Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Just an introduction;
I own Elite since kickstarter, but i didn't have much time for it, i mostly did some tutorial missions, the learning curve is quite steep.
I also played the original game and it's successors. (yes, i am that old).
Only this year i was able to spend some more time in it, and i am really enjoying it.
I like the freedom to do anything and go anywhere in this game.
My currently most used ship is a Python, i named Nebucadnezar, like the Babylonian king. coriolis link.
I am still working on it, changing the internals for the tasks at hand, and engineering it, feel free to comment.
Currently i am working for merits for Zachary Hudson.
I don't really like the guy, but i want those pacifiers.
I also have a Krait Phantom, for exploration and a Diamondback i mostly use for odyssey missions.
Another Python, set up for passenger transport is parked at Houser's Reach for doing Robigo mines to Sothis A5 runs.

but i want those pacifiers
Good choice.

Now, swap the Python for a Krait MK.II, put three (engineered) Pacifiers on the three upper hardpoints and go out and slay them. Complement the loadout with a couple of gimballed whatever (beam lasers if your power budget is up to it, multicannon for dakka) to take care of small nuisances (like Eagles or iCouriers - for the latter, the beams are better since they - usually - have to rely on their shields because of having no hull strength to speak of).

As for engineering the Pacs - that discussion is as old as Powerplay. Overcharged gives you the most bang per reload, Double Shot the least amount of trigger pulls, Rapid Fire the highest sustained DPS, especially if you combine it with Screening Shell to further reduce the reload time.

Yes, Pacifiers (like all kinetics) don't get a bonus against shields. But they more than make up for that by the sheer damage they can put out.

Spotted: the dodgiest-looking bloke in the bubble?

You're in good company! A lot of us played the original game and I, for one, am certainly feeling the onset of crustyness :D

Welcome to the thread!

(And back to the game for granddads).

I got the game in late 2014 having been in the Kickstarter. I didn't do more than the "barrel shooting" first tutorial (now long gone) and left it until the start of 2016 to really get into the game. After that, there was no looking back - but I am glad the game is now much better developed.

A gap of 9 years is a bit long though!

Interesting techniques! Love it!

Have you tried that methodology in a high CZ and, if so, how did you get on?

Thanks! glad you enjoyed that :)

...not yet, though I took the Artemis "Assassin" into a few CZ's before - that's the suit this one is based on, with the same mods. I've also taken this Maverick out for a few settlement raids and takedowns ...guess I need to do a more serious field test in a CZ next! ;]

Interesting.

I've never used anything other than a Dom for all my shooty stuff. If there's scavs at a power on, and if I'm not nuking them from orbit due to laziness, I have an "assassin" type Dom build. Only after an ELE for scavs will I switch to a Mav.

The Artemis was an experiment to see how effective it can be in combat, with its already best jump assist enhanced to the max - it's good for longer range play, leaping around the rooftops with an Executioner - not everyone's cup of tea, but I enjoy acrobatics and sniping :) ...so this Maverick is a follow-up with the same mods I finally got around to finishing recently - it's a nice all-round settlement mission suit imo, though I would still use something with added backpack capacity if scraping materials is the main reason for being there... still has to be tested in a CZ as I say, but if the Artemis could handle it, I think this will be quite nice - not so much as a front-line player in a team, but more giving cover/sniping from high up, while also bringing the ability to hack doors in raids ;]

stopping of for a while at cb22- station

found a lovely spot to get weapon schematics from.slight problem with the other poi there, it has a crashed skimmer, you can't accoess the panel.along with the srv back panels you can't access too.View attachment 364651
My go-to for weapon schematics are larceny missions. Those containers (a.k.a. irregular markers) are always good for a few.
