 3 times out of 8 attempts iirc - collected a variety of goodies, some useful right now, others that will be demystified in good time I hope... ;]
