Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

She's made me a billion so I'll ease off a while I think.

Hey if you give her a vacation, the joint's bound to be brighter and cheerier according with her spirits on the return.

Good thing since the closest thing to a spirit in any bar I been to yet around here is RDX. Oh, hey, the last picture I post in my bbs profile page has me tending bar. So you can see I'm experienced, if she heads for the hills.

Out of interest, has anyone tried the 'Added Melee Damage' mod on a suit? Worth it? Or better off sticking to contact shots with an Intimidator?
I've never even attempted to melee. Why would you?

I've tried it just to see, but, trying it on a storebought suit wasn't particularly impressive like by itself hoping for the occasion. But I am going to put it on my new maverino. Rupee called em business suits. I CALL EM EL MAVERINO, BEING NOT INTO THE WHOLE BREVITY THING!

I like to instigate with melee or finish them off. Sometimes just for fun flair or practice - but, melee has actually saved my bacon occasionally. In particular, in close quarters running out of ammo, when another bullet ought to have done.. sometimes a punch will do.

Now I'm going to act that part out, as a short drama.

PENNY NOON - COMMANDO, "just doing a routine bounty scan on you. You know the drill".
As guard Penny waves scanner at CMDR, CMDR hankers to empty clip into her.
Due to defective or wet ammo quality, guard is still hanging on by a thread though, swaying around.

PENNY NOON - COMMANDO, "hey! there they are! I better call this in!"
Even before she calls it in, the guard Penny makes motion to brandish and return fire.
CMDR, "Hmm hey rather than get shot while I reload, or bound around or take cover, I'm a just punch you, Penny Noon!!"
In slow motion, the guard gun and CMDR's fist race toward their goals.

So I'm planning to go see Jude Navarro about a couple of things, including put that on my maverick suit, well that's the plan.

That will be my first on foot gear alteration.. I just only bought storebought things and a couple of upgrades in the past

I was in a hurry to complete a power on so nuked the scavs from orbit.

Oh look! A head!

Powered up the game for the first time in weeks yesterday. Popped over to (@The Own of Noon's) Col 285 Sector DH-S b18-4 and had a stroll on A6 (one small step for a Fnord, one giant leap for Velkorkind) before nipping over to Artemis to overnight on the Brookes megaship (the Legacy):

This arvo I went for a tour of the Brookes Beacons and on return I thought I'd see what the Raxxla tin-foil-hat brigade were making of Beacon 5's quote from Paradise Lost...

... decided that "The Quest to find Raxxla" thread really needs a health warning. Lordy, lordy there is some serious nerding going on in there. Going to give that place a wide berth until I brew some really strong coffee one day.

Remember the hand-held circular saw in Quake III? I used to find spawning crooks on the maps and stand there with the saw powered up and spinning, aint nothing like a dozen spawn kills to bring a grin to your face.

It looks like your playing "Philidelphia Experiment".

I guess I'm now looking to get the permit for Alioth...
Interestingly, the system map tells me I have mapped a planet, there.
No clue when or how, though, as apparently any interactions I had here before happened in the museum.
IIRC, all the planets in each of the 'capital' systems count as already mapped for everyone, it was a deliberate design decision by FDev.

What we have here is my all time most valuable first discovered system assuming I succeed in selling the data.
5 terraformable water worlds, one of which is in a binary orbit with an Earth like world. There are two Earth like worlds in the system.
Amazingly it's an M class star with a primary neutron star. Not the usual expected star types for ELWs.
I have some DSS mapping to do....

I see.

I had quite the adveturious day today, taking the Hound of Baskerville for a stroll around Alioth...

Manual launch went almost free of incidents, only got two or three warnings (no fines, though) for "reckless flying" for some close encounters and two trespassing warnings while bouncing off the toastrack.

The only really memorable close encounter would be the one where I had a pad close to the mailslot, but at an awkward angle. I didn't see the ship on the radar and due to my angle of approach (somewhere around 45-50° off the central axis), I only saw the 'Conda when I came closer to the central axis of the mailslot. I don't know how, but I managed to squeeze my ship along the (from my view) left side of the other ship without any scraping noises... Maybe it helped that I rotated the ship 90° along the longitudinal axis...

Aside from that, there surely is a Commander named Novotny (NPC) that might be disappointed that it happened to him the first time that he couldn't fulfil his contract to blast me out of the skies... Not knowing how lucky he was that he was hunting a ship without weapons in his Viper.

Oh, and I visited Ross 112. I wasn't aware I was this close to the Thargoid action.

Very nice, I've never found a system with more than one ELW, I visited a DSSA carrier that had four ELW's in it's system (way out towards the rim iirc). Anyway, nice going. (y)

I'm taking my Sidewinder out for a for a few days to get it back up to summer school spec

I lost most of Rupee Noon original sidewinder config info but he was quite the fan of the "B" grade modules haha. I think he had squeezed in the SRV bay or I can't remember what. Still used the auto docker too. Had only 2T storage, no limpets, yes wake scanner, was naive and was also orange

FAULCON DELACY IN THE FAMILY
Rupee's THE GEORGE FOREMAN GRILL 2 next to Penny's EL VERDE

I got to do some power ons and power offs missions in it, to qualify to meet my engineer in waiting, Jude Navarro. I'm not worthy!

There's been some interesting developments going on in the upper plane of our galaxy...

Yes, it's rather interesting. They are telling pilots to stay away from the system ( Wregoe GA-X B3-0 ). Which means they expect everyone to go there and find...what? :)

Edit: It's about 1600 LY out, in the middle of nothing. I think I may mosey out that way myself. Just because.

You'll probably need to grind for special fleet carrier mats - assuming you take it - in case a new Thargoid ship supermegadicts your jump.

Sheesh... when did I get so cynical? :D

Oh well at least here’s something interesting-ish to do today - i’m fairly far out as is, near the Legacy system in Orion… it’s been a while since we just had a nice chat with an Interceptor? :alien:
